Seeing as my editor is being difficult and not letting me edit my long form video without crashing, I thought I'd release this catch-up video instead.
This colony had tried to swarm and seeing as I don't use queen excluders until mid summer, finding the queen was going to be difficult. In the last video, I destroyed every queen cell I could find and then separated each box with a queen excluder.
This method may not actually find the queen per se, but it does confine her into a box so she can be removed and looked for at a later date.
Once the queen has been removed, the now queenless colony will be able to make a new queen and continue the job of collecting honey. Most importantly, I won't lose a swarm over the horizon.
