i agree with your points here, I really hope they improve the situation going on.

While I do agree having a changelog for alpha changes I don't agree with having what bugs are being fixed displayed. Since these changes are well, on alpha, they are still present on the main server and could potentially get abused in whatever way (probably some not so obvious ways too). As for giving an idea of what an update is going to look like before I personally believe Minikloon did a somewhat decent job of this on his yt channel, for example: he gave a list of some of the more complicated things they've made for the rift, he gave a sneak peak on the updated stats menu and gave some form of a tutorial on gabagool minions before they ever released/hit the alpha. If they could do more like this, 1 minute to 5 minute videos on whatever changes they're working on I believe that would give people more of an idea on what they're actually working on.

I think he meant more bug fixes related to the update being tested on alpha. For example if there was a bug with something in glacite tunnels and they fixed it they would mention it. It wouldn't be as useful for the people testing things on alpha but it would still be better than knowing nothing at all. The minikloon videos were always a great way to see stuff in advance. I remember first seeing the prismapump on one of his videos and getting hyped for how much better building farms would be.

I agree that they need to communicate better. The updates truly feel like the admins just dont play their own game and are completely out of the loop/uninvolved with the game outside of their "work" you could say. I really wish theyd get some sort of team or process together to interact with us more, it would really help the game be better for literally everyone

I used to agree with this, but now this is kinda untrue, hypixel has been making major revamps to a LOT of things, mining v3, berserker update (though that was 8 or so months ago), and they have been making small updates in between, also the dragon update which is confirmed to release, just it is being kept in alpha for balancing. Not only that, but they have also been making good progress on updating to 1.20 and the foraging update (according to the admins)

I think it's a little bit of everything. Recently they had opened up a spot for a Community Manager iirc, which I think would be the person dedicated to doing some of the things you talk about on the video, like giving insight on an update or talking about specific changes and the reasoning behind them. But I think they have either not found one yet, or they have them occupied with something else. I also think that the fact that they are releasing rushed updates is because there have been times where people have complained about the lack of frequent updates on skyblock. And I think they have to weight between having constant updates, or have a larger period without one, but releasing a fully finished one (which imo the latter would be the best option, as it would avoid many of the issues you comment on the video). It's also true that it seems they don't really listen to feedback. A lot of people talked about how the key-requiring frozen corpses loot was very underwhelming for both the amount of time and materials they costed (specially vanguard corpse), yet they just added a little bit more loot to the pool of items, but you can still get comically bad rewards from a corpse, even the vanguard one. Forge times were also talked about, and while in this newest patch they have reduced the time for some things, there are others that are still way too long, like mithril plates which still take half a day to forge (on top of the time it takes to forge the golden plate and the refined materials), they upped the forge time of the perfect plate to 6 hours (which makes skeleton keys take way more time to forge, as now you have to wait for the mithril plate, the tungsten/umber plate, and then the perfect plate, all to then be able to forge the key). It seems as if they change some things for the good, and some for the bad. Updates do seem rushed. Even this current alpha patch seems rushed. Like what was the purpose of adding new Dark Auction items into an already inflated economy? I don't see a point in adding such a thing, instead of adding other ways to obtain said items. Hell the Magic Ball could have been a replacement for the Umber Dice that is "COMING SOON", and make it be forged with all the gems related to the buffs it gives, but instead they make it a single buy item that will cause its price to skyrocket. I understand them wanting to change Bal as a % increase in stats could be detrimental to the addition of items in the future. And in the latest edit they talked about that, and that they plan to add newer sources that would provide the stats that are being lost from the Bal change, but my question is: why not implement said changes alongside this change at the same time? Why that need to nerf or significantly change something so suddenly and then saying "oh the things we took away from you are coming in a future update that will come who knows when". Thankfully they have backtracked and will not implement the Bal changes until they also implement those other new sources for the stats that would be removed. One thing that I'd also like to talk about is why they add insanely time-gated+rng dependant loot. From the addition of the Vanguard armor to the API we can assume that at some point they will add either an armor that competes with Divan, or a direct upgrade to it (and I say assume because, as the update was released incomplete, we don't really know if that armor will ever come out), but there's no new drill, and that is because Divan's alloy is subjected to such a low chance of dropping, that if they made an upgrade to Divan, it'd be locked for most players behind an RNG drop that doesn't even have a pity system. The addition of the shattered locket/pendant of divan means that there will also possibly never be any other type of upgrade to it, because it would force players to get an rng dependant item to obtain it. RNG Meter was added to dungeons as well as slayers specifically for this reason. So why do they still add completely random, pity-less mechanics, instead of either not making them excessively rare, or giving them a pity system from the start? (whether it be RNG Meter or something else). All in all, I hope that from the current backlash the admins will finally listen to our feedback and start making more finished updates instead of unfinished/dlc awaiting ones, and also start giving us some insight on some of the changes they want to make, so that at least we are on the same page.

