What is funny about the execution line is that because it's their game, they would regenerate, so it could keep happening endlessly if she actually did it.

Me too. It was just a sad but meaningful moment. The ONLY thing I wish they had done different, at that moment, was if after saying the mantra Ralph said, softly, "I'm gonna wreck it." As a way of underscoring how he was taking the most negative aspect of himself and doing good with it. But it was still a powerful moment.
I love how original this movie ended up being, even though it has a lot of video game references, it doesn't use them as a crutch. They just help build the world the story lives in.

Go "behind the scenes" and find out how bad the original screenplay was. A re-write turned potential garbage into a modern classic. "Wreck It Ralph 2" dumped all over the original's message. (The usual problem with sequels.)

Too bad the sequel took everything good about the original and ruined it
The best bit for me is when Ralph is helping Vanelope build her kart, the dialogue sounds so much like an older sibling helping their younger one play a video game.
You guys actually overlooked a piece of Calhoun's tragic backstory. They didn't explicitly show this, but the fact that Calhoun had to watch her fiancé get eaten by a bug and then destroy that bug on her wedding day is far darker when you look at what the movie shows us about the bugs later on in the story. If you recall, when a bug ate "King Candy" aka Turbo, the bug BECAME King Candy.. Which means that not only did Calhoun watch a bug eat her fiancé, but she also had to shoot her own fiancé right after that because the bug became her fiancé.

There's a real pile of references in this lovely movie, obviously, but one I think that seems to get missed a lot is Gene and Ralph. When the game's doing the intro for the whole premise, Gene is the Nicelander that Ralph always grabs and throws clear out of the building, so the dude really has a chip on his little 8-bit shoulder about this Bad Guy. Great review for a great flick, gents!

I love the whole yin-yang thing Ralph and Felix have when they're cooperating. It's subtle, but the fact they have the full circle of creation AND destruction and how powerful they become when they work together is just something that really works for me.
It's interesting that, if you can recognize Alan Tudyk's voice acting, the twist is actually revealed early on when Felix is telling Calhoun about what going Turbo means. It seems so obvious on re-watches, but that first time it just passed me by.

Tbf, even if you did recognise it. It’s not like it’s a major giveaway given how unlikely it sounds Like why would you expect the guy who game jumped to be someone else? But the only question on my mind is what happened to the real King Candy?
One of the little details I love is that the car of the "king" always was just white. Like Turbo. I mean why would a colorful king have a white car... :D

There's so many good clues about how out of place King Candy is. He doesn't match the anime-esque designs of the rest of the racers, he's the only adult in a roster full of kids, and while everyone else has these elaborate candy portmanteau names like Adorabeezle Winterpop and Crumbelina DiCaramello, he's just dull ol' King Candy. Even his code block is out of place - it's like fifty times bigger than all the others, like he had to conceal all the hacking he had to do to make it. My favorite clue is how he tries to deny his castle is pink ("Salmon! Salmon, that's obviously salm-- What are you doing here?!") In the moment, it plays like an obviously prissy guy trying to deny that he likes pink; at the end, it's revealed that, oh duh, of course his castle is pink, he _stole_ it from a little girl. This movie literally thought of everything 😁
I watched this in theatres and legitly I cried 😢I loved the chemistry between Vanelope and Ralph, and Ralph being such a good guy but struggling against the cards he’s dealt with is always relatable 😊
Out of all of the "newer" Disney films, this is easily my favorite. Loved it from the very first time I saw it in the cinema and it only grew more and more in my estimation over time. It's really impressive how tight and well executed the script is and how they still manage to give the characters enough time to make you like them. Your reactions are always so entertaining, really glad you picked this one.

King Candy is voiced by Alan Tudyk, aka Wash from Firefly, the Joker in Harley Quinn, K-2SO in Rogue One, the chicken in Moana, Tucker in Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, and about 100 other roles.

Was one produced but on the eve of release it was destroyed in a terrible plane crash/killer bee attack, along with all the producers and scripts.. thats how I remember it.
The director of this movie, Rich Moore, directed episodes of The Simpsons and then Futurama. No wonder this is my favorite modern Disney movie
When someone pointed out to the filmmaker that Zangief isn't really a bad guy in Street Fighter, his response was "When I was a kid, Zangief was a bad guy to me!"
I totally wanted to see this in theatres when it was released, but my wife, who is 7 years older than me, often looks at animated movies as children's fare (she used to direct a day care center, so that kind of makes sense). But she took one of the kids she watches occassionally to see it, and said she liked it was better than she thought she would. I also loved the candy and food references, like Sour Bill, and the cops Dunkin' and Winchell, who are named after 2 donut chains in the U.S. . . . and also, the fact that THE COPS ARE DONUTS.
I watch this movie every couple of years, and I'm always struck by how cute and funny it is. It's so creative! I grew up gaming, which makes it even more fun.
This movie was such a great watch for any long time gamer. So many IP's are used and all the jokes hit for me, but also the movie had so many great undertones for real life and how you should be as a person

I've seen people argue that the movie sends a bad message, that you should just accept your station in life and never try new things (which probably explains a lot of things about the sequel, but that's a whole other can of worms 🙄). But that's not what this movie meant at all. Ralph felt useless because he believed all he could ever be was a Bad Guy, but Vanellope helped him realize what a good person he truly was all along. He wanted the Nicelanders' acceptance, but first he needed acceptance from the most important place of all - himself. And that's the true message: that there are inherent things in each of our lives that we can't control, but they don't define us as people. What we are is not nearly as important as who we are. And I think that's really beautiful 😊

