Bullet casing headstamp is French - reads manufactured 2nd quarter 1917 - TE = Atelier de Fabrication de Toulouse (Manufacturing Workshop of Toulouse - and the BS mark indicates brass casing supplied by Atelier de Laminage de l'Ecole Pyrotechnie de Bourges (brass factory) - WWI French ammo

And just when I thought this channel couldn’t get any better, Si whips out a wood lathe and makes a gorgeous bowl out of a piece of old wood on the shore... And then adds shined up brass hand turned nails...I love it! Can’t say how much I look forward to the Sunday morning dose of history, creativity, and Simon’s all around good humor.

So-finds, you are the sweetest, cutest, funniest young mudlarker I’ve found to watch. Love your honesty, when you drink from your bottles, how you investigate and report their value to us and just the commaraderie you share with your friends. Love watching you create new things out of your old finds, out in your back yard...accompanied by chickens and stray cats! You keep feeding NELSON those tasty bits and he’ll be a regular...a stray no longer! We do what we can to take care of all God’s creatures eh? Enjoy watching you and Nic, you and Matt, you and Steve, you and Chill Bill, you and just about anybody!!

Nelson is a handsome kitty! Your rescue hens are living the posh life in your garden! Lucky girls! Great seeing Cuffs! The ring he found was exceptional! How you see those tiny finds like the seed beads and tiny garnets is a miracle! Wow! Love your upcycle crafts! Especially the wood items ... the copper nails. Beautiful! Thanks again for sharing!

That strange sound was either the wail of a banshee, or a flock of seagulls and I don't mean the 80's band. Nelson is handsome in his beautiful, black coat. You've fed him, now he's yours. With all of those chickens about, when can a girl get an invitation to quiche? Kidding, well, not really. What a talented man you'd be to have around the house. "Dear, I've broken a bowl." "Never mind, bring me my axe." Thanks for another inspirational video. Enjoyed as usual.

Hi Si. Love your work. I'm from Western Australia and I can tell you 100% that that wood for the bowl is Jarrah, pronounced 'ja' as in jacket and 'ra' as in the Egyptian sun god. One of the hardest and most durable woods on the planet. It's a true hardwood. It has a myriad of uses; railway sleepers, furniture, power poles, flooring, wharf piles and interestingly was exported all over the world and used for roads and footpaths in Britain, particularly in London in the 19th century. Still used today.

I'd like to suggest: Use a metal detector on the wood before cutting or turning. It can find hidden nails. ( It can save hundreds of dollars if you are a sawyer.) From the looks of it, your lathe tools seem like they could stand a good sharpening. They will then leave a much smoother and easier cut. A conical fine/ hollow gouge stone for lathe tools is quite inexpensive. Mine was under $10.00 USD. Some different grades of sandpaper might also help, unless you were trying for the cruder, more primitive look. In a pinch, you can use (literally) pieces of sand stone! or make your own sandpaper with heavy paper as the backing, a light coat of glue and then coat liberally with different grits of sand. A prospecting classifier set really can help with that. Let it dry for a couple of days & you are ready to go. I applaud your adopting Nelson The Cat and the Chicken Rescue charity.

He seems smarter than the average bear, like to have edited that entire craft down to a few minutes only putting in a few highlights. I dont think he's teaching nor claiming to be a professional woodworker. anyway, I agree with the idea that his crafts are less refined on purpose. He's very creative with all of his craft ideas and amusing. I think he puts more effort into the videos cuz theyre banging awesome.

😄 When the girls came up, my first thought was the Dixie Chicks (well, I am from the southern U.S.). They are gorgeous ladies and Nelson's a looker, too.

That 1775 half penny is worth some serious bucks. I can't believe it! What a stunner!

I'm wondering if the scratch is a planchet error ( where the coin is struck on a damaged planchet) that would make it unique and desirable to error coin collectors 💲💲

@@drunkdunc8738 sorry but no, it's post mint damage. It's still likely worth a few hundred dollars in its condition. If I found that here in the U.S. in that condition I would flip my lid. We get big coppers, but they're never found in that condition. Maybe gold and silver coins, but not coppers.

David Raful 👍Its a stunner, shame about the scratch then. but like you said it's way better than any coppers being found on US metal detecting and archaeology videos. Thames mud must be the secret, correct ph and lack of oxygen?

Beautiful upcycle. More great finds. I must say that the ring that Cuffs found and shared is amazing. I suspect that besides being a mud lover you are also an animal lover. I have the female version of Nelson, my little Elvira, who I adopted from a feline rescue group. Looking forward to more luck in the muck⚓

Nelson might be a stray but as you are caring for him please make sure he is neutered and not adding to the existing problem of overpopulation of unwanted stray and feral cats.
