There are a ton of tutorials online, the best one I know of is on domesticimperfection.com Basically, it's paper bags (or brown contractor paper) "glued" to the floor with polyurethane.

I believe it is because of the play on words with their title. Homebuddies sounds like homebodies. Which is kind of suiting as their series has them staying mainly inside the housing arrangement trying to find things to do there rather than going out. It's also kind of ironic because homebodies are also described as unadventurous and their series is documenting their adventures in these new settings for them. I also believe that it is because when they started the series they were more of buddies than homies. In this series there is a focus on strengthening their friendship so that they can become stronger friends outside of work and are not quite at the homie level yet. I feel like since strengthening their friendship on this series is a focus as well, that if they went with Homies instead of Homebuddies the series would have felt forced and insincere.

I'm really disappointed they named this series "Home Buddies" instead of "Homies"
