Finally somebody that puts numbers where they should be! Go snowtrax!🤘
I’m surprised by the Yamaha numbers, and it even has EPS. Great video!! Very interesting 🤔
I have a 2023 Yamaha Sidewinder LTX GT- EPS and I was thinking over 700 Lbs. wet ? I was surprised to see 667Lbs. I'll agree with you that these Sidewinders are very fast, they also have great suspension, and the EPS takes away any struggle with steering. I also have a 2011 Apex- EPS with 20K miles on it, and it still runs great! Can't beat those 4 strokes!
😧 the look on a ski doo owners face when the find out their XRS 850 only weighs 16lbs less then a sidewinder but has 40 + less hp. Especially after they talked all that smack about how heavy 4 strokes are… 😜

@@bcelectricc Snowmobile market is small and getting smaller. Yamaha has a net worth of almost 8 times that of BRP, they have divisions that make more the BRP as an entire corporation. Even if they were the snowmobile market leader it would be their least profitable division. It all boils down to money. Just like how the etec evinrude is no more…lmao 😉won’t need parts it’s a Yamaha!!

@TheMidwestPatriot I agree and have had and ride pretty much every sled out there . They all have highs and lows , competition is good for us consumers so its very sad to see yammy go ! I currently ride a renegade 850 xrs and I can say that sled is dialed in for quebec trail riding its not the fastest but my God it's just good all around. Not sure what I'm riding yet next winter as I change yearly but this one will be hard to beat all around pkg !! Have a great summer my riding friend !

@@bcelectricc me too. My friend has your same sled. I have a number of hours on it. It’s a good sled but I personally think the front end is much more grabby than the cat and Polaris. I don’t care for that, but he likes it. I’m a high mile aggressive trail rider so a 4 stroke makes more sense for me. 🙂
Thank you for weighing them. I've weighed lots of sleds over the years and ya...most are at least high 500's if not over 600lbs "ready to ride". That's why when you really do weigh one (normally a mountain sled) that's a real sub-500lbs with fluid, that's impressive. It's funny how people will argue about a 5lb difference but then they plop their 230lb or more fully dressed ready to ride rear end on the sled and "wish the sled was lighter". Have a good summer and can't wait to see next seasons episodes. :)
Fantastic as always guys!!!! Certain types of beer are ok with me to!!! Keep up the great work guys!! strap job looked great! 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome! I've always hated the whole "ESTIMATED dry weight" thing. I believe ST should do this from now on on every sled they test. Thank you for telling us the truth!

We will be sure to do this once our 2024 sleds arrive!
I’m sure someone will have something to say about how they were weighed. Good job my brother there’s quite a bit of difference in weight with fluids you don’t realize just how much. Until your up to your sac in snow trying to get one unstuck then ya notice. Thanks buddy and may you all have a safe and happy summer. Great season watching you guys as I may have put 20km on my sleds this season. Thanks again for the great content over the winter. 🥶
Well done Snowtrax
Great video. I highly suspect skidoo has been lying about dry weight on the summits for several years, as the wet weight is way more than RMKs yet the summit carries considerably less fuel. I wish I could trust any of them. This video didn't address my issue but in general it's good to see the oems being put on notice that someone is checking weights. My 23 Expert turbo is a lot heavier than the boost, it's obvious, but the marketing made it sound like they were within ten pounds. No it's 40....sigh.
Great job, happy to see my suggestion for wet weight in , come to life 😂 Thanks again
Thank you!
The Yamaha was a bit surprising.
Great vid and thx for doing this. Hopefully the OEMs don't shrink the fuel tank sizes to lighten up the rides. The Yamaha Nytro comes to mind here when they only offered a 28L tank to advertise a lower wet weight. Kudos to Polaris for offering the largest capacity tanks, which the extra fuel weight should be welcomed over the doos smaller tanks.
Good stuff, thx!
Good job guys. If you can remember you should do wet weight (snow) in winter. Be interesting to see .
Well done gentlemen

considering its turbo. electric start, 4 stroke, has power steering, and loads of features that is pretty damn impressive for whats basically a 12 year old chassis underneath. i wonder what kind of numbers they can make happen if they get on the catalyst chassis
Good to know. Not sure why they were so bummed when you did it before. You'd think they'd be thankful. Hard to imagine that Expedition 900 was that much heavier than my 600R. 60 or 70 lbs. That's quite a bit even if it SE vs LE. 4 stroke vs 2 stroke. Thx guys.
So, add up all the wet weight/11 = 110.59 average. On my 2012 Ski-doo GSX 800 SE, just add 110 lbs (avg) and that is my real weight before another 120 lbs of packed snow in the skid. No wonder I cannot lift my fricken sled when I am stuck.... I much prefer wet weight over dry weight being shown on the brochures/on-line specs.
Great video!!!! Very interesting.
This needs to be done more often, especially with off trail and mtn sleds. I was curious on how heavy the doos sleds would get as its been said they hold a lot of coolant, especially the mtn sleds. My XP 800 was quite a bit lighter with less tech and rmotion is a heavy skid! Too bad the lynx wasnt available as they are chunky also.
great job! True wts.
Ski doo snookering its customers big time!! Hey brp time for a diet!
Love it. Honest specs to compare!
Good job! Keep doing it
The most shocking result is the Sidewinder weighing only 14 POUNDS more than a Doo 850 XRS! Doo needing Jenny Craig pronto.

