Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This week we are finally insulating and wrapping the outside of the shipping container, or at least the front of it! We can actually see the transformation happening and it is looking SO GOOD!

    If a board or any construction member or material is vertical you say it is plumb. If a board or any construction member or material is horizontal you say it is level.

    Another wonderful video. Dylan and Mollie great job. I say this a lot in the comments but it is still great to have younger people wanting to do hands on things not just sit on there phones. I am curious on what you will be doing over the big doors on the end. Till the next video keep up the quality work.

    10:05 I use a plate level to solve that problem. It works great on tall walls where the studs may not be straight. I would imagine that it would also work for the siding.

    You mentioned that the foil tape isn't useful because water intrusions aren't a risk. That's true, and it's also true that air leaks aren't a major concern, either. Both of those are reasons why people would ordinarily use foil tape, or house wrap, or flashing tape, and both of them don't matter when you have a solid metal container underneath.

  • @Woodbrew

    @Woodbrew

    5 ай бұрын

    Yea my thoughts exactly. Air intrusion is the biggest issue and actually I think we will have to vent this because it’s too airtight😅

    It looking really good. The batons are doing exactly what they are supposed to, covering the space between boards and making it look level. Between the siding and Whats above it, are you going to put any type of flashing, like Z flashing, to carry water away instead of going between the boards?

  • @Woodbrew

    Curious, when adding so much to the exterior of the container (metal roof, insulation, siding, etc), at what point does the container itself become irrelevant and when would it have made more sense to skip the container and just use a concrete slab(or wood floor) and wood framing? As is, I can't imagine you're saving much money by starting with a container. And you're restricted to its dimensions. Do you know for a fact that you'll be moving it later, is that it?

  • @Woodbrew

    @Woodbrew

    5 ай бұрын

    We owned the container already and did not purchase it for this. We used it because we had it. However, this is a common misconception. Concrete alone would cost almost as much as a container where we live. Concrete is expensive and we live next to a port so containers are cheap.

  • @peterrondelez

    Oh I see, cool. I assume you want to build a permanent woodworking shop on your property at some point, so I was just thinking why not build a proper small building that could be expanded over time as your needs grow instead of working with a fixed-size container. But if you already had it, makes sense to use it. And it of course makes for good youtube content with so many people wanting to use containers for various buildings. Lots of hard work you two are doing, wish I had your energy and drive! @@Woodbrew
