The calm of Billy, while water is flowing in, was impressive. So logical. "It can only be a few things. Let's begin again, and find where we went wrong." SUCCESS!! Fabulous job, you 2!

All old trawler owners are either zen in their approach to problem solving, filthy rich, or were murdered by their spouse for lashing out at them because they can't dig out the last piece of impeller out of the heat exchanger. There is no other kind.

I love the last part where you're speaking your minds. It sounds very genuine and it's also a great word of wisdom for those big projects. Your boat came out amazingly beautiful! :)
Billy and Sierra; Looks and sounds like a Lehman-Ford to me. Preparatory maintenance hint from a guy with 40 years experience with a Lehman-Ford in his trawler. I noticed in the pics of the engine when you were filling coolant that you don't have a spare alternator belt led and cable-tied up out of the way for the day the existing belt fails (it will - they all do at some point). If that happens now, you will have to disconnect the coolant hose to put a new belt on, and go through all that involves. Better to get the replacement belt led before hand and tied up out of the way. Then, when you throw or bust a belt at the worst possible moment, putting the backup belt on is simple. I loved watching you work on the trawler. Hey, wasn't the video of the waterproof shoes you were repping at the beginning taken in the San Juan Islands? We're located in Friday Harbor.
Mr and Mrs you two make an amazing team🍕. The transformation is jaw dropping, Here’s to you for saving her🎯
"We've hit the point where I'm not allowed to ask questions" I felt that in my soul. Billy I've been there and my wife probably felt the same. I couldn't help but laugh

Wowww ! I'm 70 years old and enjoyed watching you youngsters hard at work for long but Billy I have to say you have one absolute Gem helping you. Always positive and never afraid to get her hands dirty, not bothered about being the 'Beuaty Queen' with make up and the perfect smile but down to earth and worth her weight in Gold. The success lies in your togetherness and support of each other and again this woman is something amazing. On a job done better than I expected I congratulate both of you, you honestly can be very proud of yourselves and wish you all the best for the future. Congrats and much respect from a retired South African Boer .

Wow! Can't truly imagine how difficult this has been. You guys are amazing. The amount of resilience; determination; patience; vision; skill and just plain hard work that has gone into this project defines who you are. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. I am not even talking about your former carefree, by comparison, selves. On top of all the hard work and time spent to produce such a great channel is hard to believe. Thanks for bringing us along!
All work and no play. Or should I say a labor of love. As a retired Maritime Captain I must say you both make a good team. No matter what goes on behind the camera. Remember this your boat is your second love and we know who should be your first. Signing off from Ilwaco Washington.
As one of the people that said run from this boat i must admit you proved me wrong. To be fair you now know why i said that in that 4 months of your lives have been spent with grueling labor but i know the pride you both feel to get halfway there. Now for the interior. You impress me as a young couple and im really rooting for you. Time to go have a date night or two. Youve earned it.
You kids did an amazing job of bringing the outside and mechanicals of that old girl back to life. I have no doubt you will do the same for the interior. This truly was a project of epic proportions that you decided to take on. You've shown that yes it can be done but it takes an almost abusive amount of effort and solid determination to make it happen. No one should ever take on a project like this or even smaller if they can not or will not dedicate the time and resources it will take to see it through. I'm so happy for you kids and hope that while remodeling the interior you take the time to enjoy finally being able to be off the hard. You did say one thing that made this old man's ears perk up though. I apparently need to start looking at marinas and yards to find something someone else simply gave up on that is within or very close to my comfort range to take on. Who know's I might find a $0.50 boat or one that they actually pay me to take off their hands. Then maybe I can start making my own dreams a reality. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to this channel to teach us as you yourselves learn new skills and prove that, yes it can be done... Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...