Someone with balls great video man !!
Manufacturers are always trying to "cheat" the numbers. Real world is always truth. Great video. I was really surprised at some of the weights meaning, heavier than I thought. Keep up the sled content. Going to be a long summer...
And my buddy complains that my sidewinder is too heavy when I’m stuck and his xrs is so much lighter and easier to get unstuck and I think they’re both heavy pigs
I expected the sidewinder to be much heavier. Though it is worth mentioning that WHERE that weight is will make a difference as well. Having weight evenly distributed or lower can make it feel lighter compared to something more top heavy or front heavy.

The snowmobiles in my garage are 2 completely diffferent machines. I’ve got a 2012 f1100 turbo sno pro and a 2023 600r blizzard. Who do I like best? They are both super tight and fun
I thought this was kind of silly but I was shocked how much weight the fluids add. Never gave it much thought. Had no idea it would add so much. Great video. Side note. The magnet to hide your mic stands out more than the mic it self. Black square in the middle of your shirt. Mic attached to your collar looks fine😊

Dry weights are such a scam. Last time I checked they don't work very well without fuel, coolant, oil's.
Very nice video, skidoo as more fluid weight, i am wondering what are the fuel tank, oil tank, and cooling tank capacity skidoo compared to polaris. As well as battery size and batterie weight difference. thx again for this nice video.
@bedlambikes

Polaris carries 11.5 gallons -vs- Doo's 9.5 gallons which is an additional 12 pounds of wet weight added to each Polaris due to its additional fuel capacity. One gallon of fuel weighs 6 pounds. The oil tanks on both sleds are nearly identical in capacity so there's no difference on that end.
Bout time guys lol
I wonder how much old iron sleds weigh?

how do the skidoos have 150lbs differences between dry weights when they dont hold 150lbs worth of fluids
It’s interesting to me that the Polaris sleds were about 100lbs more than dry weight and the skidoos were about 150lbs more than dry weight. Do they have different size fuel tanks? Or what’s up with that?

We will note these items for an upcoming segment.
See Yamaha is not a total tank! I get crap about my heavy nytro every season, and seeing 667 pounds for the sidewinder, my nytro must be 30-40 lighter, I’ve removed the stock muffler all the rear plastics, and replaced running boards and cut the tunnel away so I’m guessing the nytro weight would be 600-620ish
No Bud light 😂
HI AJ, I wanted to let you know of a minor flaw in your weighing method. I noticed the shadow was directly under each snow machine, meaning the sun was directly overhead. This means that each snowmobile was subject to higher amounts of energized particles (neutrinos, protons) from the sun. As a result, each machine probably had a small increase in overall mass. Just kidding. Cool video.

Nice vid. This contraption for weighing should be used every time you test a new sled. We would have real weights then on the Catalyst and other Cats you have rode this year. Does anyone else but me wonder why ST has a yard full of Polaris and Skidoos at the end of season (not a speck of snow in sight), yet not a single Arctic Cat? Just why is that??

@@snowtrax is there any way you can put them on bathroom scales at four points? The two front shocks and front track shock and rear track shock? It would really tell you a lot as it give us an understanding of balance and why sleds may feel different. Call it part 2 sled wet weight. You pretty much have everything you need with the truss and lift. Just need to drop it in scales.
Would have been nice to see at least one Arctic cat
need a couple cats in there. trail/ crossover / mountain.. alpha skid would be interesting to see
A quarter of a million sleds sold in the US in 2000 and 53,000 sold in 23. The average snowmobiler is over 40 and the average trail worker over 55. Writing is on the wall

I wonder how the panty bunchers step on their scale
575 for an Indy sp when the dry weight is 505? Only 70 lbs for oil, fuel and coolant??? I have a hard time believing that when every other sled was 120ish lbs more then dry. I'm struggling to believe all the sleds have a full tank of gas. 11-12 gallons of fuel is at least 80lbs. 2 gallons of coolant 20lbs, a gallon of oil 10lbs.

@RebelCanuck can we though, that's the weight we've seen, doesn't mean it's completely loaded. All I know is compared to what's been shown my '16 1200 Renegade X with QAS and all its accessories is lighter then the new G5 850s. I had it all loaded to balance the weight transfer and had it weigh in at 630lbs.
@123devinzz1
Жыл бұрын
@RebelCanuck i would not be suprised if polaris shows the sp having a higher dry weight than what it actually is since the equivalent xc 650 137 weighs 465lbs dry. just to make the other models seem better. they should weight about the same not that much more. i also find it weird they state "estimated" dry weight like they obviously know exactly how much it weighs. polaris lists that sp at 499lbs estimated dry weight. after adding 43.5 gallons worth of gasoline weight you get the exact 574lbs that they are getting here. maybe polaris is adding coolant and oil weight in the case of this sled?
So quick taughts, Doo really lowball there dryweight number and there sled are much more heavier then the competition (polaris). Yamaha are ALOT lighter then I taught and are really stupid for not advertising there weight and the low weight difference from the Doos!
Why not go to a grain mill and use they’re truck scales? Hope you didn’t get the scale from Chinese auto not known for accuracy
Appreciate the video, but weighing full of fuel penalizes the sleds that have higher fuel capacity...doesn't make much sense.
