@@TheExileFox in reality they should just have found a more elegant solution than screws that stick out like sore thumbs to begin with. The whole thing looks cheap in all the places where they did their own modifications (like the frame, the choice of cables, the mounting solutions, etc). Looks DIY. This is 2024, stuff like this needs to be flush and neat and work out of the box if you want to compete at a high premium pricetag. 4th screw on display frame is missing because that's where the PCB/USB/HDMI connects are. Could have centered the board and connectors to have a uniform look but why bother? Obviously they thought they would have 4 screws but then realized after that it wasn't possible and too lazy to relocate anything else. The amount of sheer laziness in designing this product is astounding.

The resolution issue on the display is probably because the firmware on the hdmi board is only set up for one resolution, I've seen this with other cheap similar screens from aliexpress etc. To save cost they only bother to set up one resolution that works, and the rest is just neglected. They would have to use more code for it to work properly with other resolutions as well

@@SianaGearz Yes, but some seem to require to have the resolutions hard set in the firmware. Seen this at capture cards and upscalers also, some only accept one very specific resolution it won't work at all much like this. EDID metadata from what I know requires a table of resolutions etc. But I am no expert.

If they had a 5-10mm diffuse plastic spacer between the heat sink and the screen, the LEDs would be visible and you could have that extra space for clearance for the RAM. Also, I think the reason they didn't have the 4th screw for the screen is that it would interfere with the PCB. I kinda doubt they designed the screen themselves, or if so, they did a really poor job of it.

I've had lots of fun making my sensor panel work, too. You need the appropriate scaling on your main monitor as well as the mini one - at least I did. Also, you need to install the fonts that go with the profile you are importing as that helps with lining everything up properly in the theme.

I had a similar issue with screen scaling being off on my Jonsbo d31 case that comes with a temperature sensor screen in 1080p. The fix I found was to adjust the display scaling in windows settings between 100 and 125 pct. Their sensor panel always requires me to use Aida64. Just make sure to keep the setting within Aida64 and your monitor at 1080p or exactly the resolution of that monitor. Just change the windows scaling pct between 100 and 125 pct

Regarding the issues some screens have HDMI connector but they actually use DVI over HDMI and newest GPUs might not like it, had some 720p screen like that work with 2080Ti and it didn't with 3090.

Ended up switching the fans later, only because there was some rattle noise from one of the fans. Seems like this one is rebranded or possibly using the same manufacturer. Edit: Forgot to put that the JF200 is priced between $35 -$65 depending on the shop.

Or get a DeepCool cooler/case with a temp readout. Or even one of those off-brand AIDA64 screen panels, and you'd have enough money left over to get an entire computer case.

Personally I feel like I would rather buy an affordable dual Tower air cooler and a cheap screen and do this myself for a lot less money than this. I would even specifically pick out a case that has a vertical GPU Mount option and mount one that has one extra slot than the provided slots available so that they're then becomes an internal display connector that I can hook the screen into. For $300 the fact that I still have to run a cable outside the computer and the fact that it's literally just a DIY hobbyist project makes no sense to me. Considering that $300 is not exactly chump change I would rather pay for a dedicated screen accessory for existing Tower coolers that is intended to be fully integrated internally into the computer through USB or something like that.

I like RGB and LCD as much as the next guy, but for the love of God these companies need to stop making it the focus over performance and functionality. Literally _NO ONE_ spends their time on the PC gazing into their case going "Ooooooooh...." Not to mention at this price you could literally mount a separate display against the glass of the PC case, have it be far larger, and still have $200 left over. This TikToK "look at me" shit's getting out of hand.

