@Daniel black people don't only feel oppressed. We feel joy, pride, thankfulness, and peace as well like any other group of people. However, when you look at 400 years of human trafficking, sharecropping, lynching, numerous Jim Crow laws, and police brutality, oppression is a major influence on our historical narratives in this country. Not sure you can truly understand this unless you're black.

People who make false calls to the cops should be charged, fined $1000 and the money goes to the victim. Knowing that would happen would shut down those Karens and Darrens quickly.

What you guys don't understand is that there *is* a charge against false police calls. Every single country in the world has this to discourage constant false calls to police. Depending on the situation and country, it's either a hefty fine, or can sometimes even end in some jail time. The problem is, just like the police can sometimes choose to not give you a speeding ticket and let you off with a verbal warning, so too can they choose to disregard the fact you knowingly made a false call to the police, therefore letting you go without any consequences at all. That's what's happening with these white people. It's not that there's no punishment. It's just that the punishment isn't ever applied to them.

The clip where the kid is asking his dad to stop and let's just go, reminded me of another thing I had seen where this white lady (on Halloween) goes up to a place with her daughter (maybe 5, at most) and dumps the entire bowl of candy (which was left out, as some people do) in her purse. The little girl is like "no mommy, you take too much, that's bad" and that lady doesn't even flinch, and they walk off. People like that (both the woman and that man) shouldn't even HAVE children.

  • @Julia-lk8jn

Yes-No. The way I see it: Clearly, it's possible for dreadful creatures like that to have children which are better than they are *and* are even strong enough to stand up to their parents. Which is bordering on the heroic - you can't really condemn the parents without applauding the children. And it's a hopeful thing to see.

Rittenhouse judge is beyond this. This man let the gun that murdered 2 people be called "legal" in spite of Wisconsin Gun Law that makes it illegal for anyone under 18 to carry a gun. He used a hunting regulation that he knew intended to make it legal for a 17 yr olds to carry a hunting rifle (not an assault rifle). This is a racist judge willing to go against the intent if the law to let another racist off the hook

Agreed! Just today I read a news article, our local PD had fired a guy for brutality, beating a six month pregnant woman. Dragged her out of her car by her hair punched her like 7 times in the head then left her to sit on the ground in the rain, all while handcuffed. So ex-cop (should be in prison cop) just went down the street, like 15 miles away to a smaller town and got hired AND knowing all this that PD came out and said this person was a great asset to their force...and there's our problem. Bad cops get quietly let go and then they just get hired somewhere else and now along with being violent to begin with, they got a chip on their shoulder too. They move on and just get more anger and violent.

That judge was very obviously bias in favor of Rittenhouse. He was basically working as his lawyer calling objections etc. I felt bad for the victims families. The judge wouldn't allow their children who were murdered to be called victims and then the judge drops the one charge Kyle would of most likely got a guilty on, the gun charge. Obviously he was guilty. You cant plead self defense in a situation you caused the need for self defense in.

Back in social work school a few black colleagues also talked about how there was an expectation for black people and other ethnicities to forgive and to be willing to move forward. This point struck me real hard because it rings true, and on the flip side that expectation is not inherent for white people. If any person of color were to press charges and try to see a case go all the way, they're almost always automatically labeled the "Angry (insert ethnicity) Man/Woman" and they're being unreasonable. But if a white person tries to see a case go all the way through, it's just another Tuesday for them. So yeah these types of double standards are real and the conditioning to preserve white comfort is real, which also factored into Christopher Cooper's decision to drop the charges. When I read about that it just hurts the cause of seeking equity in the justice system for everyone

I appreciate what you guys do, both on the show and pod cast. I need the laughter to digest these things. So I'm a 50 year old white female raised in MS. When I was in high school, I believed all these things would be different by the time I was 50. When Obama was elected, and I was a proud supporter much to the chagrin of my family and many in our community, I was so proud and so happy because my generation really made it happen finally. And then, just like Dulce said, these horrific white folks and horrific behavior ensued immediately. I was shocked and saddened and heartbroken and knew we were in for a backlash rising up from an evil that I thought we had at least subdued. And then, dear sweet Jesus, there was Trump and horrors I could never have imagined and all my hope and pride in what our generation was and is disappeared. Thanks for listening and keeping me in the loop. I do live in the woods with no TV at this moment.