I identify with Venellope on so many levels. I was the first and only student in my school who had epilepsy. The kids made fun of me and didn't want to go near me. Teachers were scared of my seizures and kicked me out of their classes because they didn't want me to cause problems. The principal tried to expel me, but I was too good.
So here's my theory about why Ralph is so unpopular among the Nicelanders at the beginning - you notice they're all just sort of afraid of him, but the only one who's outright antagonistic towards him is Gene, the guy he throws out of the building at the start of every game. It's like Gene is bitter about barely being in the game and blames Ralph for it, then just started a smear campaign against him among all the other Nicelanders. And Felix, who assumes the best about everybody and is too polite to take a stance one way or the other, is just caught in the middle. This is one of my favorite movies of all time; I think about it a lot 😄

@@NiceDudeMovieNight Oh, this is one of the tightest and most flawless scripts Disney's ever produced; they thought of everything. Most of the people behind the scenes were alumni from The Simpsons, including director Rich Moore and head of story Jim Reardon, so if anyone knows how to tell an extremely efficient story full of smart-alecky humor, genuine heart, and creative world-building, it's them 😁
There are not enough Wreck it Ralph reactions, thank you dudes for adding another 😁
I've been learning a lot about this movie, there's a lot of hints that give away the Turbo twist (spoilers if you watch the movie/this video after the comments). 1. TurboTime was a cabinet neighbor to Fix-it-Felix Jr., which is how King Candy recognized Wreck-it-Ralph, they were neighbors 2. Alan Tudyk is the voice of King Candy, if you can pick out his voice from Turbo, that's a give away 3. King Candy calls the pink castle Salmon colored, kinda giving it away that it wasn't his to begin with because pink is for girls, generally 4. If a video game character dies in their world, they respawn, but if they die anywhere else, they die for good, if Sugar Rush was King Candy's world, he would not be scared of Ralph at all, but he is. 5. although I haven't been able to find the exact scene, someone mentioned that when King Candy's name is announced, it sounds different to the rest of the cast. 6. Sugar Rush looks chibi anime, King Candy looks western, out of place. This last bit isn't a hint but it's a spooky detail, when Turbo is revealed, if you slow it down as much as possible, you can see Turbo doing an 8-bit thumbs up and then a 3D thumbs up while looking at the camera, breaking the 4th wall for the briefest of moments.
Top two movie twists of all time: King Candy was Turbo, Norman Bates was his mother!

The idea of a villain support group, since most of them don't get to choose to be villains, and have to put up with the fear and hate... Is both somehow very heartwarming, yet incredibly depressing... But also gives an easy to understand comparison to how it can feel to need/want help.
One fun fact about Zangief being in the bad guy meeting is that he isnt technically a bad guy in his game. The director made him a bad guy because he could never beet him in street fighter and it always made him angry.
Fun fact about this movie: the reason Wreck-it Ralph destroys the Nicelanders building isn't just because if his programming within the game, but because of a real system of law known as "Eminent Domain", which gives the government the right to take private property at their discretion. Don't believe me? Listen to the song "Wreck-it, Wreck-it Ralph", especially the first verse which goes like this: "Wreck-it Ralph is a giant of a man, 9 feet tall with really big hands Living in a stump on his very own land until his world went crazy He was minding his own business on the day they came They showed a piece of paper saying 'Eminent Domain' They built an apartment building saying 'progress was to blame' So he got mad and he turned bad Brick by brick HE'S GONNA TAKE HIS LAND BACK!" So the truth about this movie is that Wreck-it Ralph is not a bad guy at all, but the victim of a very unfair law.

So many elements of it are impressive and entertaining, as a gamer- like how the Cy-Bugs mutate based on what they eat. And Sugar Rush would be a legit home-run if it were a real game; the concept is solid. And the casting for this movie is stellar, Alan Tudyk turns everything he touches into gold. Everyone was bringing 100% to this. It *is* a shame the sequel was a letdown that totally retcons major plot points from this movie, but sometimes that's just how things go. Someone, from another channel, made an interesting comment on why Gene hates Ralph so much. At the start of every game, Ralph punches through his apartment, grabs him and throws him out of the building. Gene has to live that every time someone plays the game. probably every level too. More than Felix, Gene has, probably, suffered from Ralph than anyone else. Not that it makes it OK, how he treats him. But at least there is reason.

I watched this movie so much as a kid.
I missed the video game arcade wave, so Ralph's back story is what drew me into this "kid's movie." The Bad-Anon motto/mantra is the heart of this tale. "I'm Bad and that's Good. I will never be Good and that's not Bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me." After Ralph left on his medal quest, the Nicelanders and Felix discovered how important he is/was to their game. Points to you for resurrecting his name. 😉
That babel segue was so cute I ship you two so hard
The two cops are both donuts, one is a classic iced yeast donut. The one that look like an eclair is actually called a "Long John" and it is usually iced with chocolat or maple icing and can be filled with a sweet cream (similar to the filling of a Oreo, but not quite as solid) filling, custard or no filing. Maple iced, cream filled Long John is my very favorite donut.

Can we also appreciate the fact that their names are Wynnchel and Duncan, after two of the biggest donut shop chains in the country? 😆
I love the plot twist of this movie
King Candy is a loose reference to actor Ed Wynn, who appeared in several Disney films. He's well known as Uncle Albert in the film Mary Poppins.
This movie is one of the best matches for the name of your channel.
Ah, yes. Q*bert - sighs wistfully. How many hours I wasted, sitting on my best friend's living room carpet, leaned against the sofa. The Atari joystick controlling that weird little bouncing dude. Happy days, indeed.

@@vanhattfield8292 There was another Atari game that basically involved being in a tank and firing at stuff in a desert like terrain. No clue what it was called but if you steered too far into certain areas of the screen, the graphics got seriously messed up and turned into weird geometric blocks. Good clean fun, all round 🤣
I have Seen that movie 20 times
