It's sad to see a game like Rocket League get destroyed due to Epic's greed. Leth gave them so many LTM ideas but they simply do not care enough to keep this game above water.

Thats one thing that I really don't understand. Leth gave them so many fun ideas that would increase, or at the very least maintain engagement, yet they haven't done anything about it. With the amount of content and ideas Leth puts out there for RL and its community, they should've hired him a long time ago.

I completely agree. This really is sad because the game is super fun. The devs just arent making the game better at all. Its usually negitive or neutral updates. I want to see a new thing for rl.

well you cant touch the gameplay at all, only for a different game mode and they truly should add those. The game gets stale when you dont get any progress in skill, that is one of the reasons why rizzo is getting bored. Keep getting better and you dont need any "new thing".

They can for sure change mechanics. You look at imo an unkillable game in R6 where every season so much gets added. New op. New map. Etc... I think that something that could definitely be interesting is giving each car its own stats. Kinda like Mario Kart or ops in r6. For example. Octane would be 3 speed since it's a small car but is easier to destroy/bump where as something like Merc will be slower but harder to destroy/bump. It will make for a lot more of a team gave since two mercs on defense dosent really work And two Octanes don't either. That's just an idea. Would love to see them build on that.

I used to be a huge fan of destiny too it was my absolute favorite then a few seasons after forsaken I couldn’t do it anymore it just got worse every update. Same with RL now :(

Played all the way up till the launch of lightfall pushing 1000+ hours a year. Then it fell off, then the lay offs, then the push backs, I don’t know who is copying who, bungie (destiny 2) or epic (Rocket League/Fortnite)

100% agree. It feels like psyonix/epic just don't care at all about the game anymore. Cosmetics are the only thing they care about, because it makes them money. UE5, new game modes, none of this is direct sales, and I feel like that just makes them not want to try with them. Yes, players would maybe come back to play the game if they did these things, but it would be short lived, and wouldn't guarantee that people buy stuff.

I absolutely 100% guarantee you if Rocket League got an update it would be cool for maybe two weeks, and then everyone would go back to normal ranked gameplay. Because that’s what everyone loves about Rocket league. Just happens to also be what everyone hates.

I don't mind Rocket Racing, the problem I have with it, is that it _isn't _*_IN_*_ Rocket League_ ..Some new mode like that needs to be in RL itself, not some other game.

It'd be really neat to see an actual racing mode within rocket league, maybe with sub-gamemodes like parkour or team racing. I feel like that would breathe SO much life into the game and allow for other forms of gameplay that isn't just "hit ball, hit ball, hit ball" over and over because the game can be so much more than that

@@Bambeakz I absolutely agree. This was my first thought after Rocket Racing was announced. But it don't have to be a bad thing. If I were Epic I would have taken the same steps. Integrate a new game in an existing, technically advanced and profitable ecosystem and lay down the foundations to integrate the old one aswell. I mean, it is all there...UE5, car physics, creator mode. What if all the things Rocket League players have asked for will become true but under the Fortnite Francise? Would be fine for me...

What frustrates me is that Epic knows how to make a f2p game popular and lucrative, and keep it interesting so people want to come back. Plus, RL has huge potential as a an esport. It’s easy for a casual viewer to understand “both teams are trying to hit the ball into the goal.” But nobody involved seems to give a shit about trying. And yeah, Rocket Racing is too basic.

You should just do variety games with other personalities from the RL community fr. I would love to see you CJ and Johnny play scary games or just other stuff in general. We like you for being you, not for playing rocket league. But this break is important, you should treat yourself first.

It's stale, but the skill ceiling is so high, I'm still improving as a player. As long as I have something new to learn and practice I'll enjoy this game. For me nothing beats a Freeplay session to wind down at night

I love rocket league. I invest a lot of time in watching videos and playing. I started playing mid 2020 and got deep into it last year. I enjoy playing other games as well though but I mostly play this game. Its helped me through bad times and its been there through great times as well. One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of people (like most games) get too emotional invested and care too much about their rank. The ranking system is broken anyway and thats why i dont care about ranks but thats a whole different discussion. Me personally my self fulfillment and what i enjoy most is just driving around hitting the ball. Just flowing and being able to do some new stuff you hadnt been able to do but youre teaching yourself. The process of improvement is what i most enjoy sbout this game. Its just a video game but its them long nights in freeplay and training packs have taught me things about the game but more importantly about myself and life in general as im continuing to learn snd grow. Its been an experience I appreciate it all. Rocket league isnt s game for everyone but its a game for me and ill continue to play it until this joy and love and passion for the game is gone. Thankfully thats not right now and hopefully it wont be ever.

