***We Got Tubes!***

It's all slowly coming together. Tubes are built. Next up is to finish the doors and back wall. Then I can start getting the cap bank and amps put in. Hoping to have it playing within the next couple weeks.

What do yall think of the new intros?. Do you think this cap bank will be big enough? What's your thoughts on the tubes? Let me know here in the comments. Thanks!

Get that router table secure. You work fast. Sign of a seasoned vet. Good shit. This shits gonna pound without question. This series is dope AF.
it's coming together pretty fast you are dedicated and a hard working dude can't wait till it's done.😎
Great job derrick. 👌👌👌👌 love the videos. Keep them coming👍
IM HERE FOR THE TIME LAPSE "BEAT" LOL 😆 💯💪🏼🔊
This is just amazing - never seen anything like this before. Can't wait to see (and hear) this in person. Ear plugs will be mandatory - I bet you'll be able to give people nose bleeds with this!!
Amazing work and I love that you’re pretty much baring all with this build. I remember back in the day a lot of the loud guys wouldn’t even let you look in their car. You’re just like fuck it this is exactly what I’m doing lol.
Derrick. You have a phlegmatic personality. Your appy and sad are so close to each oter it takes a true friend to know them apart. Thr upside, youre reliable like a granite boulder. Amazing work dude!
Scott did the same with his and all SAS enclosures are round tube as well. It's been a proven concept for many years.
👍👍👍
Would like to see you do a video on the box design and what type it is considered and everything like that
Crazy build , great work 👍👍
Your channel has become my new favorite car audio channel... Thanks for all the knowledge and cool videos... Keep them coming 👍
So much science involved ! Great progress 👍 thanks for letting us see it all go down
There is no substitute for experience. Brilliant work Sir!!!!
Great job! Hard work and dedication pay off.
Super caps instead of batteries. Nice. You must have some powerful alternators to keep up with em.
great video! its nice to see every piece of the builds documented like this, looking forward to the rest!
Doing great work! Keep it up!
It was honestly so amusing to watch you cut and assemble those tubes.
Very nice indeed ser!!!👍
U are the man.. fantastic job..keep up the great work..this what being a basshead is all about. #Bass 4 Ever
Your a fuckin machine brah! Excellent work so far!
Awesome vids.
Hard work pays off always
Awe dude, props to you man, I feel your pride and excitement at the end of the vid there man xx
Man them tubes will be perfect. Experience and all your test runs. Knowledge is king
I cant wait to see this done wish you all the best
Building anything to go boom is exciting. 😂
My tubes were definitely louder! I gotta agree with you, I did 4 t2 15s in 4 massive tubes...we refer to them as bass cannons lol!
Dude. Much respect for what you do man. To have cut all of that out and not just have someone cut them out on a machine is awesome. Can't wait to see what this thing will do when you are done!
Really enjoying these frequent updates with so much being done. Great work!

Trying to get an update done at least every couple days. Things are progressing fast now that I have a bunch of supplies in and ready to go.
I was on your Instagram page earlier. Now you have me over here considering caps. If I could get a super power it would be to time lapse in real life haha. Keep up the great work Project SPL FTW!
👊great job
Great video and testing info at the end!
Definitely looks insane
Great video as always 😊
This is sick dude!!! I love this channel!!
Holy cow you aure are kicking butt getting mad progress accomplished on your build up project
Watching you cut those made me want to send you some thick aluminum 18" round stock to save you the pain hahah. As a wood and metal fabricator I can say I bet you're going to get a good night of sleep after cutting all them.
That enclosure is gonna be insane!
The thing about hard work, it will either pay off, or it will kill ya!!
Dude you are a beast! 👍
Love the new intro. That was a great surprise to see the cap banks already there. I believe you have plenty of caps and some to spare. The tubes look awesome. I know it's a lot of work man, but it's coming together very nicely. I think it will all be worth it in the end. Keep up the awesome work. Looking forward to the next update.
Damn man that's alot of wood work lol but that thing is looking more and more beautiful everytime you post an update... love the work, keep kicking ass!!!
I can't wait 👍👍👍👍👍
You put alot of work in
I did some math and yeah those caps should be able to put out quite a shitton of power for spl purposes. Hell they could power my system for over a minute with only a drop of 1v with no power going in.
Hey at least you got a good head start on the tubes for when you go 15s. You can just use the centers of the rings to make the 15 rings
That is my goal for cells but I want to run some yinlong 40ah lto cells. Loving the update videos. Can't wait till it's ready.
The new intro is cool, I really like it.
Joking lol, but i love the build man. Badass! You gonna hit that 172 for sure man 👌🏻.
I’ve Always loved the performance of tubes compared to square enclosures. Tubes can be made very light due to the nature of the round shape itself very hard to stretch and compress. With a common squared enclosure you would need lots of bracing and even so, sometimes there’s a little bit of flex going on. Of course you can have a very solid squared enclosure for SPL the damn thing will be so heavy it will be pretty much the weight of the vehicle itself to avoid issues. Tubes are solid. Good example is carbon nanotubes used in science.
Looks great I'm very impressed can't wait until it's finished and I think CJ on 32s sent you a shout-out for hooking him up with the amp
The intro is COOL 👍👍
Don't forget xtra PRETTY....you have got to keep the trolls happy..😨...I cant wait to see how it turns out....keep up the good work
wow. I love you guys job. I always want my sound to be all sundown. Can I get some sample? ✌
Nice bro!!!! That really looked like a lot of work but I bet the end result will be amazing! I'm looking to redo my system later this year. I have an 04 Acura TL with 2 12" Skar VVXv3 in the trunk. I have a JBL GTO 1400.1 powering them. They slam hard but I want a set of the SA-15's in the trunk, just because I want to keep my amp for now.
Sorry couldn't help it... Watched to the end and COULDN'T keep my mouth shut! I'M SURE IT'S A HIGH TO YOU CAUSE I CAN TELL YOU LOVE EVERY MIN OF IT AND AT THE END WHEN YOU CRAWLED INTO YOUR " MASTERPIECE" YOUR EYES GREW AND GREW AS YOU EXPLAINED YOUR RELIEF AND HAPPINESS THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE! I'M HAPPY FOR YOU! IT'S YOUR "BABY".... In all honestly looks like a MR 6.5 CREATION ON A HUGE SCALE... AND Anyone in the know will tell you what he does with that box is NOTHING short of AMAZING! And what CAMERA were you using on that shot of the above table saw the saw dust was like I was there... WHATEVER CAMERA that is great I mean GREAT QUALITY!

