Weather is a good choice because you can go wherever aircraft fly. The topic itself is great because it is one that you can intuit as well as learn it because you've lived in this three-dimensional sea of atmosphere. You know what lightning, wind, rain, snow etc, already so you don't need to have the basics explained to you - what you learn is the physics and the nuances of weather and after a year at a location, your forecasts are easily the most accurate available. I was an NCO weatherwoman for a full 20 years with a husband and two kids.

I was a 1W0X1 and loved the job personally. I was good at it and understood it. It definitely wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea though. Only bad part was working PANAMA 12’s. After changing bases and working at a weather flight life was easy.

This gives me hope. I'm 31 and am looking to join, but I want to do weather. You are a inspiration thanks for putting a girl on.

Unless you enjoy weather and are genuinely interested in meteorology, do not go into Air Force weather! I’m giving you a friendly warning

Jon Maat I hear that all the time... This last retrain list had only one opening. I PCS in a couple months and then I'm eligible. Tell your career field manager to keep an eye out for me lol

Job is cool, but don't ever go army support unless you love constantly going out the door and sleeping in tents with the army

It could be worse. You can be going to school there during Covid like my son. He has not been able to leave base since he checked in July after boot camp. He's making the best of it. He did the college thing at a University so he thinks tech school is better because you're not taking other classes that don't pertain what career you're working towards. He's been an Airman Leader and just got promoted and now has his own dorm. No roommate.

Just got booked for Weather Apprentice, my bmt starts June 15th!

She could be a aircraft dispatcher. Just take course. Her benefits pay for it. Biggest part is weather. Need to learn fuel, weight and balance, ifr regulations. Charts. Be an airline dispatcher after retirement.

You should do a video on army weather support it’s a whole different career field than being at a OWS or a Air Force weather flight

The same job at the same school house for the navy as well.

The first religious affairs class at Keesler all god COVID lol that was back in March.

I’d like to see an interview or a special missions aviator. Currently prior army trying to get into the AF with that job.

Trenton Dennis From what I’ve heard everyone loooves their job as a Loadmaster. I mean just look at it you get to ride around on planes and push tanks out the back.

You should do an interview with 3d0x4 if you get the chance.

I would love to know why! I’m currently assigned to weather but my recruiter is trying to switch my MOS to broadcasting and I was debating whether to tell him I’d rather stick with weather because it means I have a quicker ship out date. Is there something specific you didn’t like about it?

Cassandra McDonell extremely long tech school where you don’t really learn how to do your job. And then when you get to your first duty station you’re always wrong because you pretty much don’t know anything about the weather. And you’re essential personnel at a lot of places meaning no holidays off and shift work

Cassandra McDonell pretty much. Also don’t pick a job u wouldn’t want just to ship sooner. You’ll regret it every day. Wait til you get what you want or you’ll dread going to work everyday
