The reason Austin Butler lost this Oscar, or wasn't given to him, is because of the same BS Elvis himself was so against. Austin, we all know who was the real best actor that year, even the ones who wouldn't say it!!! Awesome man, AWESOME!!!

I suspect many of them do like his music. They just don't want any of their friends to know they secretly dig the music (sound familiar?). Ironically, the friends from whom you're keeping the secret might be keeping the same secret. LOL It's a young people thing. Nobody wants to be thought of as an "individual thinker". Everyone wants to be perceived as being "cool", which really means being like everyone else in many ways. The perception is that if you stand out from the crowd, you're not "cool", so you must be a weirdo. (That idea, in itself, is ironic because the original concept of being "cool" [back in the 40s/50s with the "beat" generation] was exactly the opposite. To be "cool" was to be an individual thinker, a "non-conformist", etc.] I think you'll probably find the older you get, the more you'll start thinking, "Screw it. I like what I like and I don't care what anyone else thinks." So often, throughout history, it's the "weirdos", the "dreamers", the "nonconformists", the "individual thinkers" who make the biggest impacts on the world. Everyone else just fades off into the quiet fog of obscurity. So go for it @marie_5185. Be "You" and be proud of it. And remember, be a good person along the way.

My son likes Elvis music, he is 22, been listening to it his whole life, as I grew up listening to Elvis. My son's favorite songs are Kentucky Rain and Blue Christmas. Shoot!! My son also loves Hank Williams Sr!!! lol He loves all kinds of music! (he plays the guitar, so he is really into music) I will always love Elvis! I was 7 when he died... I remember that night. Heartbreaking. And growing up, I loved and knew many songs from the 50s and 60s, I knew them better than my mom did! She thought it was funny that me and my sister knew so many of the songs that she grew up with. Music brings people together. ❤

I was very disappointed in this movie. The greatest movie portrayal was with Kurt Russell. He looked and sounded just like Elvis. Several things about the movie were wrong. In the return to Las Vegas, he introduced his wife, in reality he introduced his girlfriend and Father. The movie was ok, I just think he over did some of it.

Could you imagine being a teenager when Elvis came out and you have parents thinking he is the Devil, bec they dont understand his music or movement; also they didnt want their children at that time in the south listening to Black music.

My mother would not allow me to watch or listen to him. She was in the camp that he was a terrible example of a young person. I tried hard to listen and catch as much as I could in secret. That was in 1968. I was just a kid them, 11 years old. I have had a love affair with his music and him, the man all these years. Today, at age 67, it has never faded. I am so happy to see the new generation of teens and young people get introduced to him to keep his name alive and loved. 😍

Up till I saw aystin performance that was my opinion as well. Until Austin Kurt was the only performance I liked through the years. He was outstanding but at this point I think they both are equally great in the performance. Kurt definitely naturally looked more like Elvis then Aystin but performance wise they both just performed Elvis better then anyone else. The other edge I would give to Austin is Kurt didn't sing any of the songs that was Rodney Mc Dowell sang them in that movie. In Elvis 2022 Aystin actually sang in the early performances and in the later performances they blended Austin with Elvis. Plus Austin did full concert performances while filming because Baz was not sure which ones he was leaving in the movie. He definitely got robbed out of the Oscar and the movie was nominated for 8 oscars and the movie it self got shut out because the academy is jaded and lost their integrity a long time ago. But both Kurt and Austin both were the best at capturing Elvis spirit. Funny the other day I was watching Once upon a Time on Hollywood and it was wild both Kurt and Austin had a small part in theories and and I was like wow here are the best 2 people who played Elvis in this movie. That movie was filmed before Austin did the Elvis movie. I do agree with u about great Kurt was playing Elvis. Heck I remember Kurt first film role was in the Elvis movie it happened at the world fair where he was the boy who kicked Elvis. Talk about coming full circle.

Yes there is no doubt Austin was robbed of the Oscar and the movie its self was not respected by the academy. It was nominated for 8 awards and shut out. Heck it didnt even get best hair and make up they gave that to the Whale movie as well right tbere told me how jaded the academy voters are. The academy lost theur integrity a long time ago. The only reason the gave Brendan the award was because the whole time during pressers during award time Brendan was shouting it to everyone how he was groped by the Hollywood executive. It was a pitty award given to him. It might have been Brendan best of his film career but it was not the best performance of the year. I know the movie and Austin actually won countless awards world wide Austin even won best international performance of the year but it is just a shame he was eobbed of the Oscar performance he gave and the academy still disrespecting Elvis all these years later.

I walked out on the movie after seeing Elvis’ beloved Gladys portrayed as a drunk and Elvis grovelling at Parker’s feet, begging him to be his daddy. Truly disgusting smears.