the Napa Valley Marina owners are old school Sicillian family, Tula crew work ethics surely won the heart and minds of the Harbor master and owners. Best of luck getting a covered slip while your stay there in the marina. The marina deli has day old salads and deli sandwhiches for a bargain. There's a 1987 35' Grand Banks under the cover slip also resides Humphrey Bogart African Queen. The motors of the Grand Banks are up in Oregon and freshly rebuilt last season and are same motors, they may be for sale at $3000 for both. I have the phone number of the Grand Banks owner and so does the Harbor master. New power plants may up the value.
She looks like a million bucks, especially in your shoe ad. Congrats! You two deserve all the best that comes your way.
You guys need to change your channel name to “The Amazing Duo”! What a beautiful job, I bet you two would kill renovating an old home. Great job, look forward to your next video. 🇺🇸
When Sierra was no longer allowed to ask questions 😂. Great video guys! The boat looks amazing in the water. Well done on your hard work 👏
You two have accomplished a huge task in refurbishing that boat. Great job.
I hear your frustration and raise ya one. In 2005 I bought a 76' woodie built in 1932. By 2008 I had my masters license and had spent the 3 years cleaning, fixing, replacing, painting, learning sooooo much. She and I were ready to enter the charter business when - guess what - the economy crashed and NO one was looking to charter. I wish you guys many hours of fun and safe cruising. Don't forget - if you're not learning about yourselves and your boat, you're doin it wrong. All the best to ya!!
Congrats! And thanks for the reality check message at the end. Much respect.
Kudos to the crane operator, looks so much better with your magic touch
Sierra you're a gas woman, Billy you're a very lucky man. Your hard work is obvious even to a galloping horse and your videos are never boring and always insightful. Looking forward to the fit out, Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
The proof that your hard work is entertaining entertaining is that number right up above where the screen says, "Add a Comment"... Lots of folks here who just absolutely LOVE your hard work...they can watch it for hours! 😳 Also like how you did your "shorts", not trying to cram too much into too small a space.
Im not part of your project or your journey but im really proud of you guys, you get a $100 boat and look how is it now, i know you still have work to do, but from the bottom of my heart im really proud, you show all the people "IT CAN BE DONE". Im gonna drink a cold beer for you from Portugal. Keep working and i will wait for your next video.
I was skeptical that you would finish, especially in the time you did. And your marriage survived! Great team work and I think you guys will enjoy a long life together.
props to the crane operator - and putting the arm through what amounts to a pinhole! :)
Reposition your items periodically as they sit on the relatively new paint. Sometimes, paint can be a little soft even though it feels hard, and something sitting on the deck can "take a set" if left there too long.
Thank you for adding your good advice to people watching your videos that this really is possible but takes a lot of time and relentless commitment. That may be the most valuable thing you have done with your channel. I re-newed ALL the interior teak on our 1976 Pacific Trawler last winter (that's a LOT of teak), and even went so far as to do a French polish finish on every piece of wood. Probably 400 hours required. I knew it going in. But a lot of people underestimate just how much time and effort is required and then lose their motivation half way through. Your good counsel will help them stick with it.
Restoring a vessel like that is alot of work, but fortunately it's not your first rodeo. KUDOS to you both.
Boy you guys really knocked this boat out of the park with the remodel! Really looks phenomenal and congratulations to you both. Stay safe and waiting on the next video!
Have to be honest. I thought it was madness taking this on, despite my awareness of your abilities and work ethic. Hearty congratulations.
Happy belated Birthday, Billy! you guys killed it! very nice job! Keep safe and keep rolling Tula team! 👍👍
Just to put the awesomeness of this into perspective, I went back and re-watched the '$100 purchase' episode. Tried to imagine how it must have felt as you were trying to make your decision. It helped me to understand how carefully and deliberately you were weighing things before deciding. Surely you are a naturally-motivated team...and putting your adventures on KZread helps to provide extra oomph to your motivation! I wish that I could watch this series with my dad, who was a diesel engineering officer on a small US Navy ship in the South Pacific in WWII. He would have loved them! Of course, maybe he is watching them right along with us... ;-)
I don't know anything about boats but holy schniekies, I'd be checking that for leaks about every hour. It seems such a simple seal to have such heavy consequences! Well done Billy!
"What a difference a haul out makes". LOL Good job
Restorations of any size, if done right, almost invariably take an inordinate amount of time. I can't even begin to imagine the full scope of your project. Job well done!!!
That's 1000 hours plus of work for each of you, well done!
Uh-oh! Water is needed through the engines and not needed inside the boat. Very interesting exercise of apparent frustration that appears just around the corner of a sinking sensation but Billy appears to calmly restore everything together for the good and success of a great day in the annuals of sailing a fixer upper that needs to stay a upper above the waves of the mighty ocean. We get to see the serene call of Billy's sweat wife Sierra who is over 100% backing her laboring husband onto a joining of fellowship and caring success. Thank you for a wonderfully great video. Very entertaining with a whole bunch of learning curves. Now's the time to continue on Tula's Endless Summer!
here in the netherlands there is a saying, buy a boat and die, but a boat is a great possession and that's what you do it for. it has become a valid boat, top werk .