Love this build. So much new information. If I play the video at double speed does the project get done faster? Lol!
Trippy
That's alot of super caps. U may need a couple chargers in order to keep them up too par. Or a couple alternators.
I loved the intro driving in. It set up what was to come and made the video exciting to watch because I'm waiting for the fun stuff. Those caps are way more than I expected when you see them all together like that. I had a question on charging them - do they hold a charge overnight? Or do they bleed the charge off on their own or with heal/cooling cycles, etc? Sawdust everywhere was awesome! Epic time lapse!!!
Yo I truly appreciate u show step by step what it takes to BUILD a real BURRRPP system. Educate the idiots of this world. It ain't easy as u can see🤔.
Hi Derrick, loving the videos! Have you ever thought of trying to kerf the cylinders instead of stack fab ? I don't even know if its possible but would save a tonne of wood, sundown for the win !!!!!

Well Derek I am super impressed with everything you have done making an awesome step by step educational series of videos. I have currently replaced my 18s with U series aswel. I Was wondering if from your experience and knowledge of Sundown products you could give me an ideal cube to run my 2 U18s to burp at using rings.
Awesome vid Derrick. Love the timelaps. I guess you got tired of routerwork that day huh? 😂
Did you cut that one light out for the video? That's some dedication if so, I hate working in poor lighting, good video man looking great 👍
Since you rarely see tubes on a musical 4th is it better to have a common chamber over each sub in its own tube per say

I built the Sundown demo van with individual tubes in a very low tuned musical 4th order.
My God man!!! Two words; CNC Router!!!! Next time make a mold and use engineered concrete! That build looks like a lot of fun. Best part is the space you have. Did you ever get to 170Db?
Holy moly that's enough field day EMT device
Great job , Two questions . Can those tubes be used for music applications ? What did you do to feel the cover the hole on top of truck where you poured the foam .
WOW , I know you got a smoking deal on them , but With the cap Buss bars & 120 caps show , if my math is right that's about 9 thousand worth of stuff , guess I will have to wait for the build bteakdown
you got it bad..... basshead. is there rehab for this ish. 1+1=0.5 and 6ga "power wire" = speaker wire! keep up the hard work its beautiful.

I believe that 100%. You seem like a good honest guy and that’s a fairly rare trait today, especially in the car audio world. You got my support and respect. Ill continue to watch your videos👍👍
I dont know about 5 in series especially with no balancing devices i dont know how sensitive they are if an extra volt will just degrade them or how much it takes before they blow up
WooHoo 181 FTW!!!
Im not an expert.... but it reminds me of the bazookas
UH OHHH TM RUSH OLD SCHOOL BABY
What wood and thickness did you use? Like 3/4?
181 FTW!!!
Hey no cell phones while you're working! Lmao! Are you gonna do a video on how you wire all that stuff? I've been kinda intrigued about how people wire in all the batteries and caps and alternators and stuff
Who makes XS caps? are they the black maxwells or that one other brand
TM Rush tubes. FTW

What's the diffrence between tubes and a port with flared ends

you get more amperage out of the less caps you have in series... he plans on overcharging them to make up his voltage i guess. guess he doesnt care if they fail long term from the overcharging .
@charliefrancis6438
5 жыл бұрын
From what I understand you will get more amperage for a longer time if you start with a higher voltage on these super caps because when you drop the voltage on the caps ,say 2.7 down to 2 , they still have more than 60% of there power left , therefore if you have 5 in series your down to 10 volts and you still have a lot of juice left in the caps , I think you will get more power by having 6 in series and charging to 16 volts . Unless he competing in a voltage limited class I see no good reason for 5,thanks for you reply
How did you know how many rings you need like for the air space
Are you using birch for the whole build??
@UnofficialAudio
5 жыл бұрын
Yes authentic Baltic birch straight from Russia
You should use sunflash from SMD that shit is no joke and hardens in less than a minute with the fiberglass material from SMD
