Minus the fat suit we've seen Fraser's performance a million times and will again, and his dramatics were no better than Austin's away from the Elvis specifics, such as when Gladys dies, Priscilla leaves and when he screams at Parker on stage and when he yells at Parker and Vernon in the hotel lobby and suite. Austin won around the world, Great Britain, Australia, Spain, Ireland, South Africa, Portugal and multiple countries bodies that represent 50 and 20 countries. Austin was also named to the Top 100 Influential People in the World by Time Magazine, and again, no Fraser. Showing that Frasher's comeback and "Me Too" story means nothing from an international perspective when considering acting performance. Also, there are only 3 highly prestigious film awards for acting recognized around the world, The Golden Globe, The BAFTA and the Oscar and Austin won 2 of them. SAG and Critics Choice (other U.S. bodies that Fraser won with) don't make a single list for worldwide recognition. The Golden Globes (1944) BAFTA (1949) along with the Oscars (1929) all make every list of not only significant global film awards, but awards in general, including the Grammy, Nobel and Pulitzer. The Oscars have and agenda based on lifetime achievement and comeback narrative and American voters in general lean this way, not to mention the obstacle they create for those in their first lead role, which is why he won 13 Breakthrough Performance or Most Promising awards from other U.S. organizations. For the record, here are all Austin's wins as Elvis, not including his 13 Breakthrough performance awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press/Golden Globe (Best Performance in a Motion Picture -Drama) The British Academy of Film and Televison (Best Leading Actor) The Australian Academy of Cinema and Televison International and Domestic versions (Best Lead Actor) South African Online Film Critics (Best Actor) Sunset Circle Awards (Best Actor) International Press Academy/Satellite Award (Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical) People's Choice (Drama Movie Star of 2022) The Minnesota Film Critics Alliance (Best Actor) Sant Jordi Award (Best Actor in a Foreign Film) CinEuphoria Best Actor - International Competition

A lot of actors don’t always have the preparation time. Elvis had a long preproduction process and playing Elvis meant searching for quite a long time for the right actor allowing that timeframe for Butler. Austin's hard work and dedication definitely was worth it especially to all of us Elvis fans around the world but also for a new generation of fan or just new fans from every age group, Elvis was an outstanding singer/performer and he deserved this portrayal, Austin loves, respects and admires Elvis and wanted to do him justice and for Lisa Marie and family, he has received approx 22 awards for his portrayal including golden globe, Australian academy, British academy for best actor/outstanding performance. The American academy got it wrong in my personal view but a little gold statue doesn't mean anything near what Austin has givin millions of us fans, he has our hearts forever ♥️♥️♥️♥️⚡⚡⚡⚡

I think it is fair to surmise that Hollywood owed Brendan Fraiser for how they mistreated him and awarding him the Oscar was payback. I don’t doubt his performance was exceptional and I love Brendan for all the joy his performances have given. But, Austin Butler’s portrayal of the King was off the charts. Showing that Frasher's comeback and "Me Too" story means nothing from an international perspective when considering acting performance. Also, there are only 3 highly prestigious film awards for acting recognized around the world, The Golden Globe, The BAFTA and the Oscar and Austin won 2 of them and both vs Fraser. The Oscars have and agenda based on lifetime achievement and comeback narrative and American voters in general lean this way, not to mention the obstacle they create for those in their first lead role, which is why he won 11 Breakthrough Performance or Most Promising awards from other U.S. organizations. For the record, here are all Austin's wins as Elvis, not including his 11 Breakthrough performance awards, and he's also up for The Irish International and Mtv Award, both on May 7 The Hollywood Foreign Press/Golden Globe (Best Performance in a Motion Picture -Drama) The British Academy of Film and Televison (Best Leading Actor) The Australian Academy of Cinema and Televison International (Best Lead Actor) Sunset Circle Awards (Best Actor) International Press Academy/Satellite Award (Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical) People's Choice (Drama Movie Star of 2022) The Minnesota Film Critics Alliance (Best Actor) Sant Jordi Award (Best Actor in a Foreign Film) CinEuphoria Best Actor - International Competition

I totally agree
I had forgotten about Elvis after I saw him on the Ed Sullivan Show (my dad liked him too) when I was a child. When this absolutely compelling presentation of Elvis appeared, I was transposed. In my honest opinion, you, Austin, should retain that unbeatably sexy Elvis accent. It’s really wonderful and you worked so hard for it! Your performances are transporting-dreamy.
Austin and Elvissss ,love ❤you Ann

@80s Teen I think we can all agree that they're great actors. Who cares about the statistics. Numbers are numbers. The hearts of the people voting is what gives the winners their light. Brendan's struggle won over the hearts of the people. We don't know the actors personally either, so talking about them in rudimentary terms doesn't do this any justice.
WOW! He deserves the Oscar👍❤️

Austin beat Fraser head to head with international voters: Foreign Press Golden Globe, UK BAFTA, Catalonia Sant Jordi, Australia AACTA International and is up for the Irish International category at IFTA May 7 and Fraser's not even nominated. Austin was also named to the Top 100 Influential People in the World by Time Magazine, and again, no Fraser. Showing that Frasher's comeback and "Me Too" story means nothing from an international perspective when considering acting performance. Also, there are only 3 highly prestigious film awards for acting recognized around the world, The Golden Globe, The BAFTA and the Oscar and Austin won 2 of them and both vs Fraser.

He deserved that Oscar way more than anybody else. All the effort and commitment was just outstanding. It just goes to show that the academy really doesn’t see true talent.
I still believe he should have won an Oscar for his performance. He did a phenomenal job as Elvis
I don't know why he didn't win that Oscar he earned it.

@@80steen44 Yes, I know, and completely agree with you. I was hoping the Oscars would also recognize Austin's phenomenal performance and Baz's direction, along with the work of the rest of the crew. I wasn't really surprised at their snub but still disappointed. Austin is still young, and I look forward to seeing more of his talent and work in the future.

Oscars sometimes give the award to an actor’s body of work, paying their dues rather than specific performance. Mr. Butler will receive future nominations no doubt. Brandon Fraser has been in the movie industry for 30 years and his performance in The Whale is outside his norm. I have not seen it yet but he received a standing ovation plus the momentum is the right time for him. Look at past wins for “body of work” winners …. Geraldine Page, Alan Arkin, Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, Susan Sarandon, Art Carney.
