Having raced wheel-to-wheel at OIR three times, I don’t think your tabloid headline hits the spot. After a year of racing and track-day events, OIR hasn’t yielded the predicted carnage. But it has created a lot of fans! Thank goodness we didn’t get another country-club cookie cutter track!

It always cracked me up seeing people complain how the track is too dangerous. I have regularly driven the Nürburgring… people in the States have no idea what dangerous actually is.

The track layout is pretty good the construction not so. To many turns fall away and out the back side with negative camber. Look at the corners where most of the skid marks are and damaged railing that get damaged continuously in the same spot. The cambers on a lot of the corners are dangerous. The weight of the car, especially with street tires, with negative cambering upsets the stability of most cars to where the weight and kenectic mometum of the car makes the car want to slide out the back end of the corners. It's not over driving the track its the physics construction of most of the corners. If the corners were flat and level, would help. I here cars struggling to maintain traction at 40-60 mph. The cars weight shifts to the outside unloading traction as the corner drops out and away. Street tires very dangerous for these corners, real race prepped cars with real racing slicks is more safe. It's a cool track but basically a 100 mph average or below track because of these negative camber corners. I notice racing karts have same lap times as a 700hp race cars. It's about the phsyics construction of most of the corners. It's fun yes. As years go on and the track brings in more attention and profits, can reconstruct and build up these corners that fall out and away to at least flat or positive camber corners and you will see less wrecked cars, faster lap times and much faster than above average hwy speeds.

I don't know of anyone being injured there and you title this like you might die? That's sad and misleading. The track is like nothing I've driven and I've run on two continents. We are lucky to have a guy ballsy enough to build it knowing there would be comments like that. I get that your content was very different than your sensational title but IMHO you're just feeding the negative chatter from a bunch of guys who don't race and have never been there.

Bikes are like the manual crowd that always complain about a new sports car being released without a manual option, and when a manufacturer finally release a manual option they don’t actually buy it anyways.