Ive been hopeful for this game but i agree about the wall. Even recently I've come across nexto in game again in ranked 1s, a real shock as I thought for sure the game was getting better but now it feels like a step back.

The ONLY thing holding me to Rocket League these days is RLCS. The game is clearly going downhill and its clearly on Epic's decisions. And then they announced 13 year olds can play in RLCS now? Just sad to see my favorite game of all time getting worse and worse.

I agree with all of this. I've never been good at the game but I used to love it. A few of my friends actually stopped playing completely when the trade stopped and with no new updates of consequence. I just don't enjoy playing by myself and since my friends stopped playing, I just don't want to play anymore. It is very sad at this point honestly.

100% I want a custom game browser for workshop maps for both PC and console players. Or heck, talk to Leth and work something out where a couple of his rings maps can be incorporated into the game and have speedrun tournaments where you can compete for prizes. Can't even get a new extras mode, a new dropshop map or a new rumble item. The last update (outside of taking away trading and removing competitive dropshot) had a few nice quality of life updates, but no real new content. It really freaking blows

10:10 - I used to comment and try to get their terrible changes removed, or at least voice my opinion. But lately I've also just given up. Since dropshot was removed, I've barely touched the game. The only thing I really enjoy about rocket league now, is putting on some youtube videos in the background and freestyling in freeplay. Sad to see such a unique game mistreated, by a terrible company.

My friend and I were just talking about this last night, how even just simply adding a rematch button into the game would be such an improvement. Everyone’s had those games where you lose, but you feel like you and your teammate were just starting to work together and figure out how to beat your opponent. With a rematch feature, You and everyone in the lobby would have to unanimously agree to the rematch, but doing so would begin a best 2 out of 3 style rematch that you would lock into. Pipe dream for a dying game, but would really make competition more fun.

As someone who works in a similar industry, when people talk about devs in this area, just be aware, devs don't decide shit about what they're working on. It's not their fault, they execute the direction given from those above them.

Honestly want to see more trackmania content. I also got into it about the same time you played with wirtual and it was super fun to see you playing

According to Wikipedia, there are 132 (2019) employees at Psyonix. I am not sure if RL has more or less employees at Epic, but I do know that those 132 since 2019 have done basically nothing. Adding some gamemodes, shop items, rocket pass, and maps, to me, does not count as updates. Every game has those things I previously mentioned, on top of consistently updating the game and trying new things. I am sick of only playing ranked. We need something new or this game is done for and it MUST happen now.

I gave my inventory away and deleted the game when trading was removed (ofc my inventory was given away first) trading wasn’t big for me but the fact they thought it was a good idea is really stupid and out of touch. I don’t care what happens to rocket league anymore nor do I have any interest in the game anymore just because they are so out of touch. I still watch the creators I love because of their personality generally being entertaining. One person I ofc still enjoy is who I’m here watching rizzo the man himself, the beast, the legend, the king and of course future rlcs champion!

This was my favorite game for years. I quit a while ago but have spent so.many countless hours. I loved the beginning of RL.

I mean there was a post from a developer saying that basically the entire RL team was cut, i think they dropped from like 5 devs to 1 or 2. That's why we no longer get the newsletters with what's coming up and why there was no preview for the new season rocket pass and stuff, they also got rid of the entire marketing and PR team. Rocket League imo is slowly being phased out, enjoy it while you still can.

Rizzo put into words what we all feel. I myself have stepped away from Rocket League and have been enjoying other games like cs2, phasmo, lethal company, etc. Rocket League will always be there and I hope they will get the big UE5 update. But in the state the game is in now, I'm just burnt out and don't get any enjoyment out of the game anymore. Thanks Rizzo, keep up the good content as always.

Bro I feel u so bad ! To me, Rocket league is my core game. I love it, and i want to play it as long as possible. But the fact is that not only they're not adding anything new to the game, they're removing stuff more and more. No more trading (which doesn't affect me but still), no more dropshot, ... In addition to that, they don't know how to create a hype around the game. Even RLCS are downscaling in audience and the result of that is that there is no new players on the game.. The only "new" accounts are like V2, V3, V4... V6 of already existing account. The game already had problems with smurfs, they definitly not doing anything to improve that aspect and i feel that more and more each time i play the game. I'm a competitive player and my goal is of course to improve myself but it feels more and more frustrating to play every day. Im at a point where i dont wanna launch the game anymore and i think this is sad because this is a crazy game like none other that could be even crazier if they were doing just a little something for the community. But they prefer to let the game die slowly i guess.. *Sad & disapointed*

I agree. I love rocket league. Almost everyday when I get home from work I jump into free play for a bit to relax. The lack of updates has made it so boring that I am only ranked in Snowday this season. SNOWDAY! I have become so bored with the game I loved that I'm playing one of the modes I hated just for something different.

