bianchi1885 I loved them a lot as I grew up, they aren't much older then me and there are many songs that I hold close to my heart. Then I moved on a bit but I still come back frequently. I still listen to them at least once a day. So now my granddaughter who is 2 listens with me and loves them.

Simon LeBon has carved into the history of modern music because of his unique vocal sound. No one sounds like him! Nick Rhodes is creative and thoughtful and philosophical in this approach & ability to compose and arrange. It’s all fabulous for the listeners!

I used to go to the Rum Runner in Birmingham every week in the early 80s so I used to see the band around quite a lot, even chatted to them a few times, so it was fascinating to see them evolve from local band into the global phenomenon that they became. Good to see Nick Rhodes still has his little black and yellow EDP Wasp synthesizer behind him in the studio - it was cheap and plasticky but created some great sounds which suddenly made electronic music creation possible for more people and was probably instrumental in kick starting Nick's exploration of sound. I had one back in the day, but I pushed it too far and it's sadly no more :(

Simons “I’m so glad it was us who had that success” reminds me of Queens Roger Taylor saying “we were always popular, and that got right up some peoples noses”, a jibe at the “too cool” music press who constantly slated them, all through their career. DD are much the same position, they’ve always been popular, they’ve always been able to sell out arena tours, they’ve always been hated by some sections of the music press.

She refers to the fact that they never played what I call "the Bono move": pretending to be involved in social causes and activism. In fact, in the 80s a lot of people used to mock them calling them a "Tory band", mostly because they never pretended to be "men of the people". John and Simon have said it many times: they never had a political agenda and just wanted to have fun and make people around them have fun too.

Everything else has been chasing ghosts of fame past and ephemeral hopes of striking another hot iron. You know what..I am sending ANOTHER comment after reading other comments on here. WOW! I thought I was the ONLY ONE who noticed that John was ignoring his audience..but I am reading that A LOT of Duran Duran fans notice this too. Looks fade John..REMEMBER THAT. You CAN'T rely on your looks forever..YOU'RE HEADING FOR THE BIG 60 REALLY SOON. I think Simon AND Nick NEEDS a NEW bass player..a HOT 20 year old..not an old fart neglecting his audience.

April Dannette I met all of them in 2011. They were all super sweet except for John. He was very standoffish, so I didn’t even try to get a pic with him. Simon was such a sweetheart, and Roger was just as nice as he seems.
