I really love your cats. It makes my day when you include shots of them in amusing places like on top of a pc that would cause most people to freak out. They are so funny. Please don't ever stop including them in your content.
appreciate you making a realistic build video for a production task like video editing. its cool to see the best of the best but most people can't afford that. i appreciate videos like this showing how to build a decent system on a budget and going into the rationale behind certain decisions (like the slower memory).
At first I was like... "Misha? Which Misha could it be that der8auer knows, it can't be the Misha I know." Turns out it IS that Misha! Nicely done indeed.

Very sensible choices, plus open for an easy upgrade path down the line.
Epic builds!
Awesome job sir!
Well done, good builds.
i like this build, very reasonable, no flashy rgb stuff, has all the horsepower it could need to perform the task it needs to do, and has the headroom for future upgrades if they happen, a slightly overpowered psu is just good practice in case a more power hungry component is added to the system.
The non RGB ram and the clearance they have under the CPU cooler makes the build look really clean.
Hey Der8auer, one thing I cannot unhear is that you never pronounce the plural form of any unit. Like watts, euros, centimeters other than that pretty well spoken English. As a fellow German myself I can’t stand the German accent ( though having a bad one myself). Keep up your great work/content
A note for some editors, if you work with 10bit h265 at all (only certain consumer cameras, or smartphones, will do this), then intel cpu could be worth it since Intel’s igpu have hardware decoding for this, but no discrete graphics cards do. DaVinci will let you offload decoding to your igpu while using your nvidia card for everything else

Was going to say just this
The collab we were looking for 🙌
My kinda video! :) For DR I would've gone for 7900xt for similar/ cheaper price and more vram, coz Resolve lives to use a lot of it. Would be interesting to see how it handles one of Micha's projects and the codecs he's using 🤔
For anyone looking to build a video editing rig: Intel is a monster when it comes to exporting thanks to UHD. Enabling "Multi Monitor mode" allows the dGPU to pass off export tasks (or any tasks that benefits from QuickSync) to the iGPU. I recently found out how well this works and it was pretty impressive.
@PainterVierax
12 күн бұрын
Well, I guess it depends if Quicksync is relevant in the workflow. No need to focus on it when mostly working on raw video files or using software encoding.
Makita looking glorious, did you intend to show the iGPU for all the power consumption tests, does resolve not use the add in for rendering?
I would have gone with a 14700K cpu for Resolve specifically for its core speed as well as the iGPU drivers that can accelerate the video render workdlow in Resolve, especially in combination with Nvidia drivers. But overall a really nice and tasteful build. There's something about the blacked out no-rgb aesthetics that feels so nice.
@sergioav7278
2 күн бұрын
Pretty bad choice of a cpu. They have similar performance in davinci and premiere while consuming between 50% and 100% more power. It might require an AiO depending on the work and will be noisier if paired with an air cooler because it will need to dissipate more heat. It has no upgradeability path and the boards are more expensive overall. There's no reason to pick intel for a new build right now besides the discounted 12600kf and the below 90 dollar 12100f.
@Real_MisterSir
2 күн бұрын
@@sergioav7278 Highly depends on the usecase. For professional work, it's generally more favorable to get the thing that does the job well here and now, as usually such rigs won't be swapping out parts every year anyways. And then if you need to upgrade after 2 years or more, doing a cpu+mobo swap at that point wont net you more than an extra 200 bucks anyways, which is hardly a cost-per-year concern. All cost is a budget concern of course, but some aren't as necessary to stress about, compared to what most consumers are affected by more frequently. The Intel iGPU drivers can benefit quite substantially in various tasks and render time when working on h26.. codecs etc, and the larger the content format and the more frequent the render queue is used, the more benefit you gain from it. Anyhow, it's why I stated it as what I personally would have done, as I have my own experience to back it and I know my own needs. Others may have different needs in which an AMD cpu would definitely be more optimal. Yours sounds like such a case, and I of course won't try to discredit your reasoning. Just know that it may be a limited perspective.
Great video
When you know you know. Very sensible builds
that case is massive lol
Hey Der8auer! Der8auer is Der8est! Ride ride ride!
Hi Great video as always Whats the best fan curve for front case fans and top radiator fans thank you and keep up the amazing Work
Now the last step left is naming the pc by 'Tiger 2'
This is a machine where if you wanted to try tuning, I'd just focus on CO. You might get 200mhz more which will make little difference but the reduction in power and heat load would be noticable.
love when creators go for the longevity builds. Why go water when air can work just fine, and will work reliably longer is what I'm always saying. Love the build.
Clicked for the kitty, stayed for the video.
Roman, I think you should seriously do a thorough test and review of the Asrock B650 Live Mixer motherboard. I think it's quality and performance would genuinely surprise you.
I have the same Motherboard and CPU. I have 32gb Gsikill Trident Z5 Neo 6000MT/s , 4TB 4x4 Silicon Power NVME, an Arctic Liquid freezer ii 360 AIO, and an EVGA Hybrid 3090. I work on 3D models for resin printing and use Blender and ZBrush along with Lychee Slicer for doing supports. System has been very stable since I built it last September. My only problem has been that I tried adding a second kit of ram and the additional memory kit would not show up. both sets worked by themselves but NOT while populating all 4 ram slots.
What are you machining in that video editing ? Looks interesting
Why does his cat needs 3 video rendering PCs!?
Have a question with asus, for the pbo and curve opt. Yiu used to go to advanced but know it's in tweeker, does it matter wr you use the feature?
Thermalright coolers are such an incredible value, here in the States I've seen the Frost Spirit 140 down below $30, an incredible value, for from what I've seen is the best cooler in their line up, edging out the Phantom Spirit and Peerless Assassin, even beating out the Frost Commander 140 with 1 more 8mm heatpipe and faster max speed fans at least in noise normalized loads the FC140 seems to pullout ahead at max fan speed but at the expensive of more noise for whatever reason the extra heatpipe doesn't seem to help much or really at all.
That Crucial kit is on sale for ~$140 in the US for a 64GB kit. It’s a bit slow compared to other memory timings, but that price for 64GB is pretty nice
Misha is a very cool dude. Meet him at Essen Motorshow last year. :)
There are comparatively few places where daVinci Resolve really needs a more powerful graphics card, but it does really love GPU memory, 16GB cards are a good idea, or more. 12GB on the 4070ti will probably be okay unless there's a long video or a lot of transitions
Hi, are you doing it with AV1 or H165? I'm having 50fps with my G14 7940HS using AV, and only a little better than that with RTX4090 with H265, and lots more power
i'm currently trying to put a rig together for video editing, out of my cupboard parts and some cheap ebay bits that i have, X99E-WS mobo(cupboard) 1000w AXi(cupboard), 1080FTW(cupboard) and a Xeon E5-2697v4(ebay£60) but i am sort of struggling with the amount of memory that would be suitable, the X99E is quad channel, any advice as i'm working with no budget?
That case is chonky! I did something similar in a Pop Mini Silent with a 4080
I wonder if Be Quiet will ever make an itx case. It would be pretty cool especially with their slick style.
I would love to see the rendering computer you made before render theses videos with the resolve server rendering 😮😊
Fantastic video as always! Any chance you might do the same for a music production PC?
@Safetytrousers
13 күн бұрын
PCs reached a point years ago when they could all the music you wanted.
Nice builds! Why not portable itx builds though would have been next level?
Very nice, but a live stream of the build would of been epic!
"It would not overhead...." but Misha can build some CF fins for front lip and rear diffuser airflow. That should cool it plus push those VRMs downwards so that don't fly off at 80 degC.....
Love how peerless assassin gets picked over more expensive noctuas :D