People in the US need to understand that violence is driven more by Kens/ Kyles than Karens. Remember the strict adherence to manipulated versions of religion has led Karens to adopt the ways of the males in their family. They uphold male supremacy as part of 'obedience to husbands'. That being said Boymom Karens are usually the worse ones. They usually protect the little dcks in their family in order to indirectly benefit from male privilege. They go against other women and the me-too movement and they disregard their son's toxic behaviours as 'just boys being boys". Let the issue of Karens not distract the US from understanding that Ken / Kyle supremacy (male supremacy) is the primary reason of violence in the US, and the rest of the world as well. Citizens need to heck the rate of male violence in both the US and the rest of the world to understand better.

It blew my mind when I heard the part about the person in the podcast thinking racism ended in the 70s. I was born in the 70s. I grew up around racist white people. I still know racist white people. I had a cop come into a store I was managing in the 90s, asking if a young black man came into the store. I said no, and he said he was going to go and see what he was up to. I said, he's probably driving around, seeing what's near Kent State. He's probably a student there. The cop said, well, he's in the wrong neighborhood. I'm going to check it out. One of many examples of racism I've personally witnessed I can't imagine any white person who hasn't, especially white men.

My boy said that full well knowing that he was threatening my life. This isn't some "Black people are racist too", as much as it's a "anyone can participate in whiteness and benefit from it". I think that's how we end up with these Candace Owens types of Black people who have committed to assimilating into white society and who disparage their own Blackness and their community. I am French and my family "background" is very diverse. I grew up without any preconceptions about colors, beliefs, etc... I am surprised ( not anymore but still regularly it hits me) by how the segregation in the US is so little mentioned, people talk about slavery but segregation is only mentioned when "black American history" is mentioned. I remind myself how people my age have grandparents who had to deal with segregation in their every day life. Some American white people my age don't seem to be aware of that. I share the same feeling as Dulce about the facts we are now more aware of, in comparison with the idea that those facts are new. I believe not much is different except that now, we hear more about it. The first time I came to the US to live there, it was in NEw Orléans, and we lived in a middle class neighborhood with a majority of white people, I can totally say they were mostly " kind, generous, christians, in financial unsecured situations, and mildly racists", the sort of racism that says " even my black friend says this". I attributed this sort of racism to cultural and historical background as well as a constant insecurity in general. I was lucky to be surrounded by an international minded community (with work etc), or it would have been suffocating intellectually. I also used to ride the ferry to cross the Mississippi, and I discovered another kind of racism I had never witnessed before (except in Congo where I had lived shortly before too) which was black people targeting me on the ferry, it could have felt threatening, and I believe it was the point (younger people than me - I was 28, trying to use the fact that I was the only white on board to assert themselves). I didn't feel threatened because I was not culturally brought up to be scared by differences, but it was an experience that opened my eyes about fear, and how people interact

In answer to the question "Does talking about Karen's help or hurt?", I think it definitely helps spread the word. Josh mentioned that "for people who have led sheltered lives, it may draw attention to this issue." I absolutely agree! I read a study (I don't remember who did it or when) in which they asked white people to name their 6 or 7 best friends. Very few had ANY friends of different races, colors or religions. Many "Muricans live in their bubble and don't care to venture out...after all, who needs to venture out of the most superior group? Polls also show that many people in the US don't believe racism still exists. They must be very isolated, so inform them over and over again. The thing I like about Trevor is that he is a black man from elsewhere, so when he talks about race issues in the US, I think white folks freak out less and listen more. The three of you are calm and rational, too, so you hopefully won't 'scare off' ignorant white people. Please keep it up. The US needs this type of conversation.

Huh? What? Please give more details where this happened? Victoria's Secret better have come out publicly to apologize. If not, a national boycott is well in order. We got to nip this insanity in the bud (even though the bud has fully bloomed and the busy bee Karens are all over)

Really cool observations, as usual. Never thought about what Josh mentioned re: the fear of people getting caught in their Karen moments and realizing how badly this might go for them and how that might lead to some positive change.

