Im IN LOVE with this yurt! Omg your so lucky to have experienced all these cool things! 6 containers is huge! I've only seen people build with 1 or 2 . Amazing!

One idea for double door becoming the wood stove/fireplace: Don’t weld the doors shut. Simply open them up 45 degrees and create a “bay” You can cantilever the floor to support the wood stove and put a roof (with venting) over the two open doors. Then just weld a back to the edges of the two open doors. This will give you more floor space and a unique alcove to show off the beautiful wood stove.

I love what you guys are doing. When our house burned down, my husband wanted a steel house. Going through Katrina really left an impression. Everyone thought he was nuts and for the last 14 years all has gone well. Now, in our little town in MS some people have decided that they too want a steel house after tornadoes take out their homes. CONGRATS! IMPORTANT! Sooner than later... get a couple serious GROUND WIRES going to some copper grounding rods for your new quasi-lightening antenna home! Also, make sure each of the containers are WIRED together, electrically so that they are all grounded.

Just a note: the wood in the floors of a lot of containers are soaked in pesticides so they dont get pests/mold etc in long sea voyages. Might be something to consider or look into. :) Looks like a great project.
