I grew up having convulsions. My health wasn't the best as a child. Last year I was in the emergency for palpitations. It was my first time to call 911 via Ontario Health here in Canada for myself. It's scary for parents when their children have very high fevers. Good luck, Paolo and family!

The earthquake alone was a scary moment. But having a medical emergency on top of that must have been crazy scary. It's good Wolfy is better now.

Paolo…man *hug*. As a father myself, I couldn’t hold back tears seeing the fear and emotion in your eyes. I’ve never felt as much fear as the first time I had to rush my son to the emergency room, not knowing what was wrong. When people ask me what fatherhood is like, I tell them it’s a combination of inexplicable love and fear both at the same time. The look in your face said it all.

I’m so sorry that happened to your family and I’m so glad that he’s feeling better. My daughter had two febrile seizures when she was about 1 1/2 years old and they are terrifying. So so so glad he’s okay now.

I'm glad Wolfy is okay! Had to call the ambulance for my baby too, I was scared and felt helpless, but afterwards I was very grateful to live in a place where you get help just by dialing a number, how amazing is that.

Ah, I cried when you cried, Paolo! It's such a hard thing to witness and as you're both new parents it had to be even harder.... and then to have it be the night of that big earthquake! Such terrible timing. I'm so, so glad you all got through it ok and that you're all on the mend, physically and hopefully mentally and emotionally too. So much love to your three!

Ah, the joys of parenthood. I remember when our first born got sick and had a fever of 105. It was scary, so I sympathize with you. I know it’s hard, but you guys are doing a great job with Wolfy. You are great parents.

I remember my daughter having an intense febrile seizure during a night terror and it was one of the scariest moments of my motherhood. you both did so well even if you felt like you panicked.

At the end, when Wolfy went from a grin to a huge smile, then pointed to Paolo and said "DA DA"...that made my eyes leak saltwater for some reason! It was so precious...just like all 3 of you!

"We love you Wolfy!" "You left me in that madhouse for 2 whole hours..." *angry stare* 🤣🤣

Aw this made me cry 😭.. You both are amazing parents I cannot imagine the stress you both felt with all of that on top of no sleep.. how scary.. I am truly happy that you are all safe and was good to see Wolfie being more chipper ... please take care of yourselves and each other you both need care as well so you can keep being amazing parents .. some special caring things for yourselves and maybe a date night too... you both are amazing parents ... so strong💗💗💗

When I was a kid, I remember my baby brother having a convulsion. My older cousin ran outside shirtless trying to get a cab in his panic. Its a scary scary thing. Im glad baby Wolfy is better.

He is exactly what the world needs now more than ever really great Dad's.

Undress a child with a fever to help his body cool down. Also, keep giving acetaminophen to stay on top of the fever. Wolfie is going to have many more bugs until his immune system is stronger.

A lot of acetaminophen is bad for kids. It can cause organ failure so I don’t think that’s a good idea

Looking how old Wolfie is, you can alternate children's tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and reduce pain. Stop covering him with blankets it drives temperatures up.

When you teared up, I teared up. Takes me back to when my son (also first time parents) was running a fever. We had plans for dinner and didn't end up taking our son. My mother stayed with him and I just didn't feel right. Had one margarita but kept telling his dad for us to go home, that something wasn't right. Came home to our son having a seizure because of the high fever. My mother had accidentally covered him in blankets and I just remember his dad panicking. We rushed to the ER where he was semi conscious but ok. It took about 3 to 4 hours to be released, so it was just because of the high fever that spiked up so quickly. I thought we were losing him. But we were so relieved after. Scariest moment of our lives.

You two are showing that you are caring loving parents. Keep up the good work, raising a child is hard work however you are doing it right.

I was 6 years old when I had my first seizure in my sleep. Ended up taking meds for it everyday of my life till I was 17 years old. I hope Wolfe is ok and the fevers stay away. Any seizure is scary. I really pour my heart out to you 3.

That's not true- it's not just them... Literally, any child can have the same issue. My son had them twice. cool them down, less clothes no blankets, and increase their iron/vitamins. i bounce between Tylenol and Motrin. it worked wonderfully. He is perfectly fine and back to 100% in a few days.

