Billy, you might see if you can rebuild the old pump for a spare. It may just need new bearings and a seal or two. It's at least worth checking out. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

The lee shore notoriously known as the Graveyard of the Pacific basically runs from Cape Mendocino to Cape Flattery on the tip of Washington. It then continues north up to the Gulf of Alaska. The weather you had for this voyage at this time of year was amazing.

I work on tugboats in Alaska and the only thing I've found that works for seasickness is making sure you have a good meal and plenty of lemon and ginger tea. No heat in the wheelhouse and look out at the horizon. Thanks for sharing your journey. My ketch has a ford lehman in it as well and it's a pain in the butt finding those parts. Glad you got it fixed and on your way

It’s great to see you cruising in calm waters. I was a commercial fisherman in the Atlantic from above Newfoundland and as far south to the Amazon..seen 30-40 ft seas and 100 +mph winds.I’ve told people the ocean can get as calm as a mill pond and they look at me like I’m crazy.glad you had such wonderful conditions!! Boat looks great and it’s great to see all your hard work pay off!! Fair winds 🛥️

Grew up on the Outer Banks with commercial fishermen and boat builders in my family. I've seen the Atlantic from mild to wild. Like you said many a day I've seen as flat as flat can be, other days I've seen I was glad I was safely on the beach watching instead of out on it. People that look at you like your crazy just haven't spent enough time near the ocean.

I think that Lehman Diesel engines are marinized Fordson Tractor engines. Most agricultural suppliers of Ford Tractors will have the kit for the pump, and some even an entire exchange pump as long as you bring the old one. If you just buy the kit you will ned access to a press to fit it.

I was working on containerships for 10 years and we did that route on the way to Seattle/Vancouver .BC . The weather there can vary from storm to flat sea in hours so you have a great luck ! It's a wondeful place though to route because of the wildlife !

This was posted four days ago and I couldn't believe that you guys are even considering going further north at this time of year. A quick check of "windy" shows me a couple of weeks of continuous heavy storms from San Francisco all the way to Puget sound, which is normal for this time of year. If you can make it to Eureka and they have a slip(better check ahead, they usually have a waiting list) you might just stay there till April when the storms moderate. May would be even better. You couldn't pay me enough to make that passage at this time of year and I have done it both ways.

Like others it's been awhile since I've seen such calm waters along the Oregon/Washington Coastline. I spent many years on a working Coast Guard Buoy Tender and I can only recall the riding in the trough transits. Mind you we'd go out no matter the weather as it was our job and we couldn't always wait for ideal weather. We had paper charts back then and navigated by Loran and visual bearings. I think you mentioned you were not yet equipped with Radar for this boat your cruising on and that would be scary to me as it's not so much the other vessels I'd be worried about but the debris (Logs, etc..) and crab pots that need to be avoided. We had our papercharts marked with what they called tow boat lanes that as long as we stayed in those passages we would hopefully not go afoul of running over something. I spent lots of time sailing in the Caribbean as well and I'd always prefer that body of water compared to my brown water days...I know you guys are probably not in the PNW anymore but it is very entertaining watching your passion for the life style and venturing into new areas.. Cheers...
