Simon...have you watched AMC's TURN. in the last two days i have watched 2 seasons on Netflix. very well done show. The rings are so impressive! Has anyone designed any clothing to match them? Your videos are truly wonderful, and every time I see one there's always something new to learn. Thank you Simon!
I think if you put a red garnet in the firing pin hole of the cartridge ring with just a touch of super glue. I think that would really set your ring invention off. really cool idea Si. Your becoming the artist! Nick might want to start a studio with you.

What you should try with your rings: make a mold of your ring then pour some Resin in then add your ring back then pour in more resin and totally cover. Once hardened remove and sand and polish. This will add strength and longevity to each piece you make. ♡ love your adventures keep the content coming please.
Great rings, Si...I watch a Russian vlog that seeks WW2 war sights. The dig up soldiers and send the remains back to Germany. One of the most amazing aspects is they find huge tank shells, hand grenades, bullets and bullet cartridges. Si, the brass and copper are so preserved...when I see the bomb bodies, it reminds me of how great it would be to upcycle the metal into nice vials, drinking vessels, etc....just is amazing how the river and swampy mud preserves all the artifacts.

if you take a small brush with you on these excursions - - a shoe polish applicator brush would be perfect - - you could do field cleanups quickly, just dip the brush into a puddle or the river itself and use it to brush off the mud from the objects you find.

Simon- The brass will turn peoples fingers green from wearing those rings. They need to be plated or coated to prevent this. Glad you figured out they needed to be annealed before bending. Also should be annealed after bending too. Lots of work to smooth the edges on the rings so they don't abrade the fingers. I might suggest taking and cutting off just the head stamp area flush and soldering a small ring on the back to be able to use them as buttons on a garment, or a pin back as a novelty button.
What a great haul!! Love the 303 cartridge case finger rings Si, here's a top tip for you. I spent many years working in a brass foundry, when softening ( annealing) heat up to cherry red and allow to cool to cold naturally don't quench it, it'll make it hard again, you'll find it much easier to bend. Excellent episode, always enjoy the crafting, I've metal detected loads of carriages, so maybe one day I'll have a go, I'm a jeweller by trade so it'll give me food for thought. Keep that Luck in the muck coming our way. Happy hunting
When you find pottery that's 80% complete or 50% complete and you have prior knowledge of finding other pieces that are the same, keep them. Because you can then take one good part from one piece and one good part from another, cut them using a diamond dremel disc, mix-em up with a little white epoxy and glue them together. The clean cut will be visible in the epoxy and create a nice accent.
The age and range of different things you can find there is amazing. I hope one day to visit.
I knew you’d come up with something to use those for! They will make unique gifts for someone in the service! Very cool Si!! They are a wonderful bit of history. ❤️❤️

Si, you are so talented.
❤ your creations!
If you could find long enough copper square nails to make a ring out of would be awesome
That casting error is a chipped face. That whole chunk of material is missing from the die. In coinage, that's from strike abuse (going over the metal's fatigue point - it can have hairline cracks, chips, bubbles (or warts)), in a casting die, it's from water turning into steam. So someone messed up big time and blew their die apart. :)
I'm so obsessed with your craft projects! They bring me so much joy. Thank you!🥰
Wow, great hauls! That ‘platypus’ skull is such a similar ergonomic shape to an archers thumb ring/guard. Would have to fit on a big hand though! 😊
Great fids! That stink pot is so interesting

Si, those rings are brilliant! It could have been a bone, but I think there was another clay pipe sticking out just to the right of where you picked up the first one.. at about 1:19 just by the right edge of the frame... It was a great day out! Thank you for sharing!
Another great vid! Uranium glass yeah! I'm yet to 'lark some, but I have some beautiful 1920s serving bowls my partner bought me, along with a black light torch. They're stunning pieces. A wonderful gift. :) Those worried about it being dangerous needn't be - it's a miniscule threat to own uranium glass, but it is worth being extra careful with broken items. BTW Well done Matt on the stink pot! What a marvelous find and a very special chunk of history.
Hi Simon, if you aneal the cases first ( bring to cherry red then quench in water) you will find them easier to work with. Reloaders have many different ways of cleaning the brass and you can get the tumbling media from a gunshop or online, a home tumbler is basically two rollers and a tub to rotate, or there is ultrasonic cleaners but that is probably going to remove all your patina.

I live in Los Angeles. I have palm trees and a pool in my backyard, see minor and major celebrities at the grocery stores, the weather is 99% amazing, yet I’d much rather be in London, wearing Wellies in drizzling rain, crawling on my hands and knees sifting through mud to discover an old coin or Roman bone pin or unusual clay pipe. Yesterday was exciting because I found two silver ten-centavos coins from the Philippines minted in 1945. 🤦🏻♀️
