Halo infinite launch -no coop -no campaign -very limited game modes and no ranked slayer +microtransactions working day 1 Forza Motorsport -less cars -less tracks -less suits -ai horrible -career mode had no race cars -drift suspension with no drifting -horrible performance Redfall -everything, literally Phil apologized for it, was THAT bad. -year & a half no dlc then cancelled it Starfield -30fps (cinematic) but now 60fps patch coming a year later -horrible ui -no maps -lacking story -loading screens galore +a YEAR after launch is getting a performance and qol update. Like the missing features. +cool ship building And there’s more! We wonder why xbox is in this position and now it’s easier to understand. They don’t move games, consoles and a lot of people don’t buy the games or not at launch due to quality. If anything buy one month of gp on pc and if it sucks than oh well, you’re not out 70$. I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy but at the same time let’s not sugar coat it either. Abk was great for Microsoft, NOT the gamers. No one considers traditional games worth it anymore. They don't realise that if they do achieve this they will not have fornite numbers of players but those players will be divided amongst all the live service games. Because a gamer can only dedicate their time to only one of those games at a time.

All the worker devs that did the programing without the magic of that Dev, were just redundant at that point with all of XB Studios. After he left, Tango was just a lame duck. There is no reason to shut down tango if everything was going well. Xbox knows all the data for their games and so they know whats going on. Since they shut it down then that means the studio wasnt moving the needle any for xbox. We know that ghostwire tokyo didnt perform well and despite hifi rush being critically acclaimed, it didnt perform well either. Rhythm games are niche.

I have a black Xbox Series S and still enjoy Game Pass and still find things to play but then again I’m not downloading a lot games because I have 78 games on my machine and haft to really be picky about which games I want to play and how much space they take up.

It’s a double edged sword, you acquire said studio and force them to do a game they don’t want to do, it has no heart it’s lifeless and then doesn’t do well. Or, you let them continue doing the games they want and this is the result. Redfall would have been bad regardless, who’s to say the studio would’ve survived either way? It’s a lose lose situation unfortunatel.

The problem is the facts are wrong. The studio didn't want to make RedFall. Xbox didn't force them to make Redfall but the previous management did. When Microsoft bought them they actually asked to drop RefFall and Xbox told them to finish it.

It's kind of like Halo aswell we have to wait for years for another game and yet it would mean more for us fans if get sequels or separate stories within the Halo universe... instead of having to catch up with where the story is in novels. As long as it's a public Trading Company, the higher ups won't have the gamers best interest since they are legally required prioritize making money. To be clear I don't think this is bad in itself, but gaming were better off when these higher ups were uninformed to the point they remained hands off because they didn't know what made the most money or not. They took more risk, because they didn't know any better.

What are you talking about? Xbox bought Rare 20 years. They made several games prior to Sea of Thieves and were relegated to Kinect games for a long time.

I'm not mathematician but how is Gamepass sustainable? Let's say you have 15x AAA games that cost 15 million each to make. Then you have Gamepass for $15 a month. You would need 1 million players to pay for Gamepass for one month to make up for one of those games. You need 15 million players paying for Gamepass to cover three AAA games. And that's just to break even on produution cost, not even considering paying for the actual talent from the developers, marketing, packaging, shipping, etc. I'd wager you need twice the players to account for it all if not more. You'd need like 40 million people paying for Gamepass... How TF did they think human beings paying for a service was a solid business strategy when a simple boycott could cause their whole system to collapse? And this is just accounting for the "top 15 AAA games (all hypothetical)." It doesn't even wager in the hundreds of indie developed games that need a portion of that Gamepass revenue too.

11:55 world complains that all we ever get is sequels and there are no original ideas, no original games, no original movies, or IP etc. Then we get something new and different and we get this reaction. Not targeting the opinion in this video specifically, it is everywhere. The point on the Fallout TV show and the actual result of Starfield aside is all we really want is sequels? I do however think it is a bit crazy how long some sequels take to come out like Fallout but then you have Ubisoft who pumps out new Assassin's Creeds and other games like crazy (and then flops with their new overhyped, under delivered, super delayed game too). I think you undermine your own point by saying that Obsidian should make New Vegas 2 over Outer World's 2. Fallout New Vegas was quicker because it was built in the same engine and with a lot of the assets from Fallout 3. When Fallout 3 was made that whole setup was already old. That's why the Tale of Two Wastelands mod that merges 3 and New Vegas works. New Vegas 2 would need to build from the ground up. Fallout 4 is way too old to build the game in its engine and with its assets today. Outer World's 2 should be a quicker build. I think they should build these baseline games and then while the next big thing is being built over six or more years make new games in the same way New Vegas or Spiderman was using the same core. Sure they are essentially glorified expansions a lot but if they are their whole own story and have plenty of content that's great.

They need to cancel game pass and go back to selling games full price.

If they weren't bought by MS and their game didn't sell their studio would close down anyway. Studios run a business of selling games. If the developer of Redfall was left to their devices and lit $10M on fire (made up number) then one can see why they got shut down.

It's not about doing anything with the IP's. It's about making sure the competition can't use them.