It’s very common in young kids. 2 out of 4 of our littlest (2 are new Jews of mine we asoprws) had it and the oldest who has it also had breath holding spells that always ended in a seizure. Ir was involuntary on his part and also was grown out of about a year after the febrile seizures stopped too Scary and nothing to be dismissive about BUt once we earn what they are and why they happen. That it’s not a seizure disorder or epilepsy… it gets easier with time

Also, it rarely is just 1 febrile seizure. Usually that child is prone to having them and will have them again with the next fever or one after. They are predisposed to it but so outgrow them

Glad all is OK. I remember going through this a few times when my kids were little. Just think about it as, his immune system getting stronger. Here in the UK, we give medication, normally paracetamol, as soon as temp starts to rise

@@airinng That was insane! They are so lucky that he didn't die when he was having seizures already. I was watching it and thinking... get him to emergency for God's sake. Then when she was saying something about warm cloths? You're supposed to use cool cloths to bring down the temperature. Warm is going to raise his temperature as we all know. I just don't get it. AND they're filming to boot!

Thank you for sharing your family's story even though it was very traumatizing. It is such a relief to know Wolfy is back to being himself again! You and Maiko are such loving parents, I'm glad that you all are doing much better!

As someone who experienced febrile fits myself when i was young, i heard the whole process of the first few times it occured from my parents after i grew up. Both of you did great and i can totally understand the feelings of the parent when that happened, an experience thats very frightening and full of distress. Don't worry as he received necessary help in time. This condition happens only with high fever when the temperature hits about 38-40 or above. My symptoms began with whole body going weak, eyes looking upwards, skin appearing pale purple-ish (lips, nails, hands), stiff body, frothy saliva and jerking of body/limbs, sometimes clearing of bowel. Based on my condition, an episode of fits during fever above 38.5 deg Celsius usually last about 4-5 minutes, sometimes does hit more than 5 minutes to 10 minutes then it stops, and only occur once without repeated episodes in the same day. It is advised to seek for medical help if he has an episode longer than 5 minutes, having breathing problems or vomiting symptoms. As i aged, the fits slowly does not occur even during fever and completely disappear as i enter the age of 6. We always have fever reducing suppositories ready in the fridge to keep my fever in control during those days and help reduce my body temperature by dabbing with wet towels and warm water. The doctor advised to tilt the body to lay on the side to avoid biting on tongue and allow saliva to flow out, at the same time we were given rectal antiepileptic medications for the time the fit occurs. According to Chinese traditions, my parents also reduced the my daily consumption of "heaty food" so fever don't hit easily and reduce high calories food like rice during fever so that the temperature wont goes up fast. They had also tried Chinese tradition remedies to reduce body heat like Egg Rub remedy (Hong Ahn). These are just my experiences that i share in hopes that it may be useful to provide some insights, however, not all cases may apply the same. I am glad that wolfy is feeling better! You guys are doing GREAT in staying strong to help your child, i just want to say that you guys are AWESOME! Also to all the parents who had to go through similar experiences including my parents.

Being scared in a situation like that isn't weak. While those situations can be scary, there is no weakness in being scared, or letting your child(ren) see that in you. But also yes, being a parent is hard work, but by far the most rewarding.

@@Kronos0999 If when you refer to being "weak" as letting your child see you cry, then you can totally do that because crying isn't a sign of being weak. I saw my father cry every now and then with the possibility of more times I don't recall right now. Crying is processing emotions, a completely normal thing that allows people to identify feelings and how to manage them. There are times where I might be down about something, and my daughter picks up on that, and comforts me which in turn makes me so happy/proud that I cry a little out of happiness and she sees that.

As a parent, I know how scared you both must have been when this happened. It's hard to have to deal with kids having these fevers and such. But both of you are being wonderful parents. I hope you both and of course Wolfy are feeling a lot better and have found some calm in all of this.

I know whenever those types of emergency alarms go off in the middle of the nite unexpectedly, my heartbeat races with palpitations for like another 15 minutes afterwards. The shrieking alarms are often worse than the actual emergency. Glad all is well now, Tokyo Z✌

Here in US when my son had fever of 101 I would alternate Childrens Motrin and childrens tylenol. Like the Motrin and then Tylenol 2-3 hours later then 2-3 hours later the Motrin. Don’t let the fever go beyond 103 for too long. It can cause other issues with the seizures. Glad all is well!!!!!

Always ask your family/ pediatric doctor first if you are using mortin for children, reye syndrome is a real issue in children.

Juat use tylenol every 4 hour using child dose, no need to change /combine medicine. Usually works

We too ended up in the emergency room with our toddler due to a fever not breaking. The Dr. recommended the infant tylenol, infant ibuprofen too. He also recommend stripping our baby of clothes and luke warm baths to help lower the fever. Daycare introduced your child to many germs and these illnesses help them build their immunity system. It's scary, but you're doing great.

Had a very similar experience with our daughter when she was 3 months and they were afraid of it possibly being meningitis. Was the most scared I’ve ever been. Great job on keeping your cool your whole family is very lucky to have each other.

