Have you ever heard of a COLD desert?? Well Pakistan has 2 of them!!
Join us as we take an epic day trip exploring the area around Skardu. Visiting Shigar Fort, Blind Lake, and the cold deserts all while in the comfort of a retro 1940's Land Cruiser! Plus we come across our first ever game of Polo and let's just say it's a pretty mental game!
It's been no secret since we arrived in Northern Pakistan we have been blown away by its beauty and today's vlog is no exception!
We stayed at Pyramid Lodge during our stay in Skardu and we couldn't recommend it enough. Our kind host Hussain arranged for this day tour with our driver Iqbal and we had the best day!

It's so beautiful, Pakistan 🇵🇰 is an amazing country
This is where polo comes from. British officers (elites) got the game from here. Locally this has historically come from cavalry training. There is also tent pegging that was originally for training cavalier spear hormen. An elite activity mainly done by land owners (land barons in feudal terms)

British Colonists used to play polo there, but they did'nt bring it..This was the Royal Game of Sub Continent , named as Chogaan , and was introduced , reformed and played by the great Mughal Emporer Zahir ud Din Babar!!

Polo gets very intense specially when they are playing an official match, heard it can get bloody and messy too. You should visit sadpara, deosai plains as well and khaplu too. But also sarfaranga in summer or fall since there are activities and better jeep rides and bike and even paragliding too. Plus on the way to blind lake, there's a resort that I designed. You should visit next time too. I can hook you guys up!!

Thats a Land Cruiser 40 series. Not a bad specimen.The spped limit on the dash is a carry oiver from the army daysShigar is such a cool place!Hes got one noisy diesel in it!

an interesting tidbit for you wrt finding Blind Lake to be similar to the Scottish Highlands. When the British colonized India, it was the Scots who primarily ventured out into the mountain regions of what is now Pakistan, and wrote some fascinating memoirs on their time there. The Scots fell hard for both the rugged nature of the Pakistani highlands and its inhabitants

You should see Minimarg some 50-60 km from Skardu, some 15 km from Deosai Skardu. Most mesmerizing place in Skardu/Astore region

I am a Pakistani and I have lived half of my life in Edinburgh and I have seen Scotland from coast to coast, but this resembles atad bit like Scottish Highlands but Scottish Highlands are decidedly more mesmerising. I shall give the credit where it's due.

I have also scaled every inch of the Scottish highlands and undoubtedly it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Love going back every time. However, the Norther areas of Pakistan, though share some similarities, have a few landscapes which are unique to the area and are more mesmerising.
Please brother and sister visit on Chanda Valley in skardu very beautiful valley in skardu❤