I’m ridiculously happy to hear that diesel start up.
I've rebuilt my 1975 Honda CB 750F 4 times from the ground up. It took me 3yrs the first time with the last one being just over 6 months with a pause to bury my wife. Long term goals gave you great satisfaction with their completion. Nicely done you two can't wait to see the completed interior!
Great job...you guys are doing a beautiful restoration of your new adventure..Best of luck to you both..
Sierra, wouldn't have enjoyed crawling under the boat to paint! Too close for comfort. Billy really is a smart mechanic. All the parts of the engines, so complicated! Your boat looks so beautiful! When are you going back to Florida?
Thank you for the reality check, I’m a marine professional and I don’t know how many times I’ve had the conversation about how long and the difficulty that a project can take. It’s true with things on a bench in front of you it’s significantly easier than on your knees in a bilge or on your back under a dash and it’s harder and takes longer than anybody thinks, simple things like a leaking raw water strainer. It’s frustrating and annoying and time consuming. Well done, the boat looks great!
I laughed so hard when Sierra said, we are at the point I can no longer ask questions...and when Billy sent Sierra for water...you know he was frustrated...

Great achievement guys. She looks smick in the water.

Outstanding job ! Jetty supervised the whole thing!
Hay Billy you and the wife get some good rest you have it coming..What a wonderful job you two have done....Love your video's
I am 64, you "kids" are an inspiration for people younger who have dreams...because you prove that dreams can come true. I am a gear head/go fast boat guy and have built several cars and a couple of boats. You are right. Ya gotta be real, and ya gotta stick to it..and keep at it. And you'll get there. My first boat experience was when I was about 10 my Dad and uncle went partners on a 31 (?) ft Owens cabin boat that had been neglected. This boat taught me about sanding, and Mahogany, and Teak, and varnish. I spent weekends and summers busting my tail on this boat, under close supervision of my Dad and uncle who were rebuilding both engines. When my work was done my Dad took me around and showed me what I had accomplished. This was the first time I saw it as a total project, and I could tell he was proud. I learned an incredible lesson...and every time I smell the inside of a Mahogany Teak Boat, or see a Can of Man-o-War Varnish...my mind goes back, and I smile. God Bless both of ya.
Thoroughly entertaining. The patience it must have taken not to say anyrhing but profanity after the 2nd time she continued leaking is beyond immeasurable. Im positive it is a great life to endure at dhore and sea, however, Im also fairly sure your challenges underway can be as frustrating and even dangerous as the ones you encounter in a boat yard. Bon voyage young Sea Couple and may you only view the red skies at night
I had a 44 DeFever that I painted the exterior. It took me about 18 months and was a BIG job. I can appreciate all the work you did and was amazed at how hard you both worked. Sanding was the worst. Went through 4 sanders.
The boat is still looking great. The paint job is fantastic.
Love that reality check at the end. Well done for your work Boat looks stunning
Glad you fxed the leak , The funny part was ITS LEAKING SO IT IS SLOWLY SINKING !!
Excellent!!!!!!! Just reward for all the effort and commitment. Well done you two!
I grew up on a floating house off grid. I did a Bus project, bought a bus and took out the seats and went at it. I did it alone, 6 months 7 days a week and long hours. When I was finished, it was beautiful. Not one person who stepped into the bus didn't say WOW. I can feel you and love watching you both, what a beautiful couple. See you soon , following .
You two are awesome. I am glad you got it in the water. Such hard workers. I was very impressed with your work ethic. Bravo!
Wow. That even stressed us watching. But Billy is cool as a cupcake. Impressive in so many ways.

Great job guys!! Now get busy on the inside! No slacking! 🥵
Great job, guys. Good reality check too. In addition to experience and ambition, another benefit you guys have that many entering the world of cruising is youth and energy. That project would have taken five times as long or never finished at all if it were taken on my most 55 year olds.
Both of you have worked so hard on that boat, but it is looking great!
Dam!! Love that bottom paint color. Boat looks beautiful. Can't believe that crane made it all the way in there so awesome.
Congratulations. I know you have more to do. Take a good break, you both deserve it. Your a great team together, never lose that. The boat looks great.
We also sadly have a boatyard of broken dreams. Well done to the both of you on this project; you truly are an inspiration and show what can be done with the right determination.
Congratulations !!! ... A JOB WELL DONE. GREAT WORK ETHIC, GREAT BOAT. I GREW UP ON LONG ISLAND ON THE WATER AND WORKED ON OUR FAMILY'S WOODEN BOATS MY WHOLE LIFE. I RECOGNIZE THE SUPER EFFORT YOU BOTH PUT INTO THIS PROJECT. CONTIUED SUCCESS IN YOUR ENDEAVORS.
