Airman Vision

Airman Vision

Airman Vision started back in 2012 when Kyle Gott was looking to join the Air Force. The channel was originally named Kyle Gott. From 2012 to 2019 Kyle documented his life and experience of a 6 year enlistment in the Air Force. In August of 2019 the channel was rebranded to Airman Vision to showcase a more broad concept of the Air Force. This channel will consist of the view of the Air Force from several Airmen's perspectives. Each video will be the view of a specific Airman who is currently serving or who has priorly served. This channel has grown to be more than just Kyle Gott and that is why he decided to rebrand. It isn't about Kyle Gott, it's about helping people join the Air Force and have the best experience possible.

Pro tips: Wake up earlier than reveille. If you can keep a watch somewhere with an alarm, set it 15 min before. A guy in my flight bought a cheesy digital watch that played “Yellow Rose of Texas.” Spend the time getting dressed, making your bed, and I guess, fill your canteen. You are now ready to head out for breakfast. When at attention or parade rest: DO NOT LOCk YOUR KNEES. If you pass out, you’ll fall face first or straight back. Learn to stand with your knees slightly bent. If you do pass out, the knees will fold and you’ll go down vertically. Make it a lifelong habit and you won’t need to replace your knees and hips when you hit 60. On Sundays, go to church. It’s like a mini-vacation away from the dorm and other stressors. Learn from your mistakes and don’t repeat the same mistake twice. Always have a pen with either blue or black ink. Always have a 341 filled in and ready to be pulled (in my day, we had to have 3 in our left breast pocket). Finally, remember that you are there to learn the Air Force way of life. You made the best decision to join the Air Force. Once you finish tech school, you’ll be in the big, blue Air Force. Regardless of where you’re sent, whether it’s an ACC base in Germany or some bare base in the middle of nowhere, your life will be far better than if you had joined one of our sister services. Good luck, Godspeed, and Aim High.

Some advanced schools requires a six-year contract. I would make that the first priority, what schools am I getting. Some of these schools cost the Taxpayers a lot of money, so if you get the right school, do six.

You weren't a Senior NCO or Section Supervisor. My last six years I spent as much time talking to Officers as Enlisted. I was a Jet Engine Mechanic and spent most of my career on the Flightline. Talking to Pilots and Maintainence Officers everyday. You always have to know whats going on all the time.

I made the mistake of thinking I was going to do twenty years when I DEPed in. I followed that up with not making a plan for if I didn't do twenty. I ended up doing 8 years in the Air Force then decided to go to full time college. Turns out I really liked the military but didn't know it until I got out. I joined the Coast Guard after I graduated and ended up serving 14 years there now as a retired veteran I miss it everyday. People need to understand that it changes you in very specific ways.

Knew an E6 with 18 years in who got caught at the gate for DWI. He appealed it, don't know how it worked out. Saw a E5 who got in his car, was drunk and had a head on and killed a young 21 year old girl. At the trial, his Lt. talked up for him and the judge saw he truly remorseful so he got 18 months in Leavenworth. Problem for him is he has to wake every day realizing he killed someone and he destroyed his military career. To be honest, the very best thing to do if you go in, stay on the good side of people and be a person of few words. If you don't say too much people can't disagree with you.

I’ve done nothing but trained myself fitness Lee for the past several months I do tend to 15 miles on foot every day I used to carry my bike on my back in the middle of Florida heat. Is there any other exercise you guys can recommend for me to get on point for this.

Don’t think that just because you WANT to serve 20 years mean that you WILL BE ALLOWED TO. There is something called Higher Tenure and if you don’t promote…you are out. Depending on your job and timing, this can be harder than you think. I nearly missed mine because my platform was obsolete and my first selection had a 48% selection rate but then due to a massive brain drain in aviation, it shot way up and I made my last selection because they were pulling from obsolete crews to make up for the mass exodus. I made my following selection as well. I never thought I would say it but…THANK GOD FOR THE RECRUITMENT CRISIS. Now I just have to hope we do not go to war.