I see why some people bemoan a loss of privilege. I've found the interviews Jordan Klepper does at the rallies very revealing. Those people don't seem to realize how hypocritical they are. I have had a life of privilege. I've known that, and tried throughout my career to be egalitarian- but I never understood (probably still don't understand it properly) that racism in America isn't attitudes, but is baked into every institution, and the very creation of the country. My "shock" moment that made me start really thinking about all of this, and my own part in it, came before COVID & George Floyd. I work with a white woman whose husband is a black man. She came in to work one day, upset because they were down to one car and she'd forgotten to fix the headlight on her car... She was very worried all day. I didn't understand. She said, as if it was obvious... "It's fine for *me* if there's a headlight out. But it's dangerous for my husband, and my son. They usually don't drive my car... " It hadn't been real to me. Her husband is a preacher, handsome... He plays the drums and makes his kids laugh. And gets pulled over by the police because he's black. This violence has to stop. The idea of that woman deliberately trying to cause a confrontation make me ill. I don't like every person I meet of any race- but they are people, and have people who love them. I'm sure many of them don't like me. Manners are intended to be the grease of society for that reason!

As far as the cops go, I once called the cops while living in El Paso for a group of guys trying to break into my apartment at like 2am. Long story short they took the call but never showed up; 30 to 40 min later they called back to ask me if I still needed an officer. Ever since that day I realized that system wasn't set up to serve me and I couldn't count on them. I now have a gun in my home that I hope I never have to use.

The in-depth conversations, the dad/son moment- I did not see until now… as a parent that was painful to see, it literally made me tear up, to hear a child PLEAD with his dad to not be racist, to not be cruel, to PLEASE STOP… and be ignored! jFC. I have to believe there is hope, and I will act every time to be as Anti karen as a karen wanna be. I love you all! ♥️🤟🏼

This breaks my heart, that this issue is still an issue. My first memory of white people treating black kids differently than white kids was when I was 5 years old! And now I’m 72 and I swear that it’s worse! How much diversity training do these people need?

I'm a proud black Karen. I was christmas shopping, and was in the bathroom at the mall. A couple of young white girls came in the bathroom laughing and joking about how much they stole. One of the white teen girls says, "Just imagine if we were black!!!" They knew they can keep stealing, because security was watching people like me and my daughter's. I must have acted like Madea, because they ran out sooo fast when they realized RBK(the real black Karen)was in there with them.

@Daniel Man, your mind never made it from the basement did it.... First the statistics you speaking on is a meme... you get that right... that very meme was shown to be false directly from the source they quoted. It's funny because you want to say this meme is real but same site has a meme that shows Trump was related to Jesus and MLK but I don't yall running saying Trump part black. This shows alot of you base your lives on fiction because you believe as long as you say it, it will become true. Talk about entitlement and derangement.

  • @TheDarkOneAOX1

@Daniel Man you posted nothing besides a statement and said you posted source data. Wth is broke in your mind, because simple and plain a source is something like the FBI statistics which would again make you wrong because those are arrest not convictions. If you go to the DOJ data, that does not cover any of the exonerated which offsets those numbers again. Which you stated neither of those, so unless your so ignorant that you don't truly know what a meme is, than it would see that you trolling and getting debunked. But got the nerve to call someone a troll. lOl

  • @TheDarkOneAOX1

    @TheDarkOneAOX1

@Daniel And thus you fail. So first smack to the face is: Right on the FBI website it states that those are ARREST, not convictions which means anyone can just be arrested for it but convicted means they were found guilty. You know kind of like Kyle, and we all know how you feel towards his guilt or innocence. 2 slap to the face again, the statistics is flawed, because it goes by a rule less self reporting police policy which has been seen to be full of flaws and discrepancies such as Baltimore manipulating the number along side a gaggle of other police agencies. You know these police departments the US government even under Trump that were ruled as troublesome, ruleless, lawless, even criminal police departments. Kind of like LASD you know the Banditos, Executioners, 300 Boys, Vikings and many more. And just with LASD that would throw out all of theirs because the datas is known to be falsified. So again smooth brain what are you speaking on? #NowWhatWeLearn