i was just going to quit if bal change rolled. i am just finishing my mining setup on my ironman. i have spent like 250 hours building a money making method, with no alternative being viable, just to lose it. and no, i love ironman in its current state, but needlessly adding large chunks of time making money to compete with normal profiles that can profit from any grind in the game for necessary items... it's just too much. if anything, they need to separate ironman from the economy completely. how much cheaper would cookies be if ironman bought cookies without actually taking one out of the market? or if auctions were separate. but instead the solution is always give ironman no reasonable path forward

they should just make a way to get money that is actually good because i feel like my setup is pretty much maxxed and im not terrible at mining and the most i can make is around 25-27m an hour but you can make over 100m an hour on an regular profile its just alot of mining just to be able to buy a cookie or play dungeons or do slayers let alone try and buy the shen's auction items or dark auction items are so inflated it will take hundreds of hours just to buy them all.

honestly its really dumb, my coop spent so many hours grinding mining v3 and i thought i would wait to see if they change anything and within 2 weeks it's probably twice as easy to max. it's unfair on people who want to max the update as fast as they can and poor thinking from the admins

Example of this could be the necron’s handle and the wither scrolls where the npc sells the handle at say 700 mil and the scrolls at 3 mil per scroll so as to dump a bunch of rare and valuable items into the economy to balance supply and demand

as an ironman the update feels like more of a completion task than progression. I’ve maxed the update except for a locket, but even then the forge time, drop chance, and stats of the locket make it just not worth it. The update just seems like a huge task to keeps us busy for a while, until another update comes out.

I haven't quit, i'm taking my 3rd break of this game the past year. (Had one between Garden - Rift, 2nd end of last year and 3rd now since February) i was hyped for the glacite tunnels, intentionally not watching spoilers to get this old "Omg its update" feeling. While i'm sure it's fun for those who really enjoy mining, i was extremly disappointed to see that it was... just mining 3 new ores and some, arguably, pretty cool pets, so i went back to my break after trying out the update for a few days. I love that game, i played it daily for over 3 years, but lately i just don't feel like the devs are respecting our time and just add tedious and grindy update after another to make a "big" update.

Honestly what i think we need is someone (dev or admin that can comunicate activley with the comunity or nerds in general

I think a skyblock sandbox gamemode would be really good since its obvious that some players would go on alpha to try stuff they don't have I myself have done this granted I also tried the update content but was only on the alpha for like a hour last time I was on it I think after foraging the admins should focus on a sandbox mode

the consistently disconnected updates are so depressing from a lategame pov, there will be some super fun meta that isnt game breaking or anything and then out of nowhere the admins decide its too much and needs to be fixed. also the priorities of the admins seem to be so way off, like releasing pests?? taming 60 was kinda in the middle imo, it wasnt needed but it was coolish? it would be cool if it was actual game content and not just "hey give me pets and ill give you skyblock xp and some pet luck". as if alch, enchanting nor fishing didnt exist. its like they only think that farming and mining exist recently. on top of this the ideas they actually give in the updates are just... uhm... the attribute update. i dont need to say more other than the attribute update. also making a dragon set outdamage everything, be better than everything for every (combat/non rcm/lcm combat wise) purpose just doesnt sit right with me. i mean, its cool and im definitely going to be grinding for 2 sets (renowned for mf/slayers and ancient for dungeons lmfao) but i dont see why 1 set should just outclass everything when the game has so much versatility and you have so much different sets, different purposes for different sets, like the fact that you either spend a bunch of money on mf 10 crimson or you sacrifice ehp and damage to use sorrow for magic find, necron for dungeons, crimson for slayers, aurora for slayers if you're a BITCH, like it's just the way i think the game was supposed to be made, it fits skyblock so well to not have a 1 size fits all armor set. yap session finished 🙏

i heavily agree with you, i hate power creep updates. i have mf 10 vet 9 armor and its getting power creeped by a dragon set, also the admins sometimes feel disconnected with the community no one asked for mining v3, (its cool so idm) just give us actual updates that appreciate players efforts and not make them grind a new set better, but make them grind an UPGRADE to their set like an upgrade to crimson armor connected to foraging update idk i dont wanna yap cuz im barely thinking but yes okay i agree with you

a skyblock sanbox would be good to test items before u buy them because even though u can do the math it will never be the same as in practice

