I think the Stranger is actually one of the Blue Wizards. We know hardly anything about them & it would make far more sense timeline wise. The second age is also something we know not much about & the 'timeline' for it has been pieced together by others after Tolkien passed. Fans like to say theres a clear story they're deviating from but thats just not the case

Looks better than season 1 its caught my interest but we see i hope its good but I'm not gonna get my hopes up

I don't know what all those haters problem is... I loved Season 1... it pretells everything, it just doesn't line up exactly... but there's 1000's years difference between... I recognize that! I think they will continue to bridge that gap, and hopefully keep to what they've built so far!

Agreed, the problem is that people act as though they know that it will be horrible despite not watching it. I can’t remember who it was but someone did a poll and they found that about 40% of the haters from the first season admitted to not having watched it at all. Thats not to say it didnt have its issues, just that it wasnt as terrible as many make it out to be.

First started reading LotRs and Tolkien in the 1970s when I was in junior high, I liked season one well enough and I look forward to this

They have no desire to have nuanced discussions, engage with the show or the text on any meaningful level, or try and piece together how this adaptation is going to play out. It’s always simple put downs. It says a lot about people like you. Hopefully your attitude changes in the future, as you may find life more enjoyable.

Contrary to what the father said, there is not a strong foundation of lore for the part of Tolkien's canon that they are depicting in this show. Part of the reason is because the studio only has the rights to certain sections of certain books. Inherently, the studio has a blank slate to tell whatever story they want to, to flesh out the bare-bones narrative of the Second Age with something approaching Akallabêth (from the Silmarillion). I don't like this trailer because of how dark it is. There was a light-hearted sense of wonder in a lot of Tolkien's work that I think is totally absent from this very expensively produced show.

I disagree with the absent of a sense of wonder and light in the series. There was a lot of that in the first season. But the Second Era is a time of war with Sauron, who sowed darkness everywhere. And the time of Numenor who was also an invader. The story has to get darker. The feeling of wonder will not go away.

The Tolkien estate never released the full rights, only the appendices, no Silmarillion or anything else and it shows, still watching though

Explain what they'd do with rights to Silmarillion? They're not making a Fist Age story. They got enough about Numenor, so you can cut out 80% of what's written in Silmarillion about the 2nd age. They got individual rights for names and characters they need from other books (they can use Annatar, Blue Wizards etc even if they're not named in trilogy+hobbit+appendices).

They’re not adapting the Silmarillion. They don’t need the rights to the Silmarillion, and have been working closely with the Tolkien Estate from the beginning. Anything specific that they need, like the name of Annatar, for instance, they can acquire on a case by case basis. Everything else that they need they already have. I think a big part of the confusion surrounding this show is that people still don’t know exactly what they’re adapting. They’re crafting a narrative to get us through the Second Age, using the main story beats from the Tale of Years in Appendix B. That’s it. They don’t need anything else.

I think a lot of floks don't understand the Amazon has got rights to the appendiges of Lord of the Rings and not any of his works. So they can't take many stories out of Hobbit, LOTR, Silmirilion, and a host of other books. They are fleshing out a story which has not be told by Tolkien other than notes. This is difficult as these the the Original Fantasy Lore of the English Language, a lot of people will be unhappy as they would think they are rewriting Tolkien's stories. They are not; they are expanding a portion of the story that has been left untold. Thus there would hits and misses. I think it is up to individuals to believe it is a hit or miss. This is a challanging job to say the least. A quite thankless one from the floks at Prime as there has been so much crude talk without seeing the actual product as if you are looking to hate whatever be the case. This is the what they are up against. I lot of people who a keyboard critics

I enjoyed the first season quite a lot. The Elves and Humans were my favourite characters. and I enjoyed this teaser. It sets up season 2 having a darker vibe than the first season. The first 3 episodes of season 2 will be released on the same day and then the remaining episodes weekly. I like the aspect of doing a both a bingeing and weekly release model.

1:35 don't listen to the people saying "it's not true to the books" the characters are true to the books whatever the haters are saying if you read Nature of Middle Earth, People of Middle earth, Morgoth's ring, Unfinished tales and some of tolkien's letters you know the characters are on point. The second age is a period tolkien wrote very little about (and amazon doesnt even own all the rights to what happen during this period) so doing a show about it means you HAVE to come up with some things, that was season 1, they invented some storylines and characters to set up the actual "canon" events that tolkien wrote, otherwise it would have been 5 seasons of 8 episodes with just 4 to 10 characters doing one big thing and then doing nothing for 1500 years. Season 2 will be about things Tolkien wrote and it will be great, thanks to the set up in season 1 :)

The hate this show gets is ridiculous.the first season was decent. But any show cant be expected to compete with the original novels or the movies. This is an expanded story that's filling in where the books doesn't explore. If the estate of the writer has no problem with it then I shouldn't either. Most of the hate that this show is getting isn't about the storyline its about the roles not being all Caucasian actors. It's also saddens me when I hear other minorities spewing the same diatribes just to get subscribers. And by no means I'm referring to you guys but the vitriol of hate for colored people in a fantasy show,a show based on fantasy! Shows me that we haven't grown since people were protesting people like my aunt attending their schools back in the 60's. It's the same as people that spew online hate when there's a person of color dressing up as their favorite anime characters. But they don't say what they really mean just insert the word woke. Whenever I hear "I'm going to wait and see " I feel people's minds have already been made up they're just waiting for the majority of viewers to say whether they like it or not. I used to sub to 40 channels now I'm down to less than 15 due the change in the reactors attitude when they're watching something like they just can't wait to nitpick things apart.
