'I Am Treated Like a Human, and in Russia They Treat Us as Sxpendables': Russian POW Confession

DISCLAIMER: the POW gave his clear consent for filming and publishing this footage. POWs are protected by the Geneva Convention and treated accordingly in Ukraine.
Anton Meshcheryakov is a citizen of Russia. He lived in the city of Kirov. In Russia, he was imprisoned for having marijuana. During his imprisonment, he had a child born, and the prisoner had never seen her. The ministry of defence of Russia recruited him to the 5th motorised infantry division of the Russian army, and he was captured by the Ukrainian Defense Forces near Mariinka. The POW shares his experiences, how Russian regular forces assign machine-gunners to shoot retreating prisoners if they flee the battlefield. He could have been killed by such 'death squads' so he surrendered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine when he had the opportunity. Hear his speech on UATV.

Sadly, censorship in Russia will not enable this sort of material to be accessible by Russians. As this disillusioned man illustrates, the power of Russia's evil propoganda, coupled with their ruthless disregard for lives (even their own), will persist. Russia's future is bleak - but I don't see the Russian people coming to realise this folly - and countless more will perish, taking innocent civilians with them.

Think of it: the guy says that he'd rather have the Ukrainians brake his bones and hit him to the face than having to bear the guilt of having been on the wrong side of the war. Still, he thoroughly admits his mistake. Many people aren't ready to do it with much smaller things. Instead of admitting their mistake, they come up with all kind of excuses and evasions to avoid having to take responsibility for their words or actions. Sometimes it seems almost like a norm on social media. In my mind honesty and integrity in general are like endangered species in today's world. They urgently need protection and support, and people need to wake up to their utmost importance to our well being and even survival as a species.

IF that was Ukrainians. It’s YT and you have no real idea of the original source, or the agenda of whoever’s behind the channel that posted the vid. The assumption is your own. IF it was genuinely Ukrainians…All I can say is that there are a few bad ba5tards in every population, that does not make the entire population bad ba5tards. The main point is that the vast majority of Ukrainians wish to live in peace and wish to live in and build a better, fairer, safer, society for their children. The path they’ve chosen by common consensus is Democracy. They’re committed to that goal and “liberation” by Russian invasion has no part in achieving it. Slava Ukraini 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇦

Major Respect for Ukrainian people the strength of this nation is pure xx with ❤ they serve together in any way they can xx All they've Endured each day from Russia is 😢 terrorist moves , Yet they only become more united in strength. They had no army so the Ukrainian nation stepped up and became Warriors!!! I watch in awe and pray for victory. I wish the other countries were doing more. I hope one day I can come to visit a free Ukraine 🇺🇦 to pay my Respect to the fallen xx the tears I spill yet I know not one from Ukraine, but the losses 💔 😢 This is a war that can only be won by Ukrainian Warriors and will be. All my love from England 🇬🇧

You are Correct....a Well documented Fact!. My Wife's Father witnessed it "First Hand"....a Russian mass wave assault against a low ridge line Held by German Infantry. And when the assault failed and retreated the Germans saw and heard Russian machine guns Cutting down their own Troops by the Hundred!.

Indeed. However as a whole the Russian people will need to reckon with their own historical past and present. Until they do the good people cannot come to the fore, and its the good people who have to drive the change.

It's hard to imagine but he's lucky. Prigozhin's troops would have used him and his fellow soldiers to clear mine fields by running across the fields and getting blown up. Once they lost a leg or a foot they were left to bleed out. Only when a path was cleared did the Wagner forces advance. I consider myself a civilized person as do most of us but I've heard soldiers on intercepted calls telling their families what hell being in Ukraine is and their families always refer back to the propaganda that all is well, but some believe their soldier and are trying to get them out. I can't imagine the awakening of Russian society when they learn that Putin sent almost 200K fathers, sons, husbands to a certain death. Perhaps when they can't bury their family member because he was left to rot on a battlefield and can't be identified will they believe that what they were told and shown was all lies. Perhaps then we will see change in Russia. I'm not holding my breath. Ukrainian's are an honorable people so I never expected less. Victory for Ukraine!
