We've NEVER SEEN a CB like Tariq Woolen: Film Breakdown
Спорт
In this film breakdown, we take a look at Seahawks rookie cornerback Tariq Woolen. Woolen has an unusual combination of size, speed, and length that gives him an incredible advantage over most NFL WRs. He's put up very strong numbers so far this season, with 4 INTs already. Here, we analyze what makes him so special, what he can still improve on, and what his ceiling might be.

He already is and he's only getting better. The NFL is about markets and keeping more fans happy but if the season ends right now there are good cases that offensive and defensive ROYs are in Seattle and you have 3 guys on offense that are legit, Lucas, Cross, and Walker. Particularly Lucas and Walker on Offense. Tariq is an absolute freak and as the season goes on he just looks better and better. They play the Bucs this weekend and I fully expect Brady to test him and get a "U MAD BRO" moment. Can't forget Mafe, when he gets going he looks so much like Cliff Avril. He doesn't have the stats but I expect them to pick up. Then you have Geno playing damn near lights out, droppin dimes and taking what the defense gives him. He not throwing a ton down field but watching him move in the pocket and that pinpoint accuracy reminds me kind of like a mix of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. He takes what's there a lot like Brady but also tests deep and moves really well like Rodgers. Not saying he's necessarily on that level but if he keeps this up he's gotta be Comeback Player of the Year and if he has a few really good wins and games he may be MVP. I remember people being so down on the Seahawks and I don't know if there's a way to track comments or not but even last year I saying how nice it was to see the offense run properly, I knew Geno would get the job and said as much. People said the pick of KW3 was a waste, I loved the pick and said as much on every platform I could, commented on every article that gave the pick a shit grade. We got two good tackles and a good RB, why the hate? I think it's just people don't really watch the Seahawks unless they're doing good like now. Fans watch em all year and if you know football you can see the issues. Russ was an issue and that's why when he went down last year a lot of Hawks fans were kinda stoked to see what Geno could do. He played better plain and simple whether the statline agrees or not. That's around the time Penny got going and was rushing for like 150 a game. Coincidence? Broncos got absolutely fleeced in that deal. Hawks fans have always known Russ can't throw across the middle or in the quick game, and it was extremely frustrating because we had good slots and Tightends. Now you see it fully exposed.

@@TheGollberg Seattle don’t care about your ranking, how many stars you had where you went to college none of that lol. Pete Carrols philosophy has always been find the ones with the shit you can’t teach (raw talent/athletic gift, speed, size) and I’ll teach them the rest and he does it very very well. He’s a very likable guy that makes you wanna give it your all
Richard Sherman and "Prime Time" were the best/scariest CB I have ever watched in the NFL. Both were so dangerous, the other teams made their playing time boring by NOT throwing their direction. Tariq Woolen sure seems to be going their direction, but time will tell. He has to say in shape (Not lose any SPEED) and stay away from the injury bug.

Tariq Woolen is on his way to be coming Richard Sherman 2.0 in prime time 2.0! He's that good. I live here in Seattle so I get to watch him play every week and I'm amazed at his athleticism and ability to read different routes and make adjustments on the fly. He still has some work to do on his game but hell dudes a rookie! We've got some exciting years ahead of us with this guy on our team! Not to leave out the two rookie guards on the O line!
He's going to get so much better remember he's a converted wide receiver.

Its a great strategy. Im a big Mizzou fan and were starting to produce some stud corners by converting WRs to the position. Kris Abrams Draine is a fantastic player and potential 1st round pick who was originally a WR, we had another 4 star WR who is like 6'3 come in this year who we are converting to corner.
2 years of lifting weights with us is gonna make him a monster.

Say hi for me
All those early Woolen plays, are now making it impossible for QB's to beat him. He's a rookie, he has all-pro play making abilities that QB's hate to face. This Sunday Tom Brady will test him. I think Tom's in trouble, if he tries to bait Woolen into PI calls. I see Woolen getting a pick on him. And Woolen has a good chance to be better than Sherman.

@@gtaskrrt5928 I recognize him as my freak brother. So let it be written. So let it be done.
He’s the fastest ever at over 6’ tall. The third fastest ever at the Combine. You said the third fastest over 6’. Not a big deal except to show how unique he is. Every draftnik in the country said late 1st to 3rd round for him. The NFL got this wrong again. Chalk one up for the non-NFL scouts, again. Same was true of DK Metcalf and others. Traits matter and players picked in later rounds with traits AND character tend to become huge value picks. Happens every year, so why don’t teams do it constantly? Best athlete at OL ever to Bills in 3rd round (Spencer Brown) locked down RT from day one and despite ankle issues seems like he’s going to be one of the league’s best for many years. Maxx Crosby is probably as good as any DE, taken in the 4th round. Teams should look hard at the Freaks list and find the ones with the right mental makeup and go for them every year.

Pete Carroll was asked that, and he said his film was really not good. But Pete's specialty has always been coaching up guys like this, and Sherman came to help a bit I thought I heard(?). So I'm thinking a good % of this might be that he went to the right coaches and the right system. For sure, though, the player himself has to want to improve and put in the work.
