As I was watching I thought “this feels like a noclip doco”, then in the credits I saw it was. Awesome work fellas!

When I saw your names in the credits I was not surprised at all. Like yeah, who else would be competent enough and convince Valve to do this?

The style of the documentary already whispers to me, "Huh, this looks like something noclip would do." Surprise surprise, it's actually them, although under different production house.

I didn't realise it was them, but I was thinking how much It seemed like a noclip doc the whole time

I heard a documentary was released and went straight to NoClip to look for it. Eventually I found it on the Valve channel. The whole production oozed their style. Great job!

The words I was desperately fumbling for to describe Typecast in this pod were "arcade game", not run-based non-roguelike lol

@@jeremybjayne Sorry, it was top of mind since I just finished listening to his podcast and saw you post "pod" here. It felt serendipitous and I was feeling coy, insinuating you were somehow untrustworthy. Please assume my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek.

@@soviut303 ironically, "top of mind" is the phrase I most equate with untrustworthiness (due to its origins in marketing-speak), so I guess we're even lol no worries man, it's all good

@@jeremybjayne Hah, I was originally wanting to use the phrase "at the forefront" but couldn't recall it (I guess it wasn't top of mind!). And to clarify, Jeff's assertion came from emails he receives from AI companies saying "Hey, I listened to your pod, we can use AI to generate blog posts from it for you"; he's not out to get you.

Re. Games that inspired me to seek out new experiences: After sitting on the fence about visiting Hong Kong for years, I was finally inspired to go after playing Sleeping Dogs. While I knew the game didn't represent the real city in a deep way, its atmosphere really sunk its teeth into me and I decided I had to visit the actual city. And the game really did capture a certain feeling of parts of the city, at least on a surface level. The game also got me to stop just watching "art films" from HK and actually jump into its history of action cinema from wuxia to kung fu to heroic bloodshed to action comedy and horror. That was a pretty big impact from one game.

Jeremy is by far the most talented man I've across the internet. He plays games, he makes music, he makes documentaries, he's a game developer, is there anything he can't do?

*That documentary is really great, congratz!* It's crazy it's official. GabeN gathering old crew for this... A few years ago it would be unthinkable. He said himself he's not super sentimental, which might be a good trait for ambitious people and heads of companies like that, but sometimes it is very much desirable and it's great there were enough people nagging Gabe's butt so this whole thing (from Steam event, through the game updates, to this big documentary) could happen and in such a nice way. *November 2024 is HL2's 20th anniversary!* I really, REALLY hope you guys will start approach Valve (if you're not doing it already). HL2-Source Engine era is such a massive (and still ongoing) chapter for Valve, that I imagine it would be a bit easier and smoother to make a documentary about it. Probably more HL2 devs work at the company compared to HL1. Again- awesome work. Half-Life & Valve fans salute you! 👏🧡

I absolutely loved the Half-life Documentary, you guys did an amazing job on it. Since it's release, I have been watching (and rewatching) other documentaries on it, including yours on Half-life from people outside of Valve and the one on Black Mesa, as well as I have started replaying it on my Steam Deck. Absolutely fantastic work to all involved. Thank you for bringing it all together.

Via screenrant on nov, 16: "The PlayStation Portal also can't be used with video streaming apps like Netflix or KZread, which only work on the PS5 when plugged into a TV." This product is a scam and no one should buy it. But it's too late for that , because everybody already did.