I don’t know if it’s paranoia but like two seasons ago I started having constant connection issues and lag in the menus for customization. The menus bothered me since I have one preset that I change before each match, and it started taking me 5-10 secs to just switch one menu and for it to load. Just stopped playing before they dropped trading. Loved the game since 2016, 2021 got stale

Same, I get lag in game and I don't know why?? My wifi is fine for literally any other game, and I'm queued for my region, but the lag just makes it so irritating to play that I've just kind of given up on trying to fix it

i thought rocket racing was literally that. a racing mode in rocket league. Our car mechanics but on racing maps. have casual+comp, have rumble etc. Just X amount of ppl per race, bumping, wave dashing, using ceilings/walls, jumps, have boost pads etc

I loved my time in Rocket League -- after 1500 hours since 2015, how could I not? But since the announcement of the removal of trading, I took an indefinite break. It's like you said, trading being removed didn't directly impact me. But I think that was the change that made me realize that Rocket League was no longer immune to being entirely shelled out for some easy cash.

I have almost 5k hours in rocket league over the last eight years or so. Nowadays I can’t even play more than two games without getting bored. I had fun playing dropshot, and then they removed it lmao

I’ve had a drastic amount of lag touches and lagging through peoples cars this season too, much more than previous seasons.

Here's a thing: they still have drop-shot tournaments, but you cannot play the mode. Think about it for a second: they have a tournament for a mode you cannot play. This will happen to snowday next season (SD used to be my 'main' mode). I have followed you for years. I've played for years. #39 in wins and all that (via brute force haha!) I thought Rocket Racing was going to be in RL and was excited for it. I run rocket park map by Rax, and there's a timed track there, and I was grinding down my lap times & was super excited for RR to be in RL, but... nope. I like FN and all, but I play FN for FN, not for RL, ya know? With the smurfs/carry-parties, the end of trading, a new RL mode that's not in RL... no word on next rlcs season... just kinda gettin' done with this game, ya know? Feel like they're only tryin' to sell us skins at this point

I really do hope that Rocket League does something. In my opinion, the standardization of fields has been a detriment for what the devs do with the game. There's so much potential for interesting maps with different shapes and interesting aspects to them that just feels untapped. A creative mode could definitely help with that, but I think the base game just has to change a lot as well. No other game that I've played is so good at creating those unpredictable unique real-time events that mimic real sports than Rocket League and newer content to the base ranked game would be great to change the pace up even more. Other than that, thanks for everything you do man, enjoy your break. ♥

RL is such a great idea for a game, and it’s just being killed by Epic. Hopefully we’ll get something fun since they finished rocket racing.

Why does no one bring up that you can’t just add all this cool stuff to the game at once especially for a company like epic games. It’s a BIGGER PICTURE that no one mentions. At the end of the day, they are a business and rocket league is a product. They do things step by step. Exposure to rocket league through fortnite was and is extremely smart. Racing is something anyone can pick up and understand and be “good” quickly. It might get people to try actual RL. They need more people playing rocket league for more sales. FREE GAME=Micro Transactions. I understand that it’s a game and the community has their opinions about things but they need to make money or at the end of the day, they’ll shut down rocket league or stop caring about updating it.

I was so hoping that Rocket would develop like other games, adding new elements, new mechanics, and new player creative modes. But rocket league has gotten stale and I’ve been in the search for a new game for a while. Anyways, love you Rizzo and hope you keep making videos.

Rocket league started making me mad when they made it so you could buy painted items straight from the shop… grinded my way through trading and it all basically got shit on. Now it really got shit on cause you can’t trade at all. Not to mention the servers lag so bad. Now you can’t trade and you can’t play because of no trading and lag.

That’s Fortnite racing. If you are required to open the Fortnite game to play something. It is Fortnite.

