What he meant was that they didn't intend for the whole dam to go like that, just to breach a small section, and as Russia does pretty much every time, they screwed it up. That's if you can even believe the guy, anyway, and in this instance I tend to, since he was talking to a buddy rather than to someone from the outside. And I will say that at least HE understood that the consequences were not good, the power plant and the animals, at least. Most all the rest of the Russians are cheering it, and on Russian propaganda TV they are advocating doing it to every other dam all the way up the Dniepro, so he's FARR from the worst the Russians have to offer. And yes, Russia's SOP with targeting civilians, blowing up power plants, using illegal weapons, etc etc ALL seems designed to just piss the Ukrainians off more and more. It also does NOTHING for the Russians to win the war. And it's the same stupid crap they've done everywhere they've gone to incite and carry out a war. Russian invaders suck, Slava Ukraini.

I don't believe they were just trying to scare. Given that before the explosion they maxed out the reservoir with water for maximum damage and then without warning (so no evacuation could take place) the dam exploded in the middle of the night when most people are asleep suggests to me that they were after as many civilians killed as possible. They could have warned before so that they could have had time to evacuate civilians and they could have blown it up during the day when most people are awake, but no - their goal was to kill as many civilians as possible.

They blew the dam at 2:54 AM, so many of the people in low areas near the dam would drown in their sleep. The dam was not blown in the middle of the day when most people would be awake, observing and could raise an alarm. The military stations sentries in the middle of the night to warn the others. The civilians don't do this. So, this is also a convenient way to get rid of civilian populations that they didn't trust.

To be fair this is all propaganda. Am I supposed to believe every single Russian just is just saying blyat, suka blyat, na khui over and over to his gf/wife? Some people might talk to their partner that way, but this is in every video of every supposed soldier interception they post. You can't go 10 seconds of conversation without a Blyat dropping Also It's far from certain that Russia blew up the dam. Blowing it up lowers the water level to below what it needed to feed the ONLY canal supplying fresh water to Crimea. Which is the most significant chunk of land they annexed. On top of that the northern bank of the river (held by Ukraine) is at higher elevation and thus less susceptible to flooding whereas the Southern bank is held by Russia and at lower elevation....... It seems Russia would have more interest than Ukraine in keeping the dam intact though obviously it's destruction is a double edged sword.

No aircraft carrier, you can't cross the Bosphorus strait, but everything else would be fantastic! The Alexandroupolis port is a major NATO hub and the E.U., especially Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania, will help with their freight railway network.

The guy who speaks about a warning by the hierarchy confirms what I read a few days ago: some Russians on the frontline by the Dnipro riverbank were ordered to prepare to leave in a couple of days, and then the delay became a couple of hours, when they realized htey had f*d up at the dam, hence the level of improvisation.

The barbarism routinely displayed by the Russians and their cruelty is appalling, this is what happens when you have a brutal dictators regime in place, we've all seen it so many times before.

no, it´s worse, the destruction of the dam was exactly what they intended, they blocked the dam to fill the reservoir prior to detonation, specifically to cause maximum damage. The low ranking soldier on the phone just did not have access to that intel.

My god, listening to the Russian description about stealing local's boats and just saving themselves is gut wrenching. If I had better foresight I would have bought a boat and driven it over to Kherson before this thing happenned so I was ready to help. Hindsight is 20:20 - it seems really obvious that Russia would do what it did now.

While I can't answer for those particular intercepts, a friend who is fluent in Russian, married to a Russian woman and having worked in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for years says that the intercepts appear genuine.

No. A conventional explosive first strike! Back when nukes were first invented, targeting systems were nothing like as accurate as they are today. Today, you could send precisely targeted warheads against major Russian military bases and armaments factories and achieve the desired effect without spreading radioactive waste all around the world - and nuclear weaponary DOES have an effect globally.. TNT or C4 though - is great at turning stuff into a 3D jigsaw puzzle, without affecting stuff outside the blast area.

These Orc intercepts are crucial information to pass on to war crime investigators. Notwithstanding the fact that it reinforces my hatred for everything Russian. The world should have destroyed Russia long ago. now Ukraine has shown us the way
