The Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (ORBDR) is a 750-mile, multi-day off-pavement ride designed for adventure and dual-sport motorcycles. Starting in the high deserts of the southeast and exploring north through ancient pine forests and into the rugged mountains of the Cascade Range, challenges include lava rocks, silt, sand, and arduous mountain roads. From sagebrush steppe and hot springs, to caverns and glaciated volcanoes, riders are guided into remote territories that reveal many of the state’s natural wonders, providing prime sightseeing and recreational opportunities. With stunning views throughout and terrain that is certain to test your riding skills and endurance, the ORBDR is one of the best ways to discover the backcountry of Oregon.

Nice job on the video. Love the fact that Chloe isn't the usual terrified teenager of anything buggy. Loved the fact she brings her bug book with her! And, of course, Goose stole the show! New subscribers. Glad we found you!

Thank you! It’s difficult to watch her grow up, and I cherish the time we spend together in the woods because I get to see that kid again. Absolutely thrilled that you and others enjoyed the video! We loved making it!

If you camp on the Alvord Desert, try to plan on a night with a new moon. I have had the best view of the Milky Way from the Alvord Desert. Much of Central and Eastern Orgon have great dark sky areas. So many find section 1 in the high desert boring. I live and explore the high desert and find slowing down and getting out of the rig to explore the canyons, creeks, and hill side to have much to see. Smell the sagebrush, pine trees, watch for wild horses, pronghorn, deer, Elk. One thing I ask of all that drive the Oregon BDR is to respect those of us that have homes along the route. We live in the section from Bend to Sisters. The gravel road past my home is good and people bomb through at 30 to 50 mph. They do not think about the dust they generate that speeds to our homes. Also watch for people and pets walking on the road. So many close calls over the years. With the BDR traffic has increased and made our lives less enjoyable.

Nice video! Makes me want to go down and do the Oregon BDR and I still haven't finished the Washington BDR (the state I live in), soon though. My daughter will finish getting her RN in a few weeks and then I will have a lot of free time for my dog and I to hit some trails.

Right on, thank you! I’ve done it a couple times all the way through, and we are constantly revisiting sections. The BDRs are a great way to find trail systems. Looking at maybe doing the WYBDR next year. Maybe we’ll spot each other out on the trail sometime! Keep the shiny side up, my friend!