Its really sad to see my favorite game of all time get destroyed like this. I hated when they took away trading even though I was never a trader. I knew it would affect the game negatively. Even for me, when I say someone with something that is rare/expensive like white zombas it was really cool to see. There was a whole community around it and they just destroyed it overnight. Epic made decisions about the game without understanding the community around the game.

The rocket lab maps were great, but unfortunately no one played those. I had a blast on them.

What upsets me the most is that there are no items that transfered over I got the "octain". Then they come out with a 40.00 cross game car. Like come on.

Nice to hear your views of RL. Sorry for the rant ahead. Some additions I'd like to see is additional maps of drop shot and hoops. Hoops has had 1. I think it's sad to not upgrade the game. Do you think they'll upgrade to RE5? Just curious. I've been watching you since 2018 with Sandman. I'm kinda like you and just not motivated to get excited about RL and being sold items all the time. Granted it may be a game for 7 year olds. But 7 year olds don't have the money to buy the products they're trying to sell. It doesn't make any sense. I too got into trading years ago for a bit. But was done when they went to epic and went away from keys. Even more stupid is the money that has been invested in is now useless. Except for the one game you can use it in. And they keep on ruining it. It's like putting money into a bad investment to expect a return. It's not a good business strategy. Now it's free to play?!? Ok. Now I think RL should give me my money back for my investment of the game. Seriously. Obviously there are some serious frustrations. And for good reason. Why do they think they can treat their player "investor" base like a cash cow? Usually there's some reciprocal thought when someone invests in your product and you keep creating new things, levels, items, genres, worlds, etc. Ok, enough of that. Things are said. One cool thing to have whatever item you want is to have Bakkesmod. Granted you can't show it off, unless you're streaming. Maybe they'll eliminate that one day too. Who knows. I can see rocket racing within rocket league looking like the game Burnout from eons ago.

I knew i would start getting good at the game too late. Havent been playing long. On the cusp of hitting and staying diamond, i still suck. But since ive started playing, ive always felt like the game would fall off before i reach a certain point. I wish i could say that i have had more fun than not playing this game during that time. Even reasons not in rizzos video. Ranked is 100% percent broken. They dont seem concerned about fixing this. Hell youd think they would hear our concerns about it and maybe not reset so hard this next season. But no, they wont. Watch.

Hey Rizzo, I am going to miss your RL videos. You’re a great creator, and I hope this break goes well. A lot of us feel very similar to how you feel. Devs can kiss my ass.

I think they will add rocket league into the Fortnite tabs, like rocket racing, lego fortnite, etc. and that will be RL making iit into UE5 and I think that will erase the Rocket League game/app that we have now. Then I predict they will bring trading back, once its all technically inside of the same game. I think they disabled it so they could port over everything into fortnite for when they add in Rocket League. Thats just a guess from what I've seen Fortnite doing, trying to become a full console itself

They have mutators, they can literally play a bit with map size, and ball speed to make a map a little bigger and add like a 4v4, maybe even 5v5. It's not much but it is refreshing. Imagine having a map that is 1.5x bigger and the ball bounces and has more speed as well as the cars, the core gameplay would be the same but how you play it would be different

Exactly they already have a chaos mode that nobody played because the map is too small and not enough boost. Just make a slight change bigger map with more boost and boom different game mode

This is totally fair and reasonable I couldn’t agree more. I still like playing the game sometimes. But youre 100% right there’s no reason to keep playing the game or keep interested in the scene when there is 0 new content due to make Fortnite better

I stopped playing rocket league like two or three years ago. I still watch videos of competitive play sometime (salt mine has been great), and I vaguely follow the subreddit for updates, but I don't play. What I've noticed? There are no updates. Not really. There are new cars, new skins, new seasons... but there's never anything that makes me think "man I should go back to rocket league and play again sometime". Nothing even close.

everyone keeps saying creative mode in Rocket League but no one has any ideas for what that might look like. idk tbh whenever i thought ab rl creative i just figured people would make racing maps. or just better workshop ig

I really hope that an upgrade to UE5 is coming to Rocket League so everyone on every platform can jump into creative mode and make something new. In the meantime, how hard would it be for them to make a rocket labs playlist with all of the non-standard maps? We all sucked 7 years ago, and I wanna see what decent gameplay on maps like the original Utopia looks like. They're all still in the game, just make them public so we can queue into them with randoms. It would also be nice if they put a skin on them so they're not just boxes floating in the void. XD

They removed "Solo Standard" they should of added a "Solo Duo" and they removed "Dropshot" but kept "Snowday". I don't know what the devs are thinking