Totally agree, I have an NH-D15, its great (considering that its running since 2014), but at this point in time it really makes little sense over other options. It actually struggles with "new" intel CPUs because of the high power density.
@simoSLJ89
13 күн бұрын
@@mastroitek Agree. I have a D15S Chromax and it' great, but Noctua's roadmap has been a joke for years. They postponed the new D15 so many times. Right now it's scheduled for Q2 24, and the Chromax one Q4 24, let's see!
@BikingChap
13 күн бұрын
@@simoSLJ89 I've run D15s but i resent paying even more for the black paint job and since i tried a 360mm Arctic Freezer and found it both cheaper and far better at cooling under heavy load for extended periods I'm done with air coolers for any kind of intensive workload build. For anything less intensive I'd not consider anything from Noctua as the price simply isn't justified.
@simoSLJ89
13 күн бұрын
@@BikingChap of course AIOs have better performance. I just prefer not to have water in my systems, for peace of mind. If I have to sacrifice 10°C and 200 MHz, that's fine.
@BikingChap
13 күн бұрын
@@simoSLJ89 sure I get that and I used to feel the same but the difference was night and day when rendering on an old 9900k and I feel comfortable with an AIO unlike a bespoke system with endless joints and a separate reservoirs. Horses for courses and all that.
7900x works fine,with 0 lose for editing with PBO 145k-110k-170k at 145watt.With SMT OFF and -15 allcores,you gain 15-20%at lows for gaming
I bought that Asus B650E board 18 months ago and the Intel I226v onboard NIC has never worked properly. It disconnects after a random amount of time. It's a problem many seem to have with that I226v chip...and none of the solutions have solved it for me. Would be interested to know if you have encountered any issues on them 3 boards? I've been having to use a USB ethernet adapter on my £350 motherboard. Crazy 🙄
Love to see a video editing rig for Adobe Premiere Pro
Does sharing lanes between an M2 and a GPU always negatively impact GPU performance? I’m fairly confident im sharing lanes, but the second M2 that is sharing with the GPU is a backup/media drive that is never actively in use while gaming. Does that matter? Or is the connection regardless of use enough to degrade GPU performance in games?
I'm over the moon with your Kryosheet Roman, I knew it was really good but 4 month after shifting from Kryonaut to it, it's ridiculously good to dissipate heat quickly. My LFII 360 does the heavy lifting but my 5900X never goes over 70°c on charge (video/audio editing and gaming) and I know it just works whaterver I do. Kryosheet is just wunderbach, german engineering at it's finest.
@rustler08