Speaking on higher-up intervention... How about, when you that a project is collapsing into developer hell, with no cohesive vision and a lot of leadership turnover: (1) Step in, (2) review the options going forward, (3) put one person and their vision for the project in charge, and (4) make it clear that everyone is expected to come on-board and follow their lead or hit the bricks. Sometimes you actually need a heavy hand to get shit done. Too many would-be memorable games have devolved into non-existent chaos because there were just too many cooks in the kitchen and too few people willing to commit to one overall design lead. This is one of the few circumstances wherein executives could actually be an asset to the creative process (like how in the SCRUM development methodology you have the product owner who is setting the vision for the project, and it's everyone's job to make _that_ vision a reality as efficiently and effectively as possible, aiming for the MVP-the Minimum Viable Product).

I think Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft will make Xbox become Microsoft gaming or windows gaming in the future. The problem Xbox has right now they own all the Studios now. And there has been a lack of optimization. Now after Redfall and did poorly and even HiFi rush was not making profit back on investment did not move gamepass numbers. But Starfield did. I think Amy Hood Finance Director of Microsoft with CEO Microsoft Satya Nadella. Has told Xbox team now you guys need to make us money. This is why Sara Bond was not happy with the Bloomberg interview you can see she was struggling. People want Phil Spencer to step down. Question i ask have anybody heard from Phil Spencer. They were the best they'd ever been in the 2000's. After 2013 there have been multiple bad choices. The launch of Xbox One didn't go well because they introduced it as a media player and to always be connected to the internet. People didn't like that. Xbox has lost their motivation to create great content. They're also not very well structured in planning. They should've bought Bethesda quite a few years ago like 2015/16, and they also somehow thought it'd be smarter to release the slim and pro consoles first (series' s and x) than the standard. They're too gullible; series s was included probably because people struggled for money in late 2020 due to the pandemic? It's a good choice but it kills Xbox because it involves impulsive thinking. Really they should've kept the norm and released the standard console first and waited a few years for better components to then make the slim more powerful as well as the pro. Then they wouldn't be in such a risk. In terms of games, they produce the worst games. Redfall turned out to be a flop because of many, many issues. I haven't played the game, but I've heard the complaints. I'm not sure about the other games of theirs except for sea of thieves, halo, Forza Motorsport and horizon, alongside I guess I can say Minecraft. Sea of thieves I played for 2 hours. I found it extremely boring and the only thing that was decent to me was the nice graphics. Halo I've had a go at playing. My opinion doesn't entirely define of what it actually is because I also didn't play it for long. You see, I'm a doom gamer. So I prefer to have infinite like ammo. Where as with halo I ran out pretty quick because I like to relax and have fun. I was basically stuck with options on weaponry. I couldn't find anything like grenades or if there were some I probably ran out. I don't think melee attacks done as good as doom...I don't exactly remember some of the details clearly, so I'm not sure. Though, games like Forza Motorsport and horizon and Minecraft are high quality games. Quite certain Xbox might suck at story telling, that's why they've stuck with multiplayer? But something else to point out is the lack of improvement with the switch from Xbox one s/X to the series s/x. It's basically the same inside and out with very few improvements. The biggest improvement is power obviously. Positively, Xbox has done some good things that seem to come from the 2000's. For example they introduced achievements, which playstation followed along with a year later but tweaked it with trophies of platinums, gold, silver and bronze. There's a few others that's been copied and Xbox has copied playstation too.

Everyone who got pissed at Microsoft for that comment back in 2013 literally accepted what they were trying to do. Xbox has just been ahead of the curve in terms of business modeling

Gamepass is ruining the ecosystem so is PlayStation Plus I say they should keep game pass and PlayStation Plus but only have smaller games and older games, like at least 3 years old before it goes on game pass and PlayStation Plus and lower the price

Why do teams matter? I own all 3 consoles, have a pc and a steam deck. I'm in it for gaming. I enjoy my PS and Xbox and all the rest. I've bought 2 games on my PS5 in a year... That's not so great too... There's a lack of (first party) content this generation on both sides. Nintendo has smaller games and a higher output. Maybe PS and Xbox need to take them as an example? (actually in my opinion Nintendo sells well because kids like to play on it and people get their kids something that's more like Disney/Pixar than a game about demons and hell)

XBOX 360 was awesome despite the RED RING which i experienced with 6 different consoles. XBOX ONE is where i drawed the line. XBOX ONE,SERIES consoles are bricked before you take them out of the box. You need to install the system software. Playstation until the PS5 slim did not have internet requirement. For me thee biggest asset for a console was not requiring internet and internet being an added benefit. If PS6 launch's requiring internet then thee benefit no longer exists when that happens i will be forced to go PC. There is alot of things you sacrifice using console VS pc but as long as console could work offline a trade i was willing to make. You can't get Half Life 1 on console and many other games. As for xbox it's a lost cause.

There hasn't been a game printed on a disc since 2013 on any system. PS4 had to be installed with internet connection. Sony was the ones pushing DRM since the beginning of the PS2 Era. Microsoft finally agreed to it with the Xbox One. Also they had agreed on price at 500. Then there was the E3 price betrayal by Sony. The only thing that bothers me is that Phil plays nice with Playstation. I understand business decisions, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.
