RIP Ad. I have a dwarf hamster and can’t imagine losing him. Ad was literally the most well behaved and trusting hamster. My dwarf took weeks to trust me. He would bite my finger anytime I would change his food. Now when he hears me he comes out and will crawl onto my hand. If Dobby ever dies I’m going to heartbroken, even though I have a dog and a fish. Petsmart does not give proper care advice or offer cages that are proper. I made similar mistakes to you, found the hamster KZread world and fixed everything but I’m still Learning.

Watching this and just seeing how willing she was to improve was amazing. She did more research and got Ad a much better enclosure, and it's very appreciated to do so as a large youtuber. It's important that you make an impact on the viewers of your video, and that's exactly what she did.

She's a new pet parent. Give her time to figure out what is good and bad. I've had my rats for almost a year and I'm still figuring stuff out about them but that doesnt mean they are neglected or abused. They are my babies and get more attention then anything else. Although she didn’t have all the proper stuff for Ad in this video like a proper cage and wheel and stuff, right off the bat her hamster care was better than most people. When I was a kid I had 2 friends who had hamsters, and their cages were WAY smaller. They were more akin to like those awful tiny tales cages, but even tiny tales had more space. They were super cramped and had three floors and the hamster could only barely fit on the top floor because the roof pointed like a house. They both would have a hamster each and because they were siblings they had the same kind of cage. One had three that were super hyper and died within three months, and looking back I’m sure they all died from stress. This doesn’t make her care here the proper care, and I’m sure there’s a lot of stuff I’m missing because I never had a hamster, but even still right off the bat she’s doing better than people I personally know. I’m not saying it’s right I’m just saying it’s better than what a lot of people do, and honestly that’s super sad. Before you get on my case for not educating them, we were all like 12 and I never did my research because I never owned a hamster. If anyone should be blamed here, it’s their mother because the hamsters and cages and stuff were a gift to her children for Christmas so she had to do all the research and stuff beforehand.

I always appreciated Jenna’s videos because she shows a realistic version of trying anything. Most people would get a hamster with hamster stuff from the pet store without knowing it wasn’t good for them. And once she learned her mistakes she fixed them. So it really breaks my heart the amount of comments are giving her crap for not taking care of Ad properly, when she fixed it. I recently took over my boyfriends hamster (we’re still together, it’s just I’m the primary caretaker of the hamster lol). And jenna taught me how to love my hamster without overwhelming me or making me feel like I’m bad hamster parent for making the mistakes I did. I upgraded him to a larger enclosure and I’ve been making fun food puzzles for him. I know Ad isn’t with us anymore, but he made an impact on all of us

i almost wish they had gotten a bird! i have six budgies and one turquoise parrot currently, and am raising one chick that my pretty girl hatched. i’ve also cared for raptors almost all my life (owls, vultures, eagles, falcons, etc.) and am working towards getting another macaw after my rescue scarlet, louie, passed away at 73 due to cancer. parrots and parakeets are the most loving animals i’ve ever seen, but they’re definitely time consuming. the only reason i’m able to care for my birds well is because i’ve dropped any social life i had, and i work from home as well. they sure are demanding, but to me it couldn’t be more worth it. the love they give is so rewarding.