Well one of the reasons i can think about why they limit the number of players on alpha is either it costs "too much" to maintain the alpha server for like 1k or more players or they limit it on purpose so people who wanna play alpha are forced to buy the higher ranks so hypixel makes more money. The big problem i have seen with hypixel during the years I played on sb is that they lack an actual good PR/Community feedback team. The only way they get feedback from the community is either from big KZreadrs that make a vid on a bad change or from the community spamming forum posts on how shitty a change/update was.

that being said i dislike all the game breaking bugs abused by end game players like 1 tap blaze or the current e man meta or even tera trading like people should not be able to make 100m or more a hour unless they get really lucky it just fucks up the balance of the game

It’s a tale as old as time, poor communication leads to issues I think ultimately there needs to be a QA team built that specifically functions as a bridge between staff and players but I mean as a mid game player 240 8b nw this isn’t a problem to me really because there’s a good few thousand hours of shit to do first

From my view as a level 380 player i likes the updates and bug fixex cause that makes my time easier. But from the endgame site its horrible. Also why do we have rev t5 for like 3 years now but no wolf and tara t5? Why cant i add my divans drill to the museum, so that it also counts for the tita x655. Some be i think are still stupid high. Why is phlsgeblast only 7 which is finished pretty quick and you also fish up other stuff doing that. But then there is broodmother 400 kill be. Or the crimson isle mini bosses are so high compared to flaming spiders for example. Id say be should not be that different.

The game just feels tiring to play now. You need to spend hundreds of hours just to get a new items, although money is easier to grind due to inflation you have to do a lot of mind numbing tasks just to makes enough. It’ve been like this for years which made me lost a lot of motivation to play and since the game is grindy as hell, new contents just feels like a waste of time to play for me. I was active a lot few years ago grinding for eman 7 in 2 days after the update goes lived, my necron’s blade is in the 100-200 first crafted, terminator is in 300-400 first crafted. Last years I even bought a full god roll set of aurora and terror to play kuudra but I quit because I need key to do kuudra. The only thing stopping me from making those god roll sets becoming inferno is that I have to grind for nether stars to open the reward chests. What I need to do to grind for nether star is extremely repetitive and boring. Skyblock devs definitely need to make the game less grindy or at least make the grinding fun. I don’t have problem grinding dungeons and slayers because it actually have a gameplay elements that makes it fun

100% agree with everything you said but one thing the alpha que I'm not a big fan of having it locked behind ranks instead I would prefer if it was gated behind sb lvl for instance lets say glaciate part 2 for the first like 2-3 hours of alpha being open allow only 300+ players on then after 3 hours let 200+ on then a few more hours after that let lvl 100 + on. I see 0 reason on y anyone below lvl 100 should be allowed on alpha you just don't have the knowledge of the game to rly contribute to helping test stuff unless the alpha update is something like a gold mine revamp or some super super early game island even then i dont think people below lvl 100 would be tons of help. i should also mention for the sandbox idea I rly love that idea idk if ill play it but it would be sick before I get any hate I am a lvl 290 mvp+ player ign: Tsusauce1 and I realize that some people might hate this idea but its just a random thought I had after hearing him talk ab the que anyways I'm curious on other peoples ideas as well lol.

They need to make the content get easier over time because if new players want to get the best profiles or sky block level they would have to catch up to 10,000 of hours of stuff whilst still doing the new content. I think they should buff mining even more to increase the amount of money you make so it’s easier for Ironman players to get more money. To help with countering inflation, they should add an npc that sells rare and valuable items that players really want/need at a price that’s between expensive but reasonable.

I just dont get the idea of the last balance chances. Bal chance is completely insane but the other chances are weird too. For example scatha pet not giving powder buff from chests and the new glacite golems powder buff being "MOST PLACES" is so dumb.They made drills buff the powders a year ago and now they are nerfing pets for it. There is no new drill for the new powder too. Mining up to new content is long enough. They need to buff the old stuff for some players to catch up and have fun not grind too much. Because the new content is grindy too.

The reason why everything is open on alpha rather than just the updated stuff is because there are often random bugs that come with the update for no reason. Minecraft’s code is weird so changing one thing may affect something entirely different for no reason. Think about the hex update and how 3 different dungeons wipes came with it despite the update having nothing to do with dungeons. I also think having a sandbox is bad because it makes the items you get on main to be so much less satisfying. Also I think this video shows how the admins are already struggling with 2 servers so adding a whole new chaotic sandbox server would cause a whole bunch more problems. A lot of the points you made were valid, but I just take issue with the part about focusing alpha and creating a separate server. Also I think another big problem with the alpha is that it is more of a sneak peak server rather than a bug testing server. I think people should be more encouraged to try weird stuff and interactions to report bugs because at the current stage of alpha the only people doing that keep their methods to abuse when the update does come out.
