    Thanks mate that clears that up for the most part! So if i chose a developer plan and transfered a completed site over to a client, they would then have to choose a relevant hosting pay monthly plan that matches the complexity of the site created? Or is the code just able to be exported to any ftp hosting company?

    Thank you for making this video. I'm curious about this flow>>>>. Develop the site in webflow / export into a separate hosting service like godaddy / need to make edits later on . What would be best here? Should I keep a unhosted version on webflow and export the site each time there is an edit?

    question: If I have the AGENCY plan with my agency, but beside the clients sites I want to run 2 own websites for myself: Do I need then 2 site plans? or are there any site plans "included" in the agency plan?

    So as a freelancer if I have the freelancer plan, can I then make a website for my client and transfer it over to them and all they need is to have a site plan? If they have the free starter workspace is that enough for them to "collaborate" with me so that I can transfer the site across to them? or would they need a paid workspace plan to allow me to transfer it over? Thanks!

    Yeah you’ve got it. Their free workspace with a hosting plan + your freelancer plan allows you to send over the project when you’re done and they can add you as a guest on their workspace should you need to continue working on it 👍🏻

    Hey Sam, so I'm a dev that works across a few platforms, primarily Shopify, Squarespace, etc. These don't charge developers a monthly fee to maintain an account or while developing projects. Is the expectation from Webflow that developers need to pay a monthly Freelancer plan (or above) with them to maintain an account, even when not actively building/working on sites? As you mentioned, I have 2 or 3 test sites saved also. Once I hand off my client site, if I want to be available for support - I need to be paying an ongoing monthly Webflow subscription? Feature-wise I used the cms for this project as well as embedded JS code, and while not currently using ecommerce, I began with a template that is built for it as the client indicated they may want it in the future - so it does have ecommerce pages setup in it. Do you know are they going to have to pay for an ecommerce plan - even though they may not use those features in the first 6-12 months?

    You can host their sites on your account if you have a freelancer or agency workspace. But I really don’t recommend that. Your clients need to own their own website which technically they won’t if you’re hosting it for them on your account. You can create the site on your account and then transfer the site over to there’s. You’ll still be able to make changes for them.

    Hey Sam, thank you for clarifying the pricing. I just want to clarify one more thing. Do we need to have both Site plan and Workspace plan? Does Workspace plan include everything in Site plan? And if I am a freelancer, I would pay for workspace plan and my client will pay for the site plan, is that how this pricing works? Thanks.

  • @sam-harrison

    Hey dude, so your client needs a site plan (when the site is ready) because a site plan is basically hosting with access to the builder. A freelancer or agency workspace plan is for the developer so no you don’t need hosting. These plans allow you to store the site in your account and then when ready you can transfer the site over to the clients hosting. Theoretically you could make the website for the client straight away on the clients hosting but that means they have access straight away. So the developer workspace plans allow you a level of control and if you’re regularly making webflow websites for clients you’ll want at least the freelancer plan 👍🏻

    You can purchase a freelancer subscription, and then just send it off to the domain that your client has bought. There's no real reason to burdon a client on having a webflow subscription of any sort unless they value webflow and maintaining the site on their own.

  • @sam-harrison

    @@innerinsights224 I'm not sure what you mean dude but the client should always be in control and own their own hosting plan in my opinion. If the freelancer ever disappears or gets hit by a bus, the client has no way of accessing their own website otherwise.

    @@sam-harrison well a lot of the small businesses or individuals here would be happy just having the code. Why would you make a client pay for Webflow subscriptions if you can export the code and upload the files to their hosting service of choice. I the freelancer can then import the code back into my own account if they need changes. A lot of people here in south south Africa just do once off deals. So In the end I save the client money if they can have a site hosted with the exported code without them paying for Webflow, I feel like this is where the Freelander plan comes in. Instead of the client having to have their own plan to import and export.

    Please correct me if I'm mistaken - if I'm making a webflow site for a client and I'm about to transfer the project to their account, they're going to need a workspace plan subscription AND a site plan subscription?

  • @sam-harrison

    @sam-harrison

    10 күн бұрын

    No not necessarily. They will only need a site plan not a workspace plan. The only time they’d also need a workspace plan would be if they needed lots of additional designer seats. However if you want to continue working on their site after transfer, you’ll need a minimum of the freelancer workspace in order to be able to be allowed as a guest on their basic site plan account.

    If the website is yours you’ll need a hosting plan which also gives you builder access. But if you’re building websites for clients, it’s best to also have a workspace plan so you can build the site on your account until you’re ready to transfer it. This allows you control over the project until it’s done and a workspace plan allows you access to clients sites if you’re doing ongoing work for them. The alternative is to just build the site on their hosting plan straight away but I prefer to retain ownership until the site is done and I’ve been paid which is why having a workspace plan is useful.
