She makes great dance pop music, she doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel for it to be good. I can listen to this with my headphones at the gym, at the mall, in my car or at the club. I voiced my opinions quite a bit through the stream so I’ll keep this short. This album is filled with bangers through and through and there are only 2 or 3 skips on here. While it is very generic it’s miles better than what Ed Sheehan & Justin Bieber have been putting out because the music has a really solid groove. Best track is easily Dancings Done but honorable mentions to Million Dollar Baby, Maybe You’re The Problem, Ghost & Diamonds & Dancefloors. Solid 7/10 and honestly I can still see it growing on me. I remember liking a couple of the singles from her debut album Heaven & Hell which is really generic but not awful, that's something about her music, a lot of over and over done things in pop music (like a lot of the stuff Dua Lipa & The Weeknd do but yall love praising them somehow either way), never anything experimental in a whit but never deliverying obnoxious tracks. This album was quite decent, still the same uninspired, classic pop song interpolations, with lyrics that were written by over 10 hands with still no originality at all. I read somewhere that Ava Max should have an experimental pop era like Charli XcX with the Vroom Vroom ep, and I couldn't agree more, that would bestow on her much artistical growth

    I neither love or hate her music, and that’s something I would usually think is fine for most artists, but not for someone like Ava Max who seems to be trying to emulate or “bring back” (her words apparently?) such an iconic era of pop music like the late 2000s to the early 2010s were. She’s a boring pop star and in my opinion that’s the worst thing a pop star can be. People HAVE to have opinions on them, it keeps their name and faces relevant. But as someone who has been obsessed with pop music and culture since I was very young, I truly just don’t feel anything about her. It’s just a bad sign. She’s indeed very manufactured - obviously so are most popstars - and I don’t really mind manufactured pop stars like that, they’re always going to exist. But it’s like some boomer record company executive/management completely missed the mark 🥴 That era is gone but pop stars are not. They still very much exist and they’ve adapted to new styles and trends as well as help create them. And even though Gen Z and the internet seem to be speeding up trends and their lifespans I think it’s also too soon for the nostalgia associated with that era of pop music to make a comeback, and if I’m wrong about that then Ava Max just isn’t the right person to lead that comeback. I do think she’s a talented vocalist seems to love music a lot so I hope this doesn’t sound harsh, but her vocals are also very safe and generic sounding. Her tone isn’t remarkable so it’s not like you’d recognize her instantly as soon as you heard one of her songs, there’s no specific quirks, adlibs etc to give it a bit more personality. She sounds like Ariana Grande if she sang with her chest voice and never stopped making songs like Break Free.

  • @RB-cs1qo

    @RB-cs1qo

    Жыл бұрын

    Well i think she deserves props for being brave for doing 2010 pop when no one is doing that Literally no one Also she writes all her songs with her producer A lot of those 2010 pop songs are written by the same people , which is not credit to the artists at all. For example: max martin wrote a lot for katy perry, britney, ariana, the weeknd So I think its actually brave of ava to try to emulate such an iconic and supreme period of pop music, even if she doesnt hit quite the same heights - yet.

  • @ninanano

    @ninanano

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RB-cs1qo my point is if there’s any need in the current entertainment industry for that music to be made at all. She’s trying to bring “pop” back but it never went anywhere, it just adapted. And just because a lot of the pop songs of that era were produced by a lot of the same people it does not mean they’re any less than a song produced by a smaller producer and written by the lead singer. Those songs were also just better than Ava Max’s. Max Martin is a very talented producer with a great ear for pop music and that’s why he’s so lauded. I would say the pop star she’s most often compared to is Lady Gaga and I might be mistaken but she has named Gaga as one of her influences - Gaga is a very talented musician, singer and songwriter with various credits in her own music. And her music is GOOD.

    Kings and Queens is a banger. One thing I like about Ava Max is the melodic keyboard and electric guitar solos near the end of a lot of her songs, e.g. in Sleepwalker. Nothing too crazy, just playing the main melody with a bit of harmonization and a few new notes, but it is just sayisfying. Actually reminds me a bit of Weezer, that's something that they also do very well in many of their songs.

    Oh hell nah. That’s her worst song by far. It’s straight up you give love a bad name by Bon Jovi with some generic horrible girl power verses

    If instead of having to wait for the 15 different one hit wonders off the pop charts that made really mid butts enjoyable and catchy pop music in the 2000s and 2010s... I just support a singular artist that makes all of those songs and puts them all together on one unimpeachably mid album? Sold.

    The album is extremely well made, but she's not doing anything other people are already doing and much better. Why should I listen to this album over Renaissance, Future Nostalgia, any album by The Midnight, or After Hours/Dawn FM? There's literally no reason unless you have a vested interest in Ava Max...
