Full transparency: there was a failure on Ryan's microphone, so if he sounds a bit processed, that's why. Basically, I put a left-right splitter into the transmitter, expecting it to fold to mono, but it only took audio from one side (my channel). Diamanda and Omega had a double-head lav mic in their transmitter, so they were fine. The only audio of Ryan was basically distance from my mic and Diamanda and Omega's mic, and I didn't think the quality was good enough. I ended up having to reconstruct his voice in Voice Enhance, then importing those files in and layering them in carefully over the room reverb of his voice from Diamanda and Omega's mic so that it seemed more "in the room" (trying to avoid a weird echo or phasing issues if possible). I had to do this for virtually everything he spoke.
Jodie Comer was apparently George Miller's first choice for Furiosa. I'm glad that didn't happen. I can't imagine anyone doing what Anya Taylor-Joy does in this. Unbelievable performance in a film that shouldn't be bombing.

Comer would be a horrible choice. Anya brought so many emotions with just her eyes. She also sounded so much like Charlize at times.

As it happens Comer co-stared with Tom Hardy in 'The Bikeriders' which came out only a few weeks after Furiosa [after Furiosa was delayed for a year and Bikeriders for 6 months].
Corpus Colossus' actor passed in 2018 from an asthma attack (yeah, had nothing to do with his osteogenesis imperfecta, even). He sadly could not reappear.
The actor that played Corpus Colossus Quentin Kenihan sadly passed away back in 2018 and that's why Corpus Colossus was not in the movie
Brian Flim. Ryan Hollinger, Diamanda Hagan and Omega Geek?! What is this, a crossover episode? Anyway, great gang to discuss an interesting film.
Enjoyed y’all having a good conversation about the flick. Loved it and loved the movie too. I dunno somehow I see too many review lashing out on Furiosa because…feminism? Sexism? This vid was a fresh air that I very well needed to take in. Thank you.

I've seen a few comments/reviews moaning at it [saying it 'ruined the franchise''] which feels like it's got little to do with the actual film given it's critical acclaim.
Miller didn't fuck up whether or not Furiosa was a wife or not. She was. She was wearing the chastity belt. Rictus cuts it off of her before he gets molesty. Joe doesn't recognise her because she cuts her hair and smears her face (and it HAS been several years. He's gone through several wives, likely, some of whom occasionally vanish.) Remember, the red hair everyone had last seen her in wasn't even the natural hair colour.
I think Dementus's incompetence has been a little oversold. He's fairly efficient at leading small groups, taking over enemy motorcycle gangs and attracting followers. He rolls up to the Citadel with like a thousand bikers. He knew Joe would kill him if he showed up at their original meet so he sets up a contigency plan. Later, he lures the Bullet Farm leader out to the Citadel by arranging a fake meeting, so he briefly has control over two of the three fortresses. Yeah, he's pretty shit at organization and management (do we even know if the riots at Gastown were real or were they faked to draw out a meeting?), but if he had someone to manage the day-to-day and prevent uprisings, he's one Praetorian Jack and Furiosa away from having immense leverage against the Citadel and may end up having all 3. Despite clearly hating what he's become. Yeah, we see him fail ultimately but the idea he's some circus clown is I think a little unfair.
Great to see another 'podcast' episode [I recently re-listened to the 'Avengers Endgame' episode which I really enjoyed].
I am glad that George Miller got the opportunity to tell a different style of story [set over many years and told in 'episodes] in his world established after the opening installment instead of the traditional 'Max encounters trouble' plot [as much as a love 'Road Warrior' and 'Fury Road'] even if doing a Tom Hardy sequel might have been more logical. I really enjoyed the action and Hemsworth over the top villain especially. It's a shame it's box office has been disappointing but it turning up 9 years after 'Fury Road' [due to legal issues and Covid] and lacking the leads from that film [as Miller decided against de-aging Charlize Theron] was going to be a hard sell [at one point the two were going to be filmed back-to-back and the original script was used by Theron as an aid during 'Fury Road's' filming]. Given Miller's age and the box office, this is probably it [Tom Hardy has said he doubt's he'll play Max again] but I'm glad we got these extra installments given the series seemed done after 'Thunderdome'.
Film Brain rules all!
I agree, its always a bad idea when you put real life tragedies into Superhero films. It was similar as when Thor came to eath, saw the devestation of Hurrican Kathrina in New Orleans and wondered why the Avengers did not stop it. Although, Captain America did start out as fighting in World War 2, while World War 2 was happening (even before the US was officially involved). And there are some old Fleischer Superman cartoons where Superman fights the Germans and the Japanese in World War 2, also released in the 40s. Obviously, Superman was much less powerful back then than nowadays.
Diamanda without the makeup!
Hi Omega geek! :D
Keep in mind the mad max movies are 18 raited while fury road and this are 15.

Beyond Thunderdome has always been 15. All of them are now 15 rated as of 2015.

Thunderdome was noted as being 'softer' at the time [with the presence of the kids] and was a 15. It's similar to how 'The Terminator' used to be an 18 and T2 was seen as softer as a 15 due to having a kid in John Connor but T1 was re-rated 15.
