Incredible Marc. Better than a factory finish, especially when you look at the care you take, i.e., seam welding vice spot welding, for added durability and rigidity. You're a legend pal!

Thanks Darren. I love working on this car and just want it to be nice when it’s done but a usable car. Cheers for watching
One trick I use other than a welding blanket is keeping a couple of welding aprons handy … one to wear and one to cover any entry’s to the interior or to cover glass etc 😊

Great idea I have done this in the past when I was in a tight little garage 👍
Love these Volvos, I had one fifty years ago. They handle much better if they’re not on bald crossplies!

Oh so nice to hear another fan of these cars. Yes many people have told me keep It standard but swap the tires to something nicer and modern
I found this series today and have watched all the episodes. I have a 1963 Amazon, so this is fascinating; I’m looking forward to the next instalment. Alan

@@SimpsonsClassics You mentioned in one of the earlier episodes that you couldn't identify the wire that passes through the steering column. That is for the horn; leave it in place for the time being because it is really difficult to thread up from the bottom if you remove it. If you need any more information about how things go together I'm happy to use my Amazon as a reference and send you photos or a description. Good fortune with the rebuild. Alan

Oh I wish I could bring you more on this one buddy, there is a video coming out this week on this car so stay tuned.
For all that sound deadening does a fantastic job, it is a complete ball ache to remove! This car really shows how good Volvo build quality was back in the day when you consider this car has never been restored previously and yet it's still so solid.......an Austin 1100 would be in a dust pan 🤣

Couldn't agree more! Volvos are so well built they really are it still blows my mind how good this shell is compared to most minis seen on the channel aha

Glad your enjoying it buddy really love working on this.
Great to see this I'm on my second restoration on one of these. I have a 1965 estate going through the process. I can't see in the video but between the chassis rail and the tunnel sometimes there is a missing panel especially with the older ones that can start cracking, would be a much easier job with the engine out 😂

@@SimpsonsClassics I believe it! You get plenty of weather there.
Really should be using ear defenders / plugs using an angle grinder, you will damage your hearing... I did.
Great update. Looking forward to seeing the welder out when you mount those new parts in place.
