Too many comments on here from folk who've never been to Erin, never mind that gaff, ms moore. I'm a tyke , born n bred, and just love what i would see as an honest review. I know from being in yee isle ( 1987, north n south.) some of the people can be a little "too precious" about the country/state. (Should'nt be too long love, i'm with ya )

That’s the thing with Supermacs. It’s wildly inconsistent. Can be really good and frequently awful. They might get away with it if it was great value but at 11 euro now for a burger and chips lots of Irish people have stopped going. Hot and crispy chips one day. Soft and limp yuk chips the next day. One day you might get salt and serviettes in your takeaway bag. Next day there’s none. And your cursing them in your car. One day you get your coke with a straw. Next day it’s in a coffee cup. I could go on. It’s terrible. At least with the professional brands you get consistency and better value.

Fair play Matt! Look, its not gourmet burger stuff but its decent for the price point. Alot of people don't realise but high quality grass fed beef goes into McDonalds and SuperMacs in Ireland. We only do good beef here!! Buns in my experience are not that flat.The onion rings are actually pretty cracking and chicken fillet burger is really good if you ever get to try them! Anyway, fair play to you coming back ☘

Can't believe you made it to Carrickmacross and missed the opportunity to sample a chicken kebab, chips and garlic dip at Gino's, (Roma II), just up the street!! This is a really good Supermacs when you're in the mood, but Gino's chips are outlandishly good.

i live in Monaghan town very seldomly in Carrickmacross the last time i was there was March 2020 just before the lockdowns hit Ireland we got Supermacs because your town is the only one with a Supermacs in Monaghan lol i would happily trade our Mcdonalds for your Supermacs anyway if i am ever in Carrickmacross again ah i might go to Gino's

I went last week when visiting Dublin with the gf we loved it. She got the chicken and got the triple burger. That gaffer of the shop seems a good chap. Best of luck to him and his team.

Same with every fast food chain. If you go to one late at night in a city centre, you're unlikely to get a good example of what they offer. Go to a quieter place at a quieter time and it'll be better. Esp if they spot you and know who you are.

I thought your initial review was perfect, it's horrendous, in general, only good one I've ever had was at a stag in Galway at about 4am and I had no taste buds by then.

Fun fact: Supermacs won a trademark lawsuit taken against them by McDonald's

McDonald’s actually lost the right to sell their Big Mac under that name for a brief time in Europe as a result of the case.

Just watched this straight after the Dublin one, kudos for giving then a second chance. Not sure which video was the one with comments comparing to McD's, but they should have added some caveats regarding how inconsistent Supermac's are across the country with Dublin likely being the worst by a country mile. I personally prefer BK than either, but can't fault McD's on being consistent. I think part of the reason why Supermac's are like that, is that it's a bit more of a hybrid franchise, with some of the stores being privately owned. Pretty sure Des actually owns that one and has a certain amount of freedom on what serves, whereas the ones in Dublin are most likely just normal franchises.

Next time you're in Belfast check out Wingos on Sandy Row. Recently won NI Takeway of the year and only been open one year. Smash Burgers, Wings, Rice Boxes, Dirty Fries etc

I've eaten in Supermacs for 25 years, as recently as last week. I had a snack box, in the hope that this time the chicken would taste as good as it did a few years ago...yet again I was disappointed. Up to 5 years ago, I would have rated Supermacs number 1, I've gradually found better tasting food and value in more local chippers.

Supermacs can be hit or miss, it depends on the restaurant. It’s not as consistent as McDonald’s. But I think it’s better than McDonald’s anyway. But the first restaurant you went to is really bad so I’m not surprised you hated it.

i will give credit to Mcdonalds while it is Mediocre it's consistently Mediocre like it's never amazing but it's also never like very bad it's consistent even if it is mediocre

Regardless of if I actually like the food (subjectively) I would come here to this location and spend 30$ EASILY. The owner and the team seemed very friendly and the food actually looked great.

While you’re in Ireland, few things you might want to try, difficult to get in uk, Club Orange, red lemonade, tayto & king crisps, brunch, maxi twist, superquinn sausages, bundies, last 2 you’d get in SuperValu, the rest you could get in any garage or supermarket

Red lemonade is not that easy to find in most stores , plus Tk only sell it in 2 litre bottles so stick to the supermarkets for it

Club orange occasionally see in corner shops, some Morrisons sell red lemonade, Northern Irish tayto are easier to get

Chicken fillet is good. It's still way ahead of Micky ds, 8 is fair if you go regularly in countryside.

Funnily enough, the greatest chicken goujons known to mankind are down the road in the roma!

Roma in carrickmacross just down the bottom of the town , it does one of the best Chicken Fillet burgers you will taste far and wide 👌

Definitely much more substantial food than the likes of McD’s. Plus it’s Irish owned.

You need to go to the famous Tony's bistro North main st cork and get the fry up best in Ireland

I’ve got supermacs many times & the biggest critique is they’ve served cold chips many times that have been left out waiting for an order.

Well lucky enough there's no closed curtains in supermacs u can see them cook the chips

I don’t find the chips to be excellent and the chickens pretty dry usually .. granted - if I do order , I usually order early cos it’s open on a hangover day…lol

You have to try Supermacs in moate co Westmeath. Recommended!

One of my favourite things about a trip to Galway was visiting Super Macs and another place called Sachs which was a very authentic 50's style diner. Haven't been back to Galway in a long time, but the Dublin Super Macs' is terrible. Staffed by rude, monosyllabic migrants who treat you with contempt. The Super Mac's taste is something like this - think of Mc Donald's, but the burgers actually taste like beef and the buns have a sort of pancake flavour to them. I love a good Super Macs occasionally. There are some things they do wrong too, the curry sauce is garbage for a start. I was going to open my own gourmet fast food place in Donegal, but lockdowns happened just when I had the money, so invested elsewhere. I'd love to reformulate some of Super Macs' menu.

They get dogs very excited and milk them and use the gooey liquid the dogs produce. They then mix that with vinegar.

Ye the last supermacs u went to is a tourist trap beside temple bar I worked in supermacs in that tourist trap place they pre crook and reheat the food cause they know its not locals eating it most food quality in dublin is shit cause if this reason

The superman’s in Dublin is for when you’re pissed drunk. You know it’s shite but your hungry. These supermacs in country towns are places will people will take their kids like you see in the video and the staff actually care about the food they put out
