Wow! The black guy on the T-shirt is Emperor Menelik who ruled Ethiopia from 1889 to his death in 1913. He is famous for being the only African king to defeat the colonial forces of a white European nation, namely Italy at the battle of Adwa in 1898. He is the main reason Ethiopia remains the only African country that was never colonized. I can't believe you randomly ran into a shirt bearing his image outside of Africa!

The long stay visa is the way to go for sure.. watching several channels that are or have been in French Polynesia this past season... the people with a regular visa are jumping around trying to see it all, the long stay visa folks are able to spend weeks in one place, really take in the places they enjoy the most... Like Delos, spending a month all alone at anchorage... just too much paradise to see to be rushed through it.

Love the "photo that clearly shows Bill's inner psycho". I was able to take and submit my own photo last time for my passport so was able to take several shots to successfully hide my inner psycho! I do have to go through that process again next year though, so we'll see. Donate for a Dream

Now, let's see, . . . lots of stuff going on here! Stack Pack or Ptack Sack, . . . I'm so confused! LOL At the end I figured out what the multicolored light was for. Red for port, green for starboard and white for fore (and aft?). I was puzzled about the DHL office. Did the first one say "Closed for Lunch"? Since you went back there and they were open it seems that may have been the case. But then I can't read Spanish. But then we have those fancy smart phones that can translate text into your own language just be taking a picture of that Spanish text. When I was a kid that would have seemed miraculous! 8 - \ LOL

Watching you make that bracket made me think of it, did you know you can get ceramic tile cutting blades (diamond or CBN) for the angle grinder? I think I paid under $10 for one, a cheap one not the insanely expensive pro version. It becomes the cutter of G10 and last resort. It will even slot granite! I keep a couple on hand for emergencies.

That photo looks like it should have a number and a date under his face! Typical passport photo. Even here in South Africa we get the picture while we wait. 2 minutes max! That being said it could take 2 MONTHS to get the passport back.

lol very true. Yes it’s a bit different of a process when you renew in a foreign country actually not too bad in Mexico. In real time we just got it back!!!!!!! So very very happy about that :)

Clearly you paid for the expedited passport renewal. Not sure what region you’re applying through but the backlog can run months even for expedited. Good luck. Maybe they’ve caught up from the pandemic. Don’t ask me how I know this.

It’s a bit of a different process when applying in a foreign country. Mexico is actually pretty good overall and in real time we just got it back!! So thankful it worked out :) but yea we have heard the horror stories :/

Thank u, I go through phases where I’m super tired. The bones of our boat are actually super solid. Sabre built really strong boats. No creaking groaning or noises like many boats. The ‘bone’ strength is one of the most important aspects so even though she’s old she’s in good shape strength wise. Thank you for your well wishes and following our journey 🥰

And they still managed to screw it up by leaving my middle name blank which means unless I pay for a redo my state drivers license can’t be used for domestic TSA flight screening because the names don’t exactly match

I couldn’t make it past all the measurement crap

love your story. But, I have to say, leaving your mainsail up and then leaving the boat at anchor was dumb. Really dumb and it could have endangered boats around you. I really don't understand what you were thinking.

Also apply for the passport card, good for Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. Still good for 10 years
