We Lived at Disney World for 2 Weeks. Here's What Happened.

We spent 2 weeks living in our RV at Disney World's Fort Wilderness campground. In this video, we talk about how that stay went, give you a full tour of the campground, and decide whether Fort Wilderness is worth the (hefty) price tag.

    Aww thank you so much! Glad it was helpful. You can tell a lot about a campground by the state of its showerhouses.

    We stayed at a cabin there and really enjoyed it. Just one point for people considering staying there: You can’t use a car to go ANYWHERE within the campgrounds. They don’t provide parking, even for their stores. You have to walk, bike, rent a golf cart, or use the internal bus system. Also, it’s an AMAZING place to go during Christmas or Halloween. People decorate their sites to incredible degrees.

    @@OurMovingCastle You have to check out some YT vlogs about the place during Halloween! People go for the entire month! We went in 2022. And as far as all the kids go…we live a few hours south so we USED to go all the time…I would always think: “This place would be great if it weren’t for these KIDS!” But there’s a bright side: The best entertainment in DisneyWorld is watching the mothers losing it over their unruly, nagging children.

    In the 1980's they had a place called Discovery Island. You took a boat to the island. They had trained Macaws. My daughter got hold one. I treasure the picture, because Discovery Island is no more. They also had giant jackrabbits there and I got a picture of my daughter petting one.

    When I looked at the picture of the map you showed, it appears as though you were in loop 200 period. I will share with you having Ben multiple times loops 100 and 200 are very tight. I don’t understand why people with big rigs try to get into those spaces, unless there’s just absolutely nothing else available. If you look at other loops like 1600 1700 2000 etc. They have much more room and I think we’re probably more accommodating for the larger units. I drive a very small 25 foot class B+ so fortunately I can get into those tighter loops. Just an observation.

  • @OurMovingCastle

    @OurMovingCastle

    Ай бұрын

    Ah! That's a good insight. Yes, we were in loop 200 during our stay. It was definitely doable, but we're also full timers (lots of practice), and Justin was really excellent with spatial awareness in large vehicles even before we set out on the road (used to tow a racecar, has backed many a Uhaul down a narrow inner ring suburban driveway, etc.) I wish Disney would publish some kind of indicator that those sites are tough for bigger rigs to get into. That said, it was worth the hassle getting backed in because we loved walking so easily down to the boat to Magic Kingdom. Definitely NOT beginner friendly though.

    Oh definitely! Yeah, some others here in the comments have said that the 100 and 200 loops both have tough approaches. And I suppose it depends on how long/wide your rig is! And also how many of your neighbors are parked out on the road (when they're not supposed to). Thanks for watching.

    We ate at Space 220 in February and our experience was totally opposite yours. The food was awful, overpriced and the view was just so so. That could have been because of where we were seated. Overall though it was a dining experience we would NOT do again!

    Universal is the best! I've stayed at Ft Wilderness for the ambiance, and gone over to Uni for the fun. Its WAY less complicated, compared to Disney. I'm shocked you didnt think it's layouts are great. Just wow. I guess if you're rich and kinda geeky, Disney parks would be better. But if you just want great rides, theming, and tons of simple fun, then Uni parks are your jam. This review was great, though. Really detailed about Wilderness. Love that campground, but it sure is pricey.

  • @OurMovingCastle

    @OurMovingCastle

    Ай бұрын

    It is definitely a pricey campground! (And Disney parks were pricey too -- although it got a lot more affordable per day staying a bunch of days there, since the ticket pricing scales). Definitely had fun at Universal, we were just talking about sight lines between exhibits. (We had a great time at Rising Star karaoke and Cowfish in City Walk.) And the thrill rides are certainly better at Universal than in Disney parks. Thanks for watching.