I know this is off topic but I have to ask. My 14900k arrived today, and contact frame that I've ordered, but, the one I got is for 12th gen (I didn't even know there were additional iterations). I installed cpu with stock frame just to make sure everything works, and it does, but now I'm curious, should I install this one or try to find appropriate frame for generation of cpu I've got. Is there really that much of a difference between the two?

lol this is hilarious 😂 also you will have bad ram temps with this cooler blocking almost all chance of airflow going over your dimms. This will also maybe even impact vrm temps blocking air too. I love lcd’s and rgb when done right. I agree the hdmi displays are extremely dated and usually tricky. I would love to find a nice clean usb c only display that’s got its own software or that can run via Aida. Lastly I have been thinking about pre ordering the direct die ekwb aio or either lapping and polishing my 14900k and avoiding the delid. I already lapped my strix aio cold plate from my prior 12900k being lapped. Since my 14900k isn’t lapped yet I’m seeing temps above 90c during rendering workloads. Would lapping drop those enough to matter or should I just delid it ? I have one of your lapping tools btw and it’s been amazing on the ones I’ve done for myself and others. ❤ thanks man you are the goat 🐐 keep it up.

Lamptron does have some unique hardware. Loved their fan controllers and also their hardware display monitor that I bought some years ago is decent. The issue is they're very shady with the software part. First of all, like you, I got the USB Stick and it was corrupted. All of it was corrupted, not only the manual, so not even AIDA worked out of the box. Had to contact them to give me all the software needed. Second: They are using shady software keys for AIDA. The version they gave me (AIDA Business) couldn't be updated officially (serial was invalid when contacting AIDA server to update) and when I contacted AIDA support they told me Lamptron is not using legitimate keys and they cut ties with them a while back. Don't know if they are collaborating again, but I doubt it. Third: Their support is so bad, as they don't speak English very well. Also, they wouldn't give me a legitimate key for AIDA Business. Eventually they gave me a working serial for AIDA Extreme, but I have doubts it's genuine.

The controller board for the monitor is where the fourth screw would go. It has to be there for teh connectors - they didnt forget the screw, its just a poor design and they couldnt be bothered making a special PCB with a screw hole

Since you weren't able to get the instructions to work, is it possible that it was meant to be operated with the two USB interfaces, and the HDMI was just a coincidental feature? I mean maybe the screen wasn't originally designed to be just a CPU cooler display. Does your board have onboard graphics? Maybe, it could be run off of that, so that you aren't giving more work to your main graphics card. One of the USB cables probably adds touchscreen capability. The cooler reminds me of my AK620. With that cooler, you're able to move the fan to the other side, so that it's not above the memory modules at all. It's an interesting idea, but it seems a bit overcomplicated.

the font!! Maybe that's why the background didn't match up with the sensor text... they did include a bunch of fonts on that usb drive... that might help.... but I still think Windows Video scaling might also be part of it.... I only use windows 10 (no thank you win 11) so I'm not sure how the scaling is done, but I would think it's the same and the default at 4K is 150% ... if so change to 100% and see if that solves the add-on screen issue

Did you try to use scaling options in Nvidia control panel and set it to "Fit to screen" Scale on Display and turn off allow programs to change scaling. (This lets you fit 4K into a 1080P Screen so should work)

$300 and it has lazy-ass screws on the top where the display is? They could have easily source flush-mount allen screws and countersunk the holes so it didn't look like a high school project.

Honestly, I think the video needs to be revised and redone. Several of the issues were self inflicted and not fair to bash the cooler for. Ever new cooler I have installed that is like this you need to install all the bits without fully tightening the screws. You then test fit to be sure everything lines up then fully tighten. Black strips do not appear to be LED's but tape to prevent the PCB's from shorting to the cooler. The middle fan mounting appears to be made more difficult than it needs to be. You should most likely be able to slightly flex that bank of fins to make enough room. Also looked like the fan was hitting wiring underneath the heatsink possibly causing the issue and not the cooler. Display issues were probably a case of ignoring keep it simple. Without more information this really looks to be due to the Windows display scaling. Wont correct that this coolers price is terrible and predatory. Its aimed squarely at the inexperienced/uninformed and enthusiasts with more money than sense.

I honestly think an internal USB header would be nice for a product like this. Saw it done on a few AIO's, but ye I think this would be better to just DIY, especially for the price. There's also the fact they give you the manual on a USB... So for those concerned with safety, receiving a USB from a small company you've never heard of is quite alarming. Even if the files aren't corrupt.
