My strange addiction, man addicted to his Joy

I wish we could choose a flavor instead of getting Strawberry straight away. It can have a nice effect too, like Strawberry gives a higher joy boost as its the go to flavor, Vanilla gives joy and also give you a temporary health boost until depleted, and Chocolate gives a low amount of joy but also fills some of your hunger and hydration meter.

Whenever pills are involved there’s always that one guy that overdosed on em

From what I can tell, Joy ODing just causes a bunch of visual and somewhat gameplay weirdness but is mostly harmless. It doesn't make the townsfolk angry and you can still walk around town, even if you might see something crazy. This is reparable by just hiding away to wait it out, even leaving some joy still in your system to conform again. Withdrawal is just a way to make the townsfolk more murderously mad because no joy in you. Fixable by taking another pill or by waiting it out. Memory Loss causes you to lose a lot of your food, water, and sleep gauges and makes the populace even more murderous and also kinda scary (Glowing eyes...). The best way to deal with that is to just get to a safe place, go through the episode, then have a spot of tea and a blue currant and you'll be back on your feet. This can also be a good way to reset the gauge, which is the way I did it.

I have no any idea what happens when you trigger memory loss too much. I just wanted to see how memory loss looks like. But don´t worry, when you be careful, you don´t have to take Joy. Make sure you´ll wear always the right clothes in the city (the clothes you got in the "Oh Behave" Quest), don´t run, when you see a bobbie walk to the other street side, don´t go out at night only when you have to. "Sunshine" and the right skills will help a lot too.

@Last Kid lucky you. I´m one of the poor people who have to fight with the CE-34878-0 Error. Straight near the end of Arthurs playthrough it started. After some re-starts i managed to finish his playthrough, Sallys act was loading.... game crashed again and this time it corrupted my save data and i have to start a complete new game.... nearly 20 hours for nothing.... not sure if i can force myself to play it in the next days again :D

I wouldn't be surprised if the game locks you out of taking Joy permanently, as a consequence for triggering the Memory Loss too many times.

I know that Arthur mentioned at some point something like "i don´t have to forget Percy!" It would be interesting to find out what will happens after triggering more memory loss. If that could end in a "game over" or if nothing happens. Maybe i´ll try it out after i finished the main story.

homework for you.... if you curious about what happens when you interact with the town on joy, try it out by your own ;) I personally wanted to show how memory loss looks like. I think the most people will see by their own how people react when they interact with the town.... it´s a part of the gameplay. But i think a lot of people don´t want to trigger memory loss in their own playthroughs, because of the evtl. consequences.

NPCs have high pitches voices when you’re overdosed, and while you’re in memory loss NPCs will have orange/red glowing eyes and deep demonic voices.

I didn’t know if memory loss is permanent or if you’re able to get rid of it. Because depending on the case I wasn’t sure if I should avoid taking joy at all costs or not. Thank you for this video. It is exactly what I was looking for.

Damn.. You can clearly see how the Joy really works. Once you get into a memory loss you can clearly see how the real world is. Very dark and sinister, which is completely the opposite once you take your Joy. Damn.

Unfortunately not. But there are some tricks how you can walk freely in the city without taking joy: always wear the clothes you got in the "Oh, Behave!" mission, don't go out at night only if you have to, take care of these flying robots - don't get spotted and if you see a bobbie just walk to the other street side. This is working for me for the most of the time (my memory loss is at 85%). Btw. I found in the Garden District on a workbench the plan for making "Sunshine". That are lenses that makes you look like you are on joy - seems to be very helpfull too. I still need to find some bleach for crafting them.

haha same here ^^ I really wonder how fast people could finish Arthurs playthrough and i just entered today the second part of the garden district because .... like you.... i was the most of the time busy with doing side quests. I´m playing the PS4 version and just noticed some bugs and glitches during some side quests. Like the "Hive" quest where i can´t collect the honey or when i´m doing night quests, talking to a person and when during the chat night turns into daytime, the person is vanished straight and my game freezed.

Last Kid it causes you to vomit which causes dehydration, hunger and exhaustion. Make sure you're indoors when that happens.
