As the hives have been so successful in overwintering, we anticipate that there will be too many hives once they want to swarm so we are preparing this hive in order to give it away. As we use Rose Hive boxes which are slightly shallower than the more usual National boxes, we need to transfer the bees from our boxes to a National box. It is not as easy as just shaking the bees and the queen in as we need the queen to start laying in the new box before they can be given away....
