Learnt to cut my water bore drilling on a 1967 Mayhew 1000 table drive mounted on a 1985 Ford LTL. Later stepped up to a Volvo mounted Schramm 450 with 15 pipe carosel. Then later went to SIS/ CSG directional drilling with a UDR 1200 and an American Auger. I miss drilling!

Well it did that time. I don't really know what sends the wires round I have tried to hold them so I couldnt possibly be influencing the result with just my fingers etc and I still get a result. I don't know if its a fault in the ground or weather its actually water. Some people swear by it others think its a great joke. In India they use a coconut to dowse with. I have seen a crystal used. I think if you get a result and get water it works, if you get a result and it don't get water it doesn't work. John

We had a water well drilled back in 1977. On my farm in Mississippi. I got to talking to the owner of the company. He said he had drilled water wells in Venezuela. He said it was hard to do. Because they kept finding oil not water. He told me . They knocked off for the day one day. With tools still in the hole. When they came back the rear of the truck, and his drilling rig were down in a big hole. The hole had started caving in. He did not say how they rescued his rig.

Yeah its a good lifesaver we had had no wet season rain at all before we drilled. Since we have had 350mm everything is looking very good except the powers that be if they disappeared up their own backsides the world would be %100 perfect. John

I recon a bore is a real asset. We have one on the other property it was supposed to pump 700 litres an hour when it was new its a lot better than that now an 1/12" pump can go all day and not stop. John

Its a bit of a gamble. Where we live there have been bores for a long time so I knew it was possible we devined and thought we had a reasonable spot turned out good we got water. The bloke I got gets about a 70% success rate usually some water sometimes there is water but its no good salty or dirty etc. John

I think thats it. Just drilled and the bore casing. I would be asking some questions before I bought a place with a bore drilled and cased with no other equipment. If I was intending to rely on the bore. Did they bore a hole to say the place had a bore for selling. Is there a report on the bore. How much can you pump in an hour. I may be wrong and it might be all on the up and up. John

I saw a bore driller rip off the folks on a property at Tabulam 15 years ago 100% guaranteed water . high on a ridge. I said no water here. they pretended to drill to 300 ft. with one pipe. they charge the land council 10,000 dollars. I was fuming

How good do you reckon dousing or divining is as a practice? Did he say anything about how often it works? Seems like magic LOL did they tell you what they were doing before they did it so you could get the drone in the air before they were blowing it all out? Great shot you got!

Yeh .. that's the bit that always looks a bit suspect to me .. I would have thought that by now some form of ground penetrating technology could analyse 50~100m before you start drilling to know if there are any water tables. I hate the idea of hit or miss drilling ;(

I can divine a bit and the bloke was real good and together we looked about and found what we both thought was a stream there was a definite line where the both of us got a strong reading. He was honest and he told me most times the owner says I want the bore here or there. He says ok and drills if after he explains that they wear the responsibility and after its dry he says I can have a look about for you and try to find a likely spot no guarantees. In the end all drilling plant operators charge to drill holes weather you get water or not. The other thing is you don't know how much water or what quality it will be either. I am planning to do another hole when the weather fines up maybe I could do a video on the trying to find water aspect? John

Our water table is only about 6 meters down. Hand drilled it in about a day. Not the best water but it’s good for garden and livestock. I live on top of a oil field. Even deeper down the water isn’t great. Lots of Sulphur and salt.
