I grew up in Atlanta and only ended up in college park by mistake while leaving the airport in 2009 and never been back. Also, lived in Norcross and passed the WCM on Jimmy Carter Blvd to go to my church home Victory world church. It’s not that unusual for someone to live in a city and never attend certain churches.

People act like it’s r*cist to say “white people____”… or “black people___” But we know history repeats. We know certain people will act a certain way and never change. I think if we’re 100% honest, we’d realize “stereotypes” are important, and actually something to celebrate, rather than be afraid of

We are at church all day long on Sundays at my church. Praying, worship, speaking in tongues, healing and being slain in the Holy Ghost! We don't get out most Sundays until after 1:30pm. And we stay at church doing church stuff and back to service again at 6pm. And you're right, not many churches do this anymore but we love being in Jesus' presence and being at church.

@nancyharper7467 that actually sounds really amazing to me! So, I'll be honest, I'm a Christian and I love God very much! I read my Bible, I do Bible studies and read books about our faith, and so forth. BUT, I do not go to church. And here is why-- I'm a white guy, but I just don't vibe with typical "white" churches (I know it's weird to make this racial, but they are very different in style). Many years ago I had found a black Baptist type church that I LOVED and the people were so open and loving to me. But, then I moved. And I tried a few new places and it went really badly. People basically drove me out and told me that this was a black space and I didn't belong. It broke my heart, because I just connect to Jesus the same way as them- I am vocal in my praise, I move, I dance, I sing, and it's just very spiritual to me. So, I gave up. Maybe I will try again cause I miss it so much.

@@SquirtlePower809 that's the reason why I love my church, it's because we have that same kind of move of God and free and loving spirit about us. We are a mainly white church but we have a few other races that comes as well and we love it and love them. I can understand why you feel like that, it's hard to find a church like this and are very rare. If you are ever in Georgia, come visit us. We are radical in Praise and worship and many other churches visit us on Sunday nights because it has been said that, You can't find a church like mine much! I grew up attending all different kinds of churches, and my favorite was going to my mixed families churches. These people was my closet friends , they just know how to worship and are so free in doing it! So I bring that same praise where I go now and it's so very welcomed. Even if Pastor in preaching and the spirit comes upon me, I just let it flow and he just smiles and let's the Holy Ghost have His Way. It's a free and an alive church. I pray you find one like this because I would miss it too if I didn't go to a church that didn't worship and praise in a radical way. I would feel trapped. Praying for you to find one like this! It's an amazing place to be. I know heaven isn't going to be very quiet and neither should we. Amen! God bless you!

They have prayer after my church services as well but not at all like this one. This one was a bit odd. The prayer my church has for people is more private and intimate and not the whole speaking in tongues and charismatic. I’m not a believer in that so much. The Bible says a bit about speaking in tongues and the good and evil of it. We really have to be careful because there’s a lot of false doctrine out there as well.

It just talks about there being times in church when it's better to speak a language people understand. But Jesus says in Mark 16:17-18 that speaking in new tongues is one of the signs that will follow those who believe. So if someone is ever saying the Bible says it's evil, they're misrepresenting the Bible, and I believe you have good reason to seriously question whether or not it's worth listening to them.

When we moved to Atlanta back in 1996, this was the church we were so excited to go to from watching it on tv. We were so disappointed with the unfriendliness we experienced. No members greeted us with a hello or anything. We didn't know anything about Atlanta, so we went to the distribution area to ask questions about the church and to meet people in the area. We knew no one there. We met a lady and she greeted us well, but she seemed to have such a busy life and said she'd get with us and if not, we'll meet in heaven. In heaven, we won't need what we needed then. We went to a small white ministry and they greeted us very well and gave us the much needed support we needed to plant ourselves in Atlanta. We went to a mix church and another black church and got serious friendly greetings and the support we needed. They stuck by our side until this day and we are no longer in Atlanta.❤

To combine humor and observations about interesting churches is "entertaining" to say the least. You also seem to have a sense of mission to show the unity of the Body of Christ, the Church, which I greatly appreciate. "By schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed..." yet "the Church's one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord." BTW, you might find All Saints Anglican Church in Fayetteville, GA an interesting church. One of our goals is to make Christmas a truly spiritual event (i.e., what Scrooge would have experienced). When I was a little girl my sister and I went to the Southern Baptist church in Victoria Park, Calgary Alberta Canada! The church was a red brick building and you could hear thé joyous singing, laughter, loud preaching for several blocks, and it was amazing! We were raised Catholic but it was all in Latin, 3 hrs mostly on your knees and no Sunday School! To us it was boring and the « Monseigneur « was 90 if not even older to us! It was very solemn and strict and quiet! On the way home 1 Saturday we heard folks singing beautifully at the corner church! We snuck in the side door and there was all these Black people! We are Irish and Lakota and had never met a Black person! Oh my they were the most happy well dressed people I had ever seen! We were spell bound and of course an usher caught us! Instead of kicking us out we got to downstairs to Sunday School and I learned about Noah and the Arc, baby Jesus, and hell 🔥 fire! We had no idea that we were listening to similar stories but in Latin and had no clue! We had Catechism at St. Mary’s school everyday but I usually paid little attention! We paid attention in the Black church! After the service which was 2 of the most fun hours meeting all these new kids and their grandmas who treated us very well! We got to stay for the Sunday church picnic and we had the best potatoe salad, and corn on the cob and Carmel icing on chocolate cake that I ever ate in my! We begged to come back but the pastor stated we had to have written permission from my mother and father to attend a « Black « church! I was confused and said, » this church is not Black its red « ! The pastor and his wife just laughed and said we were welcome any time! My mother was Lakota and my father was Irish. My father was quite happy bc he was born in Ireland and left bc he was very upset about his time as an Alter Boy in the Catholic Church in Ireland! He never talked about it! My sister, my mother and I attended that Church from 1962 till 1970! We loved our church and the people! They moved on because the city wanted all the properties around to extend what they called the Calgary Stampede Grounds! We were the only nonBlack kids to ever attend because most people around there were Catholic! My sister sang in the choir and I 18:18 won my first Bible! I still have it and to me Jesus was in that church and He was Black! ✨☀️✨🙏🏽🦅☀️🦅

Honest to goodness, several years ago, my sister worked for this “ministry” as a contracted marketer. She absolutely could not wait for that contract to be over. The first day of work, she was sitting in a boardroom waiting with others for Creflo to show up. When he walked in, everyone stood up and practically bowed to this man. He immediately went on a rant about not collecting the projected money he thought he should have received at some event. Also, one of my sister’s friends who was laid off and was looking to this church for some assistance. They went into her records to see how much she had given. They refused to help her because she had not been tithing long enough. It makes me sad.

It is very sad that no assistance was given. I don’t agree with looking into one’s records to determine if they deserve the help. On the flip side though, there are also those that abuse the church’s charity. I have a distant relative that would go from church-to-church for financial assistance for her family. She was “working the system” on all fronts and took advantage of several places. Once the church caught on, she and her family moved on to bleed another dry. There certainly needs to be a way to help those in need but protect against the thieves.

I’m glad John and Shama went there. In every denomination you have sheep and wolves. They are not all good or all bad, but when we make it to heaven we might be surprised at who made it and who didn’t. TV preachers get a bad rap. I know one or two very well and they are some of the most generous people you’ll ever meet. A lot of the “fancy” things they have, were given to them by people who love them and want to do something nice for them.