I remember driving my baby to the hospital. The anxiety stress and feeling of helplessness. I think all parents can relate. What really tough is all the medicine we usually take isn't available for our precious little ones.

I wish I could give you all a big hug! I have 2 little boys and my oldest was constantly in and out of urgent care/emergency room after we enrolled him in daycare in the US. Little kids just get so much stuff from daycare-- RSV, Croup, ear infections, hand foot and mouth, etc.! But once you get through the first 2 years, you all will have immunity of steel!! Hang in there!!

You did what you could! My mom is a nurse. She knew every step to take with fevers when I had a bad one, and still paniced! I had to be taken to the hospital to have my fever reduced as well. I was chock full of fluids, pedialyte, and ice packs at home for a week with very little improvement. Kids' bodies are just not ready for major fevers sometimes. And with the reduced germ exposure due to covid, the building up of the immune system is delayed. Glad the whole family is safe and recovering. Also I am impressed by those earthquake mounts. Super innovative!

Welcome to fatherhood. And news flash, you will NEVER EVER stop worrying and having fear. You just learn to deal with it. But you will never stop having fatherly concern, even as your child goes into adulthood. It ages you, but it is worth it in fatherhood!!! And then when you think it is all clear, here comes GRANDFATHERHOOD!!!!! And now there is more worrying, fearing, and caring. Cheers to a long life of experiencing fatherhood and eventually grandfather!!!

Hi Paolo, I am an ER nurse and deal a lot with pediatrics. Anything above 102F we get real worried about for children as anything above that for children is high risk for febrile seizures. Make sure that you are cycling acetaminophen and ibuprofen to get that fever down quickly for children within the time frame for the over the counter medicine as labelled on the box. When baby has a fever, do not cover them up in blankets or pajamas to help the fever go down. You could also put a cold towel on top of baby's head and ice packs under armpit. Armpit thermometers are okay, but the standard for pediatrics are rectal thermometers for more accurate tempature. Essentially, the 102F you get on the armpit temperature, might really be 103-104F for core temp. These are the types of things I would educate the parents of my patients with so hope these tips help. Having a child with a super high fever is one of the scariest things to go thru. My son was 2 when he had a febrile seizure. His lips turned blue and he was foaming. I live in the US, so we couldn't afford an ambulance. We jumped in our car and rushed him to the city just south of us where the nearest ER was. Everything turned out ok, but his fever had spiked from 101.9 to 104.2 in less than 20 minutes. They had no idea what caused the fever. Just some unknown fever virus. It was terrifying to go thru, so I can't even imagine also dealing with having just been thru a large earthquake!! I'm glad Wolfy is ok! Oh they told me that once a child has a febrile seizure, they are more prone to having others. My son has never had one since, so don't think that's an absolute guarantee. Now I do monitor him very closely when he has fevers, and he's had a couple since then that got fairly high. But they didn't spike quickly, which is what I think set that first off.

My youngest son who is 9 (his middle name is Wolf) has Febrile convulsions. I can remember the 1st time it happened and I went into complete panic mode. His 1st one was when he was 4 and 1/2 and we had to call an ambulance also. He continues to have them still but they last maybe up to 5 mins. I now know what to look out for, to help him get his temp down so he dosen't spike in temp - flushed cheeks, the whites of his eyes go cloudy, sullen and unusually quiet and complete loss in appetite. He hasn't had one in at least a year as I have him take vitamins, localised raw honey and plenty of filtered water to flush his system. Every child is different and you'll find what works for you. I also as a precaution keep a few moist flannels in a plastic bag in the freezer ( to help bring his temp down fast). You guys are doing an amazing job and are such awesome parents. Wolfie is truly blessed. Love and Light. Blessings to All

At the start of every school year, my child would come home with a cold/flu when otherwise healthy. So glad Wolfy is better and you are too!

This video helps me since I'm feeling pretty sick today. Seizures are pretty scary for anyone with a high fever or neurological disorder like epilepsy. I'm glad that Wolfy's doing okay and hopefully feels better.

Here, in Romania, if a child has fever (or anyone), you strip them almost naked, keep them hydrated as much as possible and run tests to see if it’s a stomach bug or other things. And depends on the child’s age, you alternate on ibuprofen and paracetamol. Need to be in close contact with the family doctor. But 100% strip and give cold compresses, lots of fluids. I hope everybody is ok now and wish for health to everyone! 🙏🏻🤗

When I was a nurse they used to advise tepid sponging to try to bring the temperature down but these days they say not to. So yes advice can be very confusing. But you did the right thing in calling the ambulance when you did. ❤

In the hospital you could see the concern in your eyes it made me cry. My son started daycare and got really sick to the point i almost lost him and i remember just feeling so helpless.
