Wearing and making a Worth inspired 1897 gown
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
A little bit different content today, mostly because the dress was a bit f different too!
It was filmed a bit ad hoc, but i hope you enjoy the glimpse behind the making and the beautiful places i was lucky enough to wear it for!

Ah yes, the sewing supply no one tells you you'll need: knee pads for patterning on the floor

I have 2 pairs…
Love Worth gowns. First heard of them back in the 70’s when I read a lot of Barbra Cartland.
“By all means”, spoken like a true gentleman, sir!
You do amazing, extremely skilled work. Know that.
Even with your piecing difficulties, the final result is beautiful. Well done1
I love everything about this gown! The color is stunning, as is the print. I think the peeping Tom cat looking in the window approves as well! 😻😸

Thanks! not a print though, woven pattern :-)
What a fantastic frock, and such a perfect setting. "Worth gowns" conjure up a vision of luxury in my mind, and this gown lives up to expectations. Beautifully made, beautiful to wear.
I am THRILLED that that gown will be in your next book!!!!! I have wanted that gown since I first heard of Worth! I will start looking now to find the right fabric.
It's a stunning garment, even without the symmetry! I think you made a worthy rendition to the original piece haha
You look absolutely stunning in this gown. I love the colour! And you could become lady of the castle (or rather, of the schloss) this very minute! (Also, I love Lucas's jacket with those cute lapels and pockets!)

Oh thank you! it is his smocking jacket ( well, lounging more like as he doesn't smoke..)
I really like your videos. It is so interesting to see what goes under all of these historical gowns. It is very interesting to see that though the dresses were very ornate and fancy, the under garments were a lot more of whatever works to achieve the shape that is fashionable.
I love everything about this dress. I hope I can get a copy of the book with the pattern when it comes out.
👚🔍👌 You do wear those outfits as if you been there! Fascinating.
I have this Worth gown saved to a list I have of dresses I would love to make. It's gorgeous. Guess I will have to find the right fabric to actually make it!
Exquisite gown worn by an exquisite lady. Greetings from Québec, Canada
This is such a striking and beautiful silhouette! I absolutely adore it. All of the piecing was well worth it!
Lovely as always along with breathe taking view
Beautiful cape for a beautiful gown on a beautiful lady in a beautiful location! Keep the videographer. He's worth a few misses. ☺
Don't fire the video grapher, you will need him for more buttons to close/open later on 😉. Your gown is wonderfully designed. I absolutely love the color!!! The Worth gown is incredible beautiful too. Thank you for sharing all this with us!
The cape also looks fantastic!
what a gorgeous lake view. as always a lovely gown.
This gown is absolutely GORGEOUS!! 😍
Good for you! I have loved that gown since I saw it in the museum in Paris in the early 1990s. Love your pieced version!
Beautiful. Perhaps Countess Elizabeth Greffuhle wore it as a dinner or theatre gown? The Met Red Worth has 2 bodice. One just a tad less formal which makes me think Dinner, Reception or Theatre gown. The lace is definitely Ballgown. I ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Worth. Your blue is gorgeous
Perfect piecing! Such stunning scenery to showcase your beautiful dress. Lovely cameo by Merlin too. I really loved the seated shot and the staircase shot at the end too ❤
What a gorgeous gown! I love the fabric, and I think the color is even better than the original!
Lovely just lovely , thank you for your hard work and the video❗️🤗
You worked a miracle! Thanks for taking us along👍
A wonderful colour! 💙 I had the same problem when matching draperies. The overall look was worth getting a pair of knee pads I say! Ouch! Amazing Switzerland too. Hope you both had a good time.
Marvellous
Oh my you look *gorgeous* in that dress; this is one of those times when I really wished we still dressed like that!
The colour is absolutely stunning!
Stunning work, the dress is amazing. You are so very talented!
it looks gorgeous ❤
I love the color and pattern of this dress and you looked absolutely beautiful in it!!
Do you design and make all of Mr. Priorattire’s clothing as well? They always fit him so well 😉🩷.

gorgeous!!
So beautiful❤
Im not a dress maker but that is a stunning dress to me. Great video...thanks🌻🐾
the dress is amazing! I love it's shape, I kinda wonder if this style of dress was used in reference to an 80's film I seen called Return to Oz, there's a nurse who wears something similar but hers was either black or a very dark solid navy blue but the resembelence to your gown and the one in the photo was remarkable.
My favourite dress on this channel! Love it and I am so proud of you 💜
Piecing is period.
Beautiful! The dress and the scenery.
Fire the photographer !!! What !! with that fine jacket and is so helpful. I didn't notice the undoing myself, and you didn't notice and to be very frank, does allow for more raclette if only slightly. Was the button hook forgotten at home ? This is the pivotal point, that button hook. I love Kandersteg. The food is great. I wish i could have also seen it in the winter. I was there in the Summer long ago.
Stunning!
I think it looks very lovely. ❤
Zat is a beautiful dress.
You should've had yours touch the floor in the front view, it looks too short but otherwise lovely. Ok I got to the part now where you said you were low on fabric, fair enough. It is pretty fabric.
The gown exquisite, the snow capped mountains oh how dreamy!!😊You lucky ducky all dolled up and you had somewhere wonderful to go💗💗💗💗🌹
Beautiful blue color for the dress. Under your magenta petticoat, I'm guessing you were wearing a corset, combinations, and stockings?

What is a good resource for patterns for the 1890 tea gowns? I'm not an experienced sewist but I'd love to try to make one

Do you wear your corset everyday or just when you are making your historical outfits, for the right fit?🌺

I wear corsets for when working in historical get up, or when I am experiencing a bout of costochondritis, or for horse riding. Otherwise not necessary
you look beautiful

Was the original Worth gown an arsenic dress?

most fabrics were arsenic dyed in one way or the other. But it doesnt matter really as the silly myth "killer dresses" has long been debunked.
