If ad blockers didn't exist the internet would be unusable

💯I'm amazed that people still don't realize that ad blockers are available and easy to use. The internet is a garbage dump without one.

I mostly stopped using the Internet a while ago in favor of YT / Discord / Reddit. But as of last week, after hearing about adblockers so much with the YT stuff, I've decided to give in and just use an adblocker. :-/
@KenHarrisio

@@splatinkI think lack of knowledge is part of it and the other part is probably because of the shaming tactics. I remember years ago when there were people saying that it was theft to use ad block and I still hear it every now and then. I strongly disagree with that though. The real theft is being bombarded with 20 minutes of ads for an hour of content and the ads contribute nothing useful for a person's life.

@@jonmichaelgalindo How are you liking the experience of having one now?
I've been watching several videos on web browsers. Your video is by far the best I have seen. Right to the point and your views are fair. Thanks
I just exported all of my FireFox bookmarks in HTML format. I then went into LibreWolf & selected Import Browser Data/Import bookmarks. It took 5 downloads from FF before I got an HTML file that LibreWolf would upload. It kept telling me "no bookmarks in this file," though, after all these years, without bothering to trim out the dead wood, there are hundreds. Finally it took them as well as forms & other things I had NOT selected to upload. PITA.
does the mullvad browser use the tor network and therefore also slow and shouldn't be used for stuff like banking and general browsing?
@KenHarrisio
6 ай бұрын
Nope, the Tor network was taken out but everything else was left intact, so you get the other privacy benefits that the Tor browser offers.
At last someone that I agree with. Awesome Tier. love it. Keep up the good work!

Which is good for both private and performance? Mine is low-end device. I hope to hear your suggestion.

Brave has been a great browser for privacy and performance. Firefox is good too but Brave seems to be faster. I have a ten year old computer that handles it well.
Does Mullvad hide system specs like Librewolf does? I can’t find any info on this so I assume it goes without saying?
@KenHarrisio
2 ай бұрын
I ran some fingerprinting tests through Mullvad and FF on a couple different services. Mullvad hid way more info, though it did still show the OS. I remember one of the reasons people liked Mullvad a lot was because of the extra fingerprinting protection it has over other browsers like FF.

If you watch without being logged into an account, any of the good options like Librewolf or Brave work great. You could go a step further and make sure the site data is automatically cleared out every time the browser is closed by tweaking the option in settings or using private windows. If you are going to be logged into an account, you would actually be fine to just use an option like Edge or Chrome and could just use the browser specifically for watching YT and not doing anything else.
Fuck chrome and manifest v3. I refuse to be subjected to ads. I'm gonna keep using librewolf where my adblock will still work. If a website uses that shitty browser checking thing to try to force me to use chrome, I'll simply just not visit that site and they wont get any potential attention from me.
There's also Midori Browser as another Firefox fork to try out.
??? How do you rectify the TIME (clock) that LibreWolf shows on various web sites (ebay, amazon etc.). It is never the correct one.
@KenHarrisio
5 ай бұрын
That's actually a feature built into the browser to protect against fingerprinting. You can turn it off if you want though. Type about:config into the browser address bar and navigate to the privacy.resistFingerprinting option and set it to false. Just keep in mind if you do this, it's a big impact to your privacy. My personal preference is to use another browser like Firefox for anything that needs a login and use LibreWolf for things like casual browsing.

Also sir if a web browser deletes your cookies after you close it. Will i have to type myself the passwords to login everytime or will it remember(which i guess it wont) so is there a way around it.
@KenHarrisio
12 күн бұрын
Hello sir, thank you for the kind words and support. I haven't used Fire Dragon specifically, but it's probably a good browser. I researched it and found it's a fork of Floorp, which is a fork of LibreWolf, so I would say that's a great option. To answer you other question, if the cookies are deleted every time the browser is closed, you'll have to reenter the password. If you go to the settings, there should be a tab called "Privacy & Security" or something similar. Then there should be an option in there that deletes cookies and site data when the browser is closed. If you uncheck that, you shouldn't have to retype passwords anymore.

I'm not keen on using their stuff. The company has been involved in privacy controversies over the years and the government ties really top that off.
It should be possible to use open-source AI to auto-complete captchas nowadays... That would be an awesome extension.

Imagine having to *PAY* to *be able* to use virtualization lmao Microsoft won't hesitate to beat up a granny and her cute dog just to squeeze an extra penny from its customers, and the only reason they have those is that Microsoft used to be default. It's not easier to use - whoever had to scrub a hundred different folders and a damn registry because that one program left a ton of fucking garbage behind, knows full well how not easy Windows is, and don't get me started on getting an error that isn't in the docs/references - you're screwed; you'll find a million of threads with similar issues, but they've all been locked before any solution was ever found, and the support agents they employ either know nothing about anything, or it's just Microsoft keeping on writing garbage spaghetti code which should've gotten straight to landfill right after birth. God I hate that company.
wtf i didn't know mullvad had it's own browser
@KenHarrisio

It's still somewhat new - I think it released just earlier this year. It's solid as a rock though, which I figured it would be since it was forked from Tor.
Here's an unusual comment: I have no issues at all about your tier listings! 😆🤣You DID make it clearer than other explainers as to WHY I should consider Mullvad. Some explanations sound equivocal and wishy-washy. As of now...I know I WHY I want to try Mullvad. I like the idea of Mullvad's VPN service, so why not try them? Like you, I found Vivaldi acted almost like an OS in itself (or, at least, an alternate-timeline Linux desktop environment 😆🤣). Right now, I'm a Librewolf and Brave user. Aloha.

I really like the browser quite a lot. I started using it a couple months ago and put it through testing and have been daily driving it since then. The extra privacy protections of the Tor browser but having something not connected to Tor is pretty nice. The VPN is really good too, though I don't really care if I have one connected all the time. I use Windows anyway, so I figure half my privacy is gone just using that! Brave and Librewolf are still also daily drivers for me too, depending on what it is I'm wanting to do. It's nice that there's a good selection for privacy focused browsers now.

The main issue with your top choice picks is that may web masters don't make any effort to achieve Firefox compatibility. I've used Firefox for decades but I sometimes have to use a Chrome browser to get a site to work properly.

Mullvad works better as a browser to do casual surfing where your activity clears out right away. Hardened Firefox is a better choice for sites that need a login.
Surprising that you find Chrome better than Edge.

It looked weird on the list, but I view it as a niche browser. If someone is on Windows and can use MDAG, it's pretty good for security. I just don't like the privacy issue. I would prefer it over Chrome just for that aspect.

Fuck I hate webp. Great for the backend, shit for the user.
28:55 Letterbox protecting from canvas fingerprinting LMAO, wtf dude talking about. Letterbox useless in Firefox, LibreWolf do same without this letterbox thing. Mullvad is basically Tor without Tor, and Tor itself is not the best "privacy" browser. Mullvad cant bypass CreepJS fingerprinting, site remembers the user even after all the cleanups. This browser is only made to promote their vpn. Only LibreWolf and ArkenFox can bypass modern fingerprinting scripts.
