We Surprise my Dad with his high school truck!

Фильм және анимация

We built new axles for my dads highschool truck and surprise him with it. It has been in the shop for 20 years and now is finally back on the road. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to see more truck builds. There is a part 2 coming on the bronco we also fixed for him.

Agreed. The stigma or stereotype that men don't/shouldn't cry or that it's a weakness is silly - we can have feelings, it's healthier too than bottling it up. That said, awesome job and I can see the care and happiness this giant truck brings to the family so fantastic work.

I wish I knew where my 1978 Chevy El Camino is. That was my first car. Found it completely rebuilt with a 350 L48 (Camaro engine) at a junk yard. All the chrome trim for the car was in boxes in the bed and it was just primed and needed a paint job. Ran like a dream. Paid $800 for it, and $300 for a brand new Metallic Blue paint job, then put all the chrome back on over the weekend. Next week got my license. I wish I'd never sold it. So many memories in that car, I'd probably cry if I saw it again. I wouldn't even care if it was still running. I'd rebuild and restore it again.

Great work man. The story behind it is what makes the video. When your father passes, you'll still feel his presence every time you step into that classic and start it up. Great, down home, humble video without all the extra hype of overboard video editing. Some of us tend to find our own alone time to break down and let it all come out. I'm certain your dad does the same. I miss my "old fart" grandpas. Your little story takes me back to those days. Thank you for the share.

I never cry and I got tears for him getting his truck back. He has many happy memories with family members now departed. They will all come flooding back everytime he throttles up. And, that young Grandson will never forget the first ride in that revived Monster Truck either. You can see it in his eyes at the end. My buddy had a 1977 F-250 with a 17" life kit, built 460/C6 auto 4x4, and 44" Dick Cepek Monster Mudders and the same Western Wheels. That truck would climb anything. You brought those memories back for me too. THANKS for posting this.

I have a 2007 F150, with 315,000 miles. I don't use it everyday but when I do I love driving it. I thought I saw a Chevy S10 in the video, I had one of those prior to my F150, stick shift I had 500,000 miles on it ( I drove long distant to work ) . Good job in taking care of your father and remember to follow his lead with your own children.

This brings back a lot of memories ! Followed Chandler and company with my 3 boys all through the 80’s and 90’s. Went to a lot of Jamborees etc. I still have my 97 350 today, ordered it and kept it. They will get it when I am gone. Gonna send them this video, I am sure it will hit home. Thanks for sharing !

Love them old school rigs like that. Such an awesome surprise for your dad, loved how the garage door opens and dad gets stopped in his tracks and then lost for words. Awesome video.

Truly a great story and a beautiful truck! I'm lucky enough to have my dads 75 F-250 that he bought new. He passed in 2018. I did an almost 3 year long restoration on it. Lots of memories.

We have a 75 F250 as well that my dad brought new and had 42 inch super swampers on it as well. All of us kids drove it in high school and my dad upgraded the engine a few times. Body was fully rusted out as my dad spent a lot of time at the beach surf fishing so we did a frame off restoration a about 10 years ago but stopped working on it when he had a stroke. Hoping this will be the year we get finish it and get it back on the road now that he is finally doing better. Crazy how an old truck can hold so much sentimental value and play such a part in a family.

Very cool! My grandfather had a tone tone green Ford truck the same vintage. He also had a '63 Ranchero. I wish I could find those again today to restore.

Some men/dad put on such a strong front and show very little or no cracking because men are men and you don’t show weakness (very old school thinking), but I have a strong feeling many of these strong men find some alone time from loved ones and just sit and have a really good cry. Let it out, gather one self and back to the grind and back to being the strong figure for the family. Remaining strong is so hard when so much around you is going wrong, so honestly nothing but respect to your father for doing it for so long.

Love vehicles that have a long family history like that! I now live in Houston, TX, but seeing snow like that makes me long for the good old days growing up and sledding back home in Minnesota! Hope your old man enjoys his rebuilt ride……👍

Wish my son would surprise me with my 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo! It's probably in the trash heap by now though. Great car. Wish I still had it! Bright orange with a black leatherette roof. I must have waxed that car hundreds of times during the 7 or so years that I owned it. Memories.
