We need to normalize being disliked.

I'm here to change your brain and help you find true self esteem that is not based on being liked all the time. Our need to be liked, our fear of rejection, that constant feeling of social anxiety no matter where you go or who you're interacting with... it's getting way out of hand! We need to normalize being disliked.
Our brains are wired for human connection so that we can SURVIVE. But if that drive to connect and be liked is left unchecked it can cause serious psychological havoc. You become a people pleaser, you become a chameleon who's constantly changing in order to "fit in" and be likable in whatever setting you're in. You get social anxiety. You become depressed. No one knows who you are and worst of all, YOU don't even know who you are.
These are serious psychological implications when not being able to "cope" with being disliked. Let's re-wire that brain's understanding and get clear on how appropriate and normal it is to be disliked at times.

A "part 2" of this video will definitely be on it's way! I've already thought of so many other aspects of this issue that *must* be discussed. 💪

Gen, I am a lot older than you, I’m almost 50, but I just wanted to tell you who you look and remind me of and it should be a compliment. You remind me of Erin Grey, she used to be on a show called “Buck Rogers In The 25th Century” in the 1980’s. She played Wilma on the show. She was a very pretty lady too, just like you. Both of you are always very kind and mature. Look her up and then you will see your look alike. 😀

We need to normalize not being too concerned with people's opinions, what they think etc. Especially considering most people are mentally asleep or behave badly to say the least.

It used to bother me when someone disliked me but then I decided that I wasn't going to let it bother me anymore. The people that matter are always around no matter what time of day. I am now more at peace for not letting it bother me. Loved your video thank you xxx

I grew up feeling disliked, I was always the wierd one in class, always wore mostly black and just never fit in with stereotypical groups. As I got older and started working it was still the same but by then I was ok with my individuality and thought if no one else likes me at least I love myself, so I'm fine with that : )

I like everyone until they give me a reason not to. The only time I ban someone from my life is when I feel they have an unhealthy or negative influence. I like you. You have good sense.

Hey Genevieve that's one thing I hate in life is when people dislikes you especially for no reason and especially when people dislikes you and they don't even know you from hole in the wall. Thank God in my life I'm fairly well loved by most people. But this is what they say we were not made to be a pot of gold for people to like us and we will not made to be a dollar bill for people to want us but the ones who dislikes us we could just rebuke them ignore them and put them in the rear view of our mirror. Genevieve I'm sure you're well liked by a lot of people especially with the interesting videos you put out I love your videos. I'm always following your videos.

loved this video! It has taken years to understand i don't have to please everyone, or change myself to be acceptable to anyone. You spoke these truths so perfectly. wish i had understood all this years ago; i would have avoided so much anxiety and heartache. I love Brene' Brown also; my daughter introduced me to her books. Keep up the good work you do. You're an empath; it shows.. Wish everyone was

I like you. You look extra pretty in this video, probably because you're speaking truth. I dealt with this when I was younger, but I haven't GAF what people think in years. It was so bad that I would think people were talking about me, now I know that I'm not that important. We had a girl in school who used to think that and she did kill herself. Thanks for this.

Incognito right now, but wanted to let you know that I decided to quit my job. I discovered that every person there didn’t like me, even my supposed good friend coworker. I’m going to leave that all in the past tho. I honestly am at the point where I don’t care. I will find a place to work where they’ll appreciate me and my hard work. 😁

I like the way you think. Glad you transform into an extrovert on your videos and shine. I think often about being judged, liked, disliked, etc and what it is worth. Even though I'm fairly self-confident, I sometimes wonder about what opportunities may have passed me by, without me even being aware, because someone has quickly judged me and said "pass"...their huge loss, but also, over time, a big signal to me that I'm swimming in the wrong pond and need to find another. You know, just that realization that hmmm...nothing great is happening for me here, I wonder why? Also, different context, this makes me think about retail sales. Initially, I always wanted to win every customer over with some charm or wit or likability, and would feel failure if every customer didn't leave happy. This gives every customer huge power over you! Lately I am often "meh", it is what it is, some customers are just a-holes, have enjoyed shrugging off hysterical requests, and even glad to see them leave the store. It is liberating and healthy. Lots of parallels...can't make everyone happy every time, can't make everyone like you all the time. We all should just keep shopping around until we find our favorite stores and salespeople, and ignore the rest?

I needed this! my in laws and husband are uncomfortable with my emotional honesty and how I share so vulnerably. it is tough to be judged and rejected because of this innate trait. any guidance on how to cope with a spouse who is triggered by my personality? It has taken me some time to accept that I am who I am and accept that others might not like me but this is who I am! it really does help when I accepted myself and stopped hiding myself and being timid. I am finding my “family” now as a 37 year old woman and it is freeing. I had to grieve the relationships that didn’t accept me and that had helped as well.
