Last week, I had a filming assignment on a large construction site deep in the Japanese mountains. The previous day, we had very heavy rain which made the site extremely muddy and it was deep. I am very pleased to report that my Discovery 5 on its bog standard road tyres handled the mud in normal mode (I did raise the height, but it wasn't really necessary) without as much of a moan or groan. Not once did it slip or cause me any problems. Absolutely brilliant vehicle and it is a shame that more Discovery 5s are not used in this way. I felt very satisfied as my filming assignments take me to anywhere from a suave hotel to a stone quarry or construction site on a mountain with steep hills like last week. There is also the possibility that I will need to film a natural disaster such as an earthquake at some point and that might mean having to drive over damaged roads and fallen walls etc.. There was a large earthquake on the Noto Peninsula yesterday that caused at least three houses (old buildings) to collapse and sadly one person died as he was unfortunate to have been on top of a ladder when the earthquake struck. A tunnel has also collapsed due to a landslide and I'm hoping that no vehicles were trapped inside as this week is 'Golden Week', a series of national holidays bunched together meaning that there are a lot of tourists and people out for the day. Anyway, I digress. Good video Simon and it was nice to see my homeland of Wales.

Geat video 👍 What you *do* need to develop for The Stig is a "rock slider footstep" - IE: rock sliders with a flattened top with a rubbe step. These will propely protect the side of the car and still allow easy access to the vehicle (and not get broken every time you go off-road).

Very nice video that shows off the capability of the 110 - I've been very pleased with my P300 as well. But you really should drop it into low range for terrain like that - it reduces the strain on the drive train and makes everything work easier. I put 265/70R18 BFG AT KO2's on my truck and its much better.

Amazed you did that climb in high box - I have noticed the same with both my previous D240 and now with the D250 that I can go places off-road in high box that my old TDi300 would have been a bit stressed doing in low range! I would love to know JLR’s reason for programming the TR to default to Comfort (except when Rock Crawl, I’ve found) after you turn off the engine, I know at least two people who have done quite severe tracks in ECO by accident after stopping and switching off too, car seems to be able to handle it just fine though regardless of the TR program selected!

@@L663 Hello Simon! Those new tyres sound good but I guess are mighty expensive…maybe off raiders have a set of tyres only used for that and better road tyres for normal use, I test drove an Experience RRS V8 on road tyres but when I got back and after a brisk road section, we found one tyre had a shredded tyre wall with a deep cut but still holding air…it was close though! Yes I think the 6cylinder would be nice but my D240 returns 38-44mpg and that is quite a difference….that P400 has dropped £6850 standing on the forecourt since late February and also a RRS P400e has been there since January….both are well spec’d cars and very low miles but they are not moving. Then the snapping diesel crankshaft story is around and well reported…hmmm…maybe a D250 has life in it yet?🤔🤔😥😃😃😃😃

Tried ordering from your online store to canada not sure why your shipping is so expensive, plus you charge additional out of country fees. Cart was full of goodies but couldn't justify $90 shipping and additional charges. Thats about an additional $160 Canadian funds. Ouch

I hear you and its a valid comment. The shipping is a real cost... the extra charges are designed to factor in the extra costs of servicing export customers.. there is a higher rate of damage and also return costs etc are higher but i will work the team here to try and get these costs reviewed.

@@L663 Simon - Lol !😄 its not Shouting- its just the stupidity from Land Rover whom have made a n otherwise Great Vehicle into something difficult to use with complex Computer Menus etc that take a age to find and select - LR seem to think owners walk around with Defender User Manual written on the back of their hand. And the Mirrors are a Total impractical and nigh on Useless - FORD Transit Mirrors with Blind Spot Mirrors are Light Years Ahead FGS, Youd think LR would have had enough Brains to provide Convex Mirrors or at least a Blind Spot Mirror.
