Weaving Fun Dish Towels on my Rigid Heddle Loom

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Last week, I warped my loom and this week I'm weaving! I really enjoyed weaving this project because it gives a nice visual effect without much effort! I total, I wove two dish towels using 8/2 cotton in the colors Natural, Sapin (green), Plum and Teal. Each dishtowel has a different weft pattern that makes them unique! #weaving #loom #handmade

What a great effect! I love the way you have altered the colours. The change does give them a 3d appearance. It’s truly amazing what can happen with a little change. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 😁

Thank you! I mostly use Maurice Brassard yarn and I'm lucky enough to live 1h away from them. So I buy directly from the factory. I love their yarns and I believe that they have many resellers around the world. If you are in the United States, their yarn is available through The Woolery's website. Of course you can make a baby blankets! I have actually made several with my 32" rigid heddle loom. Here's two of them: kzread.info/dash/bejne/onWexMeyYrrHp6Q.html and kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZqbmqSggaaroMo.html Also, there are many shops that sell such looms. If you are in the US, there's the Woolery that has a great selection. Here's the link (affiliate): woolery.com/ashford-rigid-heddle-loom.html?aff=214

So are you using 2 strands in each opening for the warp and weaving with one strand of 8/2 cotton? I have only used 8/4 and done a single strand for both the warp and the weft. I do like the way your color works in the warp. Thanks for sharing. God bless.

Yes, that's exactly it! I believe that the different with your towels would be the final thickness of the towel 😊

Thank you for sharing this method. I am very new to weaving. How do you measure your towels while you are weaving? Do you keep measuring as you advance the warp until you reach the middle or mark it somehow before you start weaving?

Good question! At the moment, I like to use a masking tape to track my weaving progess. Once I have measured a few inches, I note it on the tape and stick it to my project. As I keep weaving, I keep on advancing my tape and noting on it how much I have woven 😊

I use Ikea paper measuring tapes, pinning them on as I go. This allows me to write notes ahead of time on the tape where colors changes. Old school is you can make your own out of ribbon (grosgrain)

Bonjour. C'est un de mes souhaits de faire des vidéos en français sur les bases du tissage. Comme j'ai un horaire très chargé à l'heure actuelle, je ne sais pas quand ces vidéos seront faits. Mais ils s'en viennent :)

Bonjour, cela serait vraiment sympa@@Curly_n_Yarny . Car même lorsque l'on comprend l'anglais c'est parfois technique. Personnellement j'ai dû mal à comprendre quand utiliser les différents peignes suivant la laine..