Rocket League in Unreal 5 would need SIGNIFICANT replication changes from the RL in UE3 to make it slightly, yet barely as playable as the one that has been optimized for over a decade of people committed to making it work the way it does... I don't think the issue lies in the hands of the developer per say; the availability of the prediction/replication scripting for physics based objects in Unreal Engine 5 is the issue... It is definitely possible to make it happen, eventually. However the hours of manpower and the willingness/aptitude of those involved are the most critical hurdle to overcome. Take it from a 30 y.o. who spent over 2000 hours of their personal time this year trying to make it a reality. I feel with Epic games attempting to fund improvements to the game (i.e: Rocket Pass/Shop Items), along with the inflated amount of money that is generated externally within the Rocket League Esport (I love RLCS but like c'mon guys that's a lot of battle passes...), production/event costs, prizing, etc. There is NO WAY they are not in a financial deficit with Rocket League as a whole. Creative mode, regardless the timing will be beneficial for the game since Epic won't be paying their employees to be making content with their game; the players will be/have already done that for them (sorry Leth..). They have not painted themselves a great image with their lack of communication surrounding a road map or anything along those lines; but you can't blame them, seeing as they'd be reworking old technology while making 0 profit... I feel as though the community itself will decide the fate of the game; you can have fun and play a great game with your friends that has decades of reworks, testing and history behind it; or choose to protest/leave it behind. I can empathize for a content creator whose livelihood solely depends on a particular game that has no hope in hell of ever changing, or fixing bullsh*t 50's. There is no other instance in life where saying "What a Save!" tilts you to the level this game does... There really is nothing comparable to Rocket League and I don't think there ever will be. I got 2 fortnite ads during this video smh. I def relate to where you're coming from, it feels like we've been waiting forever for *anything* at this point to a point where it's just getting depressing. I'm really hoping UE5 or something else to change up the game is coming out soon, but my hopes are lower than ever after this whole trading/rocket racing thing.

It is obvious that they cannot do much with RL because of the old engine. Racing exists because it was made with UE5. The problem is that there is no communication about they actually working in upgrading the game to UE5. The UE5 upgrade still is just a rumor based on a single comment. Also, with the layoffs, we don't know Epic's focus in upgrading the game.

I mean maybe add a racing mode inside rocket league???

don't know if you covered it in your trading video but any items that transfer between rocket league and fortnite cannot be traded up. so for example painted octanes can never be traded up to exotics.

My biggest worry of the current state of RL is that if the community actually stops supporting Psyonix, Epic would just shut it down. I don’t think we’re going to see a major exit of the community but I think the slow decline in players has started and will probably continue. It just feels like I’m trying to save a dead marriage lmao

I got pissed, tossed a controller a few months back and I was working alot. Made Champ in 2's and 3's only solo q'ing this game. I heard the otherday that they removed Dropshot and snowday to every other week. Sucks. Drop shot was a good get away from 2's and 3's and go practice aerials and boost management while also playing a hole new game mode. :(

Ive said this from like 2019. Why would the devs not work on server based world. Think need for speed. With level based worlds u can only access if your a certain rank. Q times throw you in the world then teleport to the stadium. There could be like stream watches in the world. Drive your car down salty shores to reach the aquadome i mean im not asking for a gta size map but training in one arena alone is stupid make a world where you could drive around make the ceiling higher and put ramps everywhere on buildings like leths rings and dribble challenges all over the world is it so hard cuz it just makes to much sense to me

I stopped playing the game a few months ago because it is apparent that the devs prefer monetary gain over making changes that are better for the community. Epic games really is turning Rocket League into something that seems too greedy. Also, I feel that now the game is full of immature children and the community feels so much more different (in a bad way) from what it was before it went free to play. It is a fun game, but the community mixed with greedy devs really makes me not want to touch the game.

They made damn sure trading was removed, and they said that we could trade in dups…. yet I have several duplicate items that don’t appear to be able to be traded in. That confuses me.

I'm a new creator that's only played RL for 2 years. I'm just now getting to the point of SOME skill in C3 aiming for that GC, and this happens. I'm grieving for this game.... Idgaf about trading but it's obvious that Epic doesn't give a fuck. In fact it seems they're actively telling us to f*** ourselves. they give us UI changes people asked for 8 years now, but in return they REMOVED a game mode. But it's not gone, just in rotation, in casual playlists sometime... but they have to keep their competitive screen nice and neat, so we can't have 8 game modes in comp.