I think you mean "wunderbar"
bro, for the Davinci Resolve you would always choose an Intel processor with integrated graphics cause Davinci Resolve uses integrated graphics for hardware decoding
You looked at the on-board GPU to show stats in 2 locations in the video, silly goose.
does this gpu require a anti sag kit if installed in any motherboard?
2:15 that sponsor transition was clean, was like a Linus video hahah, great video and actually good sponsor :D
For me a PC isn't quiet when all the fans are replaced with noctuas. Including the GPU :P Also, due to Ryzen's power density, the fans will constantly ramp up and down on watercooling if you dont manually control it with software. Not sure how quiet Misha wanted them ofcourse :)
8:22 that was the IGPU temps
Nice seque to the ad ;)
do you make a cryosheet for the Intel 1700 chipset that doesn't require cutting?
Any plans for you both to do a lap?
I wonder if thermal grizzly kryosheet works great on my threadripper 3960X I know I might need 4 of them since there no larger option.
Damn! I thought Misha is this beautiful cat :(
your sponsor segment chapter marker in the description says "squarespace", might wanna fix that :)
Frightened by, frightened of, afraid of not afraid by.
I have the same Be Quiet PSU but in the 850 watt variant and the cables are just absurdly short. It's like they didn't actually test fit it in any cases.
Linus-level sponsor segue. 😂
Just a tip, mount the new artic freezer III on an AM4 for a month then remove it and look at the cold plate.. :P
Surprised more people don't spring for a smaller case like the o11 air mini great airflow small dimensions
Why use CPU rendering? I know the quality is slightly higher on the CPU but pump up the bit rate on nvec and enjoy great quality and blazing speed also.
5K for each PC running Resolve? Excess much bro? Dude can drive. If he edits like he drives that's amazing.
Is it made of warm?
IMHO : I would have chosen the standard RTX 4070, not the Ti SUPER. Why: The Ti SUPER is rated for 285W which is 43% more than the standard RTX 4070 (200W) but it is only 17.6% faster. For video editing you won't see any difference but your wallet will thank you as the difference in price is also excessive.
Hey @der8auer could you check the new "ROG RYUJIN III WB" waterblock for materials used and thickness of the coating. Im in the market for one. but knowing ASUS history with waterblock - Im sceptical.
Hey .. thats intel direct die High perf heat spreader in the vid ?
if he edits in davinci and films everything in HVEC H.265, intel is faster than AMD, btw. Puget Systems covered it.
Clicked for the thumbnail.
why you didn’t disabled the integranted graphic card?
There is an errata at minute 8:15 and 9:30 in which you indicate the temperature and power of the iGPU and not the RTX.
This video made me realise i had one of my m.2s in the wrong slot :/ Thanks for that :)

Can you show us the difference in rendering a video with your 2080 vs 4070, 4080, 4090? Thanks.
That PSU is really off, I too run a 7900X (+ RTX4090) on a 750W Platinium. It runs at ~400W during machine learning, the efficiency sweet spot (RTX capped at 65% TDP).
This is why I'm a fan of Roman, any other computer guy would say, yes gimme that $15K and I'll build you something that will warm up the entire house. But not Roman, he'll build you something appropriate for your application.

Can't can go wrong with AMD, i myself run 7900x and 4090. Nice video roman
Here for the kitty... Love me a fur baby
simple air cooling. my gpu and cpu are aio cooled and it makes everything a much longer process
What's your take on going Intel instead for Quicksync? Even Davinci resolve supports that, no? Intel Quicksync enables Hardware encoding/decoding of H.265 footage? I mean, Nvidia can do it too, but not all of it. Like 10bit 4:2:2 and same for 8bit 4:2:2
so you're telling me misha isn't the cat? my disappointment is immeasurable.
