Diddnt you say this on another reaction vid and it went over everyones head and they were all trying to dog you for getting the quote wrong? If not it was someone else and it was ridiculous. It amazes me when people just double down even when shown that they were wrong or something went over their head.

Criston Cole didn't beat up Joffrey to protect Rhaenyra - it was because he himself felt ashamed and threatened, and all the stress and pressure built up until he went on a rampage. (Also, credit to David Lightbringer, but every time Criston said "us" when talking to Rhaenyra, he gestured to himself - his happiness, his honour etc.)

And he must have thought that Rhaenyra had told and ordered Joffrey to threaten him, since if it was revealed that they did the deed, it could harm her. We have to remember that the characters don't have the POV that we have, Criston doesn't have any knowledge of what's happening, for him, everything there sounds like a threat, blackmail and betrayal.

Viserys just wanted to have a nice party for his daughter and instead gets a bland chicken dinner and an aneurysm

It's funny how the relationship between Laenor and Joffrey was the least problematic one in the whole show so far, but in true GoT fashion, we can't have nice things.

Yeah but that is what any lord would do in his position. That is exactly what corlys wanted to do. Except the make rhanerya heir part. I think otto was completely fine with rhanerya as heir before aegon was born. The main reason he doesn't anymore is because he knows it will cause war. And obviously he would like his blood to sit on the throne for both those reasons is why he suggest rhanerya marry aegon in episode 3. Yes I believe he is self-serving. But I do think at least to some extent he genuinely cares about the realm. But If you are a lord in these times you're sole goal in life is to make your family in the best position possible.

I think he did that to get rid of Daemon. He knew he couldn't do shit with Daemon around but figured Rhaeynra would be easy enough to deal with. He didn't count on Viserys being that adamant on keeping her as heir.

Corlys never “wanted” his name on the throne, well I’m sure he wouldn’t turn it down but he knew there was never any chance that would happen. He just wants his bloodline on the throne, when he wanted his daughter to marry the king it was to get his bloodline on the throne, not to get his name because those kids wouldn’t have his name.

12:15 y'all are talking about Greyscale, which is does kinda look like but it's not that. He's just been continually knicked and stabbed by the Iron Throne and those wounds have festered and the infections have spread, making this a literal "death by a thousand cuts". It's never really explained in either this or GoT (as far as I can remember), but in the books its stated that there's a sort of superstition around the Iron Throne where if someone who is unfit for the throne is to sit on it, the throne will stab them as a show of their unworthiness.

The ending montage was my favorite scene so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me the flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with an equally gloomy Ramin Djawadi soundtrack & hook it to my veins! That pause when Criston looks up and you hear the final notes of the haunting tune is very Shakesperean. The underrated heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode. Otto is not wrong. You either hope for Rhaenyra’s mercy in the future or you act now. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment. The events at the wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. This is the episode the Greens come into their own. *Rhaenyra and Laenor were exchanging wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting “married”.*

The horse captions lmaooooooo I can't. I hope y'all stay safe in this hurricane! At this point Alicent is in a good position because she's the queen and as the wife of the king she has a lot of influence. There are also politics for how the King's wives are handled publicly. Divorcing her, banishing her, or even getting her killed will make Viserys look bad and it could have consequences on his reign because he'd be seen as unstable but as long as their private affairs stay private then typically things like cheating, abuse, etc are overlooked. For many court ladies, especially the king's women, the only way out is death.

The scene where Otto drops Truth N T on Alicent was probably my favorite scene of the episode. The acting from Alicent's actress as Otto hit her with the hard truth she hasn't been willing to face, the hug he gives her to show that even though he did use her as a pawn to advance the interests of their house he still truly loves her as a daughter. Otto is basically Tywin but with a bit more depth.

Otto is not telling Alicent the truth, he is manipulating his daughter by instilling in her completely unrealistic and unfounded fears about Rhaenyra because he wants her to start ploting to put Aegon on the throne. Also, Otto is nowhere near close being as compelling a character as Tywin was.

He's right, once Rhaenyra is on the throne there will be war as a woman will not be accepted by the realm. At that point Rhaenyra either must abdicate willingly or go to war and secure her claim, which will include killing Aegon and his siblings. Remember in this same episode Rhaenys even says as much to Corlys, that they are putting their son in the middle of all that by marrying him to Rhaenyra.

@@ericthomas837 LOL. The majority of the noble houses in the realm support Rhaenyra's accension to the throne, Aegon himself never wanted the throne and wasn't going to oppose his older sister. The only reason there's a war in the first place is because Alicent poisoned her sons' minds with lies and she, Otto and Criston go against the law and agaisnt Viserys' explicit orders and name Aegon king, stealing Rhaenyra's birthright. If Alicent and Otto hadn't been obssessed with gaining more power for their family nobody would have questioned Rhaenyra's rule and the dance of dragons could have been avoided altogether.
